The least they could have done is have the aura red or something to match the color theme. But Genshin 100% knows what they're doing, so they made an aura that doesn't match her theme, at all. Freaking eye sore.
i mean if youve seen Ayaka's signature (mitsplitter) or Yoimiyas signature (thundering pulse) they dont fight either character's aesthetic in the slightest
this is probably a test so hoyo could see if having pay to drip would deem more profitable for them than not having it. It probably would be bad for the long run though because the players could get annoyed by not getting the drip every new character that comes out especially with the trash rewards
If u rlly rlly think abt it, this is super contradictory to how we always ask for new skins. If u wanted the weapon purely for the drip, it’s basically like a skin (tho more expensive), and if u wanted it purely for the upgrade then u get a nice drip along with it. Trash rewards have nothing to do with this btw, ik the rewards are bad but it’s like a daily part of genshin player’s vocab now.
And the weapon banner is bad, so if people want to drip with different weapons like scyte (which only works on arlecchino, differently from Navia weapon) they will have to go through this awful banner weapon.
@@dotalbo8279 That's a thing I don't get, if Hoyo values their designs so much and they do because so far not a single skin is worth what they ask for but they ain't budging, how come that the signature weapons don't have a F2P equivalent? I mean ain't the two donuts selling like hot bread all the time? Kazuha weapon must be really unpopular since it doesn't look good on him right? right? The reality is that the drip is a good bonus but most of the people ain't pulling for it if the stats are garbage. People asking for more skins are assuming they would be more reasonable with the prices or make them worth it, there's no way a skin for a support that will be on the field for 3-5 seconds is worth 10-20 dollars.
Big reason I enjoy Honkai Star Rail so much is that everyone has their "signature weapons" by default. The Light Cones purely affect their performance in battle, but their visible weapons will be the same for everyone.
honestly though Star Rail's "weapons" are all cosmetic/for show so i dont count them as signature weapons at all but rather compare it to GenshinMC's perma-Dull Blade as their 'weapon'. HSR's real signature weapon is still the light cones which you DO 'have' to roll for still. Half of the HSR cast dont really have actual weapons to begin with since it has more creative freedom to have characters hit enemies with anything BUT weapons. Himeko and Gepards bags/guitar case, Serval's guitar, Clara literally has no weapon it's Svarog... Bailu literally has a Gourd. Welt a Cane, Qingque has a mahjong set, HuoHuo has... a flag? and a tail spirit thing? ETC ETC. Aventurine literally just has bare hands... technically gambling chips i guess if you consider that. calling THOSE weapons is kinda inaccurate as those are anything BUT actual weapons. plus, HSR's style of gameplay literally makes it so you never even notice or focus on the item they're using to hit enemies, but instead notice the cool whimsical animations instead. so excusing those items as a comparison to genshin having ACTUAL weapons per character is inaccurate. search up HSR weapons on google and literally the light cones are what show up.
This is essentially Genshin's first attempt at copying HSR's LCs, ironically. It's a weapon that makes the character 'complete', and it's key use is useless on anyone else but her, thus obligating anyone who gets Arle to get the weapon and anyone who gets the weapon to get Arle.
it will be different in other Hoyoverse future games. The signature weap will change the animation of the character. It will be the FPS gacha game in 2030. Hoyoverse is trying to make a shooting game just like Snowbreak: containment zone

@@Shreyash112 you say that now, but if they actually gave us NOTHING scythe-like for not having the BiS, the community wouldve been raging and demanding "they could've at least given us a scythe-aura instead of giving us nothing at all!" like, let's be real here. My friends and I were literally happy and RELIEVED that they actually at least put a scythe aura on non-BiS weapons instead of leaving us with nothing. Anything they would've done would just been met with the community being unsatisfied either way. just save up for the actual Scythe and wait for a rerun if it's that important.
@@burnedchicken6644 the animation of the scythe stabbing the ground and arle dragging it around and back up would've looked weirder without the aura though. imagine a straight ass spear looking like the air beside it got lodged into the ground? that'd be even worse.
I am disappointed to see that so many people try to defend this or make it out to be not a problem. There is a difference in a barely visible standard looking scythe lazily placed on the tip of the weapon vs a costume made specific design for SSR weapon. As if the character skins weren’t greedy enough already

