I was going to say the same thing. Just fry it and eat it. Climbing perches are costly here in my place. There are fisheries which solely breed them commercially. They taste so good
In Vietnam, this fish can be found in regular home-made meals and even restaurant dishes. I never thought a thing that costs 2-3 bucks at local markets could be that dangerous to other animals lol
These things were Introduced to some areas in Florida and they wreak havoc much like the Python it's a real probem people releasing animals that don't belong there but can thrive there Florida has some really diverse and rich habitats in Florida like the ever glades the everglades are crazy I grew up in Florida a lot of people would be surprised the things that live in Florida that are supposed to
It's used to be very abundant in the Philippines when I was young, but in my place it was a delicacy until this time that I don't see them in the market anymore. You see the climbing perch is gone but I am still here so don't freak out, just send us more....
This fish was common in the Philippines during 70's and this is my favorite fishing game fish as a kid but when janitor fish invaded Philippine rivers they disappeared and rarely found, only in some upland stream water areas.
Now, you make me wonder if Saint Peter has ever heard of this walking perch else, he might struggle with that story at the Pearly Gates. Poor thing risks being tossed into hell simply for a storyline that sounds more functional than Saint Peter himself !
I'm from South India & we had a lot of them in our canals. I used to catch them in our childhood just to look at them & throw them back into the water. They are extremely resilient but looks really cute from some angles. I even kept 2 of them as pets when i was a boy. Lol my neighbour's kid downstairs has one now as a pet in a tank. But most people caught them to fry them & eat. Now these South Indian fresh-water fishes' species populations are dwindling due to civil-creep & pollution. It's sad. BTW we call them 'Karuupp'. ( Might be derived from the word Karupp (black) or Kurry (curry-gravy-side-dish).
@@ClashwithAxersionPV it’s a comment on the time an emperor decided that a good way to increase crop yields was to kill all the birds that were eating seeds, causing an enormous famine because the birds had been mostly eating insects that were now free to consume the entire crops.
As someone who only plays CoD once in a while, what is RPS? I assume from the context that it's similar to a rocket launcher or some other explosive weapon.
@@garyberger9257 that one dude told you already but yeah i meant rpg’s which is a rocket launcher. But even in general people are just so petty on any battle royal game! They will fight in the storm because they know your better so what better way to kill a good player than just shoot at his back every time he try’s to rotate. I would imagine that fish would play the same way lol
Australia just traumatized by emu's, so thats natural how they react to that fish, more over they fighting with mouse plague right now hope they doing well
@@garyberger9257 yea man that really scared me i wonder how many farmer get their farm destroyed by the mouse, hope the goverment find the solution and farmer keep more owl
This is a popular and delicious fish in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Locally we call it 'Koi Fish' (কই মাছ). In the rainy season here you can see this fish walking on land. Its very common here.
ironic considering that mcu thanos was actually wanted to balance the universe, while comic thanos just do it because for funzy, everything is like in nature is like that, walking fish in asia is doing nothing while in autralia is chaos, good video, i'm hope you keep doing this
Yesssss first thing I thought of when I saw this was "I wonder how it tastes". We can absolutely eat something to extinction. Though that being said, that's not actually a good thing, but maybe make it popular in regions it doesn't belong? Not sure we can do it so precisely, but it's definitely a thought lol
We eat these fish. These are farmed in rice fields. During every yearly high school exams my mom would prepare two of these and I would have them for breakfast right before going to school. They taste pretty good if you know how to prepare them and if you are experienced with boney fish.
From reading these comments I'd say a good course of action would be asking Indians about their recipes featuring those fishes 😅 . Out of the water and into the frying pan 👊😎 .
What could possibly go wrong, right? It's not like the fish can run fast and can be strategic, right? Man Australia is a clusterfuck at this point What's next? Laser eyed rabbits ? Fuckin evolution
In Vietnam, we usually see perch fish walking on land after a heavy rain. Moreover, I have to say that fried perch fish tastes very good, especially their eggs. We even feed them in ponds.
