I think it is interesting that you brought the example of your friendship in Zimbabwe vs EU, I have had the same experience and I think it is because of our lifestyle. We are busier, usually live alone more frequently than in developing countries and we lack common places where ppl can meet up. Also many opt out of friendships due to high living expenses. Can you see yourself move to another country just to get a more social life? Many of my friends has discussed it and a few want to get out of the rat race and move to a cheaper country.