Bro I got so lucky on that banner. I never pull weapons, but I thought I might as well bc the weapon seems so strong. I pull and at around 70 pulls, I "lose" the 75/25 and get a weapon that's not on the banner. Out of all the ass weapons I could've gotten, I got Primordial Jade-Winged Spear. The chance of that is so low, but I'm glad. I like Arlecchino, but I like my Xiao a bit more.
Arlecchino colors are white, black and red. So if the scythe effect in the non signature polearms were red it would be better. Having this signature weapon that looks as a scythe is cool, but the way it's inplemented is problematic because: 1. The scyte appearance only works when it's on Arlecchino (which is totally different from Navia "claymore" for example, that looks the same for all chars) 2. The non signature version is not good, it glows yellow which doesn't match Arlecchino at all, it would be better as red color to use with Homa, Blackcliff or Deathmatch (examples that fit her color scheme). 3. The weapon banner is bad asf, so if people wanna get this weapon they will have to go through suffering, especially light spenders of f2p. I don't like the direction of this at all, I dont see how this is good when they could just make it like Navia's weapon, and give red color for the non signature polearms on Arlecchino's hands.
Then there's also the thing where other polearm characters will look really weird using the scythe. Their attacks wouldn't make sense, coz scythes involve a lot of slashing, and spears are more stabbing and different kind of slashes. Spears and scythes are not used the same way. Unlike an axe, where normal claymores and axes can be used similarly in combat

@@Gheniel_ The Scythe only working on Arle makes sense cause the Scythe is something she manifests from her own power. the weapon itself is still a spear, not a scythe. so it's just right that no other polearm can access the scythe. and honestly the red glow would still be weird or look bad depending on what non-sig weapon you use. I would've hated the red aura since I used the jade spear on her. the yellowish-white i think is fine tbh. it's better than not having anything at all unless you get the sig. Navia's weapon is different because the weapon being an Axe isnt tied down to any lore. it's just a new weapon look for weapon's sake. the Scythe is HEAVILY tied down to Arle's lore regarding the Crimson Moon Dynasty, something VERY NEW AND BIG. so her weapon being a big deal is honestly JUST RIGHT and lore accurate.
The fire archon most likely will fall under the support role, like every other single archon so far. One of the best supports, sure, but a completely different role from DPS.
@@bloddrinkeraka For one she's technically not an archon, and secondly she is still a support. She is specifically designed to have her party build fanfare stacks, and they get a damage buff the more stacks they have. Aside from that, one of her variations is literally just a healer, while the other is a sub DPS.
yeah, raiden’s sword for 7 seconds per rotation sure is the exact same as a permanent scythe on arlecchino (that you can’t even see while her bond of life is active)

Dragon's Bane also works just fine. I have it on my Arlecchino and she looks stylin' with it, and hell even the odd holographic scythe blade kinda matches the swirling dragon around the speartip as well as the gold on her heels. I'm content and willing to wait for her rerun to get her signature.
If you focus on the dark pyro effects she has when her infusion is active then you can almost ignore the mismatched drip when using stuff like primordial jade spear.
Honestly i would have expected them to do this sooner The fact its taken them this long is quite surprising But we can definitely expect to see more weapons that are not of the generic 5 weapon types in the future
Well, since that HYV would not include a new weapon type for playable characters, I guess that an exclusive skin change for specific characters equipped with their signature weapon is in order. I've seen this in lots of RPG gacha games and I approved of this tactic. More revenue from player pulls of each 5* character and weapon banner will increase.
I understand where some people's frustration comes from. But to me this is actually better: she grows a scythe out of whatever polearm she's holding feels sick af, especially considering that scythe is a somewhat detailed hologram of her signature weapon, not just a random blade. I consider this a much better choice than if she just performs slashing attacks with a spear like what Raiden does. If I have to complain about something, then it will be "making the hologram red"
No they should stick to what they used to do and add the scythe in her attack sequence just like every other character that has a weapon unique to tge character