Me hearing that they have a ton of needles Also me before watching: *cleaning tank* ohh where did i put my fish net... Oh well... Im just gonna grab it
Humans: "CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! DEFORESTATION!" They can't cross the land effectively and get to new water if we ruin the water supplies and ruin all chances of anything being able to survive on land other than desert faring animals."
This news went viral 10 years ago in Australia. And this fish has been in Indonesia since before my grandfather was born. Local animals such as snakes, lizards, tigers, bears have no problem with this fish, none of them have become extinct because of this fish. It was humans who made the Javan tiger extinct, not the climbing perch fish
maybe people all over should start coming over more, make you make more fish delicacies. We save the world with fish delicacies. Soundsl ike a good plan.
I feel like introducing more crows into areas would thin their numbers crows would see them crawling in the bank come down and start picking them apart rather than swallowing them whole like a fish feeding bird would.
Crows are super smart! I know of this one guy I went to school with that threw something at a few crows that weren’t in his way but near his truck. From then on, they would literally tear sheeeeet up! Pecking at anything rubber, windshield wipers, window gasketing, and leave doodoo on it haha! It didn’t matter if he changed vehicles either, they recognized him, which lead me to believe that anything that can retain memory like that must be quite intelligent
In Malaysia we call it "ikan puyu". They sometimes purposely jump into people mouth and needed to rushed to hospital to remove them for inside the mouth. But we eat them here regularly. Tasty but deadly. Their scales were very thick too.
Oh god, hot potato? The "very hot potato" is actually a brilliant sketch about english language. The teacher, tired of trying to help the kid with his english pronunciation, jokes that british accent sounds as if you keep a hot potato in your mouth. Well, the kid takes this literally and that's why he's juggling boiled potatoes.
Its hard to believe it could just evolve entirely by numerous accidental mutations into such a creative adaptor. Yet its still only a fish. Next step - it flies. Wonder how it got to earth?
Here in Philippines we call it 'Puyo. They are found everywhere in ricefields, swamps, lakes, rivers. I think thats the only fresh water fish survives even theres a long drought.
I am actually surprised how the fish can destroy ecosystem that what they are doing is just being eating insects, worms, small crustaceans etc. Turns out there are another reasons.
Venom is energy consuming and can be a detriment if there aren't any proper predators which can eat it consistently, or any prey to eat consistently. This is why North American snakes lack the venom while the tropical ones do.
@@infinityzer054 well yeah at least we are pretty fine from it. However, an animal that has a scary intrusion rate will definitely affect ecosystems if it also has a high reproduction rate and low specialization. Basically an invasive species in the entire world can alter habitats and may exacerbate the acceleration of unfavorable conditions.
It is not venomous but try holding it as it wriggle in your hand, if the slime doesn’t make it slip out of your hands, the spikes will. Also, it’s delicious when you fry it.
We have alot of this kind of fish in borneo. Especially south borneo. We call it papuyu. Its edible ofc we usually have it fried, soup, also we have it salt fermented. You must try it. Really delicious ✨
@@adyansyah6406 sama aja cuy cuma perkataanya aja di ubah bahasa inggris pak kalo kecil di daerah ane namanya betik tapi kalo sudah 3 jarian di panggilnya betok
I bear witness that this fish is carried by rain. At various occasion during rain I found this fish in uncommon places where there was no water at all prior to rain. There is just one possibility that it was carried by a bird during rain and dropped on land. Other wise there is no justification for that it was scowling over cement floor during other than it was brought by rain. Any way thanks for the nice presentation. I enjoyed a lot out of ur videos
Actually it’s a very tasty and commonly eaten fish In SE Asia. In rainy season these are seen coming out of water and crawling on land. Interesting creature. Nice and informative video though.
I have a feeling evolution and adaptation will level things out even if it takes a few animal species with it. Sometimes all we can do is hope for the best.
@@lanhod well.. They are freshwater type of fish.. Our tips, scale the fish, remove the innards and then soak in lime juice or lime water for 5-10 minutes. It will remove the fishy smells. Deep fried is better but some elders in the past, they prefer to grill them with some aromatics.
we call this fish AR-ARO in the northern part of the philippines. its a fresh water fish that are plenty during rainy season. we used to cook them by roasting them on bamboo sticks while alive. they very tasty tho.
