The Blaze Evercade and its family of consoles are probably more popular than they’ve ever been. There are several Evercade related channels that cover the topic better than I do. But there are a number of undeniable issues surrounding the quality control of these cartridges and systems. Part of this video is a response to another video that addresses these issues. These are issues that should not be ignored.

Evercade still has a lot of positive potential: I still buy their products BOTH for myself AND for my daughter in France... that adds up to a significant amount of money for an unemployed wastrel. However, (1) I can't forgive the boxes and manuals: they're just terrible, they're just so much worse than the Master System, and there's no sign they'll ever get better. (2) And I can't forgive that games like R-Type run poorly (with emulation errors you can see and feel) compared to zero effort emulation on other devices (meaning: I'm not putting any effort into getting the settings just right, etc., just plug and play). With each console, I think, "I hope the company does something even better next" -and most companies (like iiRcade) don't get that chance. Blaze probably does have a bright future, but for consumers, it's a somewhat murky present tense.

Very fair criticisms. I have no idea which cart R-type is on . A buddy of mine who also makes Evercade content mentioned to me the other day that he rarely ever watches other peoples Evercade stuff just cause he doesn’t want to be influenced by other peoples opinions especially on the games themselves. I remember playing r-type on an arcade at a bowling alley when I was a kid. I think the game looked pretty cool, but I remember being very terrible at it.

You packed a lot into this video PK and I get the sense that you’re perhaps on the path to giving up on Evercade? Which would be a shame for your fans (like me) who enjoy all your content, even the non-Evercade stuff! One things for sure, as a creator you have to have passion for it, because it’s not like it’s a job or has particular financial rewards. I’m earlier in the journey, obviously, but absolutely give the podcast a lifespan, maybe a season, maybe two. But when it stops being fun, I’ll give up.

This was great I really enjoyed listening to what you Had to say, I wouldn't worry too much about what people label you As, You know what you are and make videos about what you're passionate about, When it comes to RG85 I remember watching him as a small channel When he seemed to talk more about sega And retro gaming, He is not an intender youtuber, He's just one who makes videos on what will get him The most views And switch videos seem to do that, He has turned into what a lot of Channels in he circles have, More commentary and news, Those guys seem to make The same videos on the same topics At the same time, Don't get me wrong I enjoy much of his content Because I like his personality But Like most people that make a living on this platform He has become a sellout, This is just my opinion people don't have to agree with me that's fine, If a wonderful weekend mate

Thank you ! Yeah, Shawn is a very different kind of RU-vidr than he used to be. Those guys definitely make a lot of similar content. I thought the premise of his video was just hilarious. I was like , hey I can do something like that. At the end of the day, we all get labeled as stuff , people love to categorize,It’s just human nature, I guess.

Evercade are far from perfect , but i love the fact that they keep going ! a trait that small companies find hard to do , your videos are informative and unbiased , not just the Evercade stuff ! @@PKInTheUniverse

Thanks PK. I am a retro gamer but follow you for Evercade content only. I encourage you to be honest. Hoping that the company lives on many more years, however, as they are serving an underserved market of passionate physical collectors. Let’s hope they get their priorities straight and 2025 is a banger with many decent titles to come.

I've always viewed your channel as someone around the same age as my self, (53 cough) who likes gaming and mostly retro. Sure Evercade got me here but have enjoyed some of your other vids as I can related to them in many ways. I'm a dad but did my game sharing with my kids between 2000-2020, they are in thier 20's now. Fond memories of playing Riddick and Alien Vs Predator online on 360 with my son before he went all Call of Duty and Mine Craft lol. Daughter liked Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, the console versions on Game Cube & Classic Xbox. That's about it really... I'm not a stalker as I live in the UK and are many miles away! 😉😁

Thanks man! Your info about the arcade collections back in December was very helpful because that would’ve went below my radar. Yeah really appreciate how much work these guys put into these videos . I was joking with my buddy Marceau the other day about how we should start a Twin Peaks podcast. He was like “ don’t tempt me to come out of retirement of doing podcasts, lol. “

Up Next I’ll be making a video about why I’m not an Nintendo DS channel, haha j/k. Yeah there is definitely nothing wrong with having one specific focus and I’m impressed with the people who can actually do that. The reason it’s an issue for me is because there’s a ceiling to focusing on one system and I think I would get bored of talking about the same system again and again. For me It would be like the equivalent of having a channel focused entirely on Hoover vacuums, it’s OK to talk about other brands , chances are good viewers also might want to hear about that stuff too. I try not to go too far out of my wheelhouse though. Nothing at all wrong with having a niche, but nobody seems to have an answer for how far you should niche down and how far is going too far.