It'd be cool if hoyo gives the option to change a weapon's color palette to follow the character's. Quite the rework but the drip possibilities might give more incentive to pull weapon banner
tbh I like the non signature weapons better, I think it’s cool that she magically enhances her weapons with the phantom scythe instead of using a real one.
I did something I don't normally do, and pulled for her weapon. This was the first time I've done this. There was no real good FTP alternative, and I had plenty of primos and starglitter saved up, so I figured I'd get it. I'm not happy that I had to do it. Not because the weapon is garbage, but because Arlecchino is so unfriendly towards free-to-play users, since there isn't many weapons that work in tandem with her. If there was just one craftable 4* weapon that gave either ATK or Crit Rate/DMG substats I wouldn't have gotten her weapon.
Honestly, the R5 white tassle looks great with the gold scythe effect. And fits with it better than most of the weapons listed here for going with the white elements of her design rather than red. That being said, I am immediately saving up for her weapon when it comes again.
They could just add her (not ugly) Scythe effect to her E like Childe (E) , Cyno (Q) or Raiden (Q). Instead, they locked it behind extremely expensive and scammy weapon banner. Hoyo become too greedy, they already got all the money in the market (2.3 billion USD NET PROFIT in 2023 to be exact, almost all from Genshin) but still push for even more profit using cheap trick while not improving game as much. At this point I just wait for Azur Promilia, and will surely try Wuthering Wave. At least look like Azur Promilia creator have better reputation as less greedy company.

You may have a point behind the Scythe effect but other than that all of what you said is absolute Mongolian brain works. Instead of blaming a company you should understand hierarchy, because in every company and every agency such thing exists. What happens in games is the decision of the PRODUCER, not the CEO, not the co founder. The producer has the UTMOST authority over the game's development. Instead of pointing your finger at the company, you can point it at the CEO (who is also the producer of Genshin Impact), because he is the one that makes these decisions for Genshin. So please, before you make a retard of yourself at least do the basic research on things.
My f2p friend actually pulled for her weapon, and it cost her only 40 fates too, bruh 😭 (40 includes pulls for Arlecchino as well) I was so sad because I'm f2p too but my luck becomes terrible each year (back in the days, I got Ayaka on pity 23 and got my first 5 star on the 3rd day of joining genshin.. Good old days..)

I was pulling for weapon banner, I was like it’s okay to lose to Lyney’s weapon because I have Tighnari, then I lost to Skyward spine… last neuv/kazuha banner I also pulled for the weapon banner and I was confident to pull for the weapon banner because I have them both but lost to aquila favonia… imagine losing 66/33 2-in-a row 😔

Yeah. I went for the last option. I got lyney's weapon and arlecchino in just 50 pulls(two fates) meanwhile o arlecchino's banner just 10 pulls. But fk my luck in hsr went sht. I lost 50/50 on jingliu and had to do 140 pulls. For her light Cone 46 pulls.
I don't think they will do this again except for extremely special characters. I don't want to bring about leak talk but the next 2 characters aren't visually tied to their weapons.
The drip creep in fontaine has been real. Furina got super close to a rapier. Navia brought the axe, ArleQueeno brought the scythe, and one of next 2 chars goes full rapier. So I think this will continue tho maybe not so ingrained as Arlequeeno is

i got lucky and got her signature weapon on my first 10 pull. I was actually hoping for the featured 4stars on the banner cuz I have most of those at refinement 4 lol
On one hand, I don't like how out of place the aura looks. But on the other hand, the signature weapon goes a bit above and beyond what we'd typically get. I hope in the future, they continue to give signature weapons special treatment for their respective characters but don't end up compromising the aesthetics of the base character for it. If they manage to hit that balance, that'd be the best outcome.
This should have been like this from the beginning, they are signarure weapons after all. I prefer this over the old weapons with the same theme between them. Like Cyno, Nilou and Dehya sharing the same weapon with a different grip.

At the moment, she is the only character which utilizes Bond of Life mechanic, at the same time, she can't be healed, only she can heal herself, there are NO other characters like that.
