Well, where do I start? I've said this plenty of times; I encourage owners to fix their cars as long as they are confident that they are doing it correctly. If you are not sure on what you're doing, you should be doing research, or be supervised by a professional.
On this video, we fitted a customer provided steering rack on an Iveco Daily Maxi- fairly straightforward this job as there is nothing in the way of taking the rack out. We then moved on to a Mercedes Benz C180 to fit a wheel bearing and the most shocking, scary job of them all, fitting a coil spring. This job went relatively well but there is always a little something that gets in the way. THE MOST HORRENDOUS job of them all, 2010 Audi Q3 in for a Parking Brake Diagnostic. Customer stated that his electronic parking brake stopped working due to failed control module (Correctly Diagnosed by the AA). We then later found that there is something very very very dangerous on the repair that was done by the customer. THIS ONE REALLY SURPRISED/SCARED US! Finally, we fixed a crank/cam correlation code on a 2011 Audi A3 2.0 TDI.
Thank you for watching!

I would not class myself as a car mechanic, I had very little money when I bought my first car/van it was a mk 3 escort, this was in 1990, showing my age. But I always I did any repairs on all my cars from ford to mercs to bmw. My last was a ml320. Because of my ill health I no longer drive. The hardest job I ever did was a c220 estate starter, it was a struggle so was done with the use of about 4feet of extensions on my socket which was a bugger because it was snowing. But never the less I did every job myself. Great stuff guys

I fix my own car because I refuse to play $90 an hour to someone slightly more skilled than a basic trainee on $20 an hour and then have the cheek to double the price on parts they buy compared to what I can buy them for at retail price, and they buy them cheaper at trade prices.

I lost count of the number of times garages did either a shoddy job and didn't tighten bolts properly so things fell off on the way home, or tried to rip me off on some parts that didn't need replacing (Refused to show me the old part too- never tell them it's super urgent if you can avoid it, they see the desperation and know your are more likely to Just pay the extra cost and leave). If you find a good garage then use them when you can, with any big job, but it is worth getting handy as best as you can, but still.. peeps have got to know their limits, a lot of jobs need special tools and experience to do properly. Some Technical knowledge and ability is necessary even with fluid changes and wheel changes.

Hello, with all due respect i totally disagree with the title of this vid. I fix most of the things on my own car, my wife's car and peoples cars. I only go to the garage when it's too much hassle, or it is not permitted to do on the side of the road. The cars are in better shape, cause i know what's done to them instead of having to rely on a story that might not be true. Just fixed a mechanical handbrake in ten minutes whereas the owner has been going to a garage that has "fixed" the handbrake over and over again and charged for it. They had overtightened the handbrake cable. But i agree that you got to have some technical "talent", common sense or background cause watching youtube videos only can get you in trouble also. Furthermore I don't know how anyone in their right mind smears conductive copper grease on contacts(electronic handbrake-module) shorting them. I don't know what vid they watched🤣🤣🤣 And if i do a steering rack i put plastic bags of the hoses, duct-tape ém and tie them up as high as possible, to avoid the whole oil-mess. 👊

Can’t stand so of the modern shit they put on cars these days. If your not strong enough to pull an hand break on you shouldn’t be driving. How are you supposed to lock the back wheels up in an emergency, like snow, to rotate the car. Pointless tech that’s more to go wrong.

I only found your channel the other day. I notice you are seem to be generally speaking to those youngsters who have been in the trade for a short while. This is a clever angle. However, maybe you could start educating your audience that a shock absorber is and always has been the spring and the damper has always been the oily bit. It’s slang like “google it” to say shocks etc when talking about the damper. Problem is it’s industry wide. With reference the copper slip on the PCM pins, say why it’s bad. I am certain younger people learning are listening to you. DIY is essential up to a point so educate your subscribers. Do your thing!

Don’t worry about snakes. The 88 year old mechanic retired this year and his workshop, hoist etc is empty now. It’s in Tingha NSW.. 880 people in the village but 17000 in Inverell 25 kms away. Come out on a visa holiday and check things out. Cheers

Should have put a bag over the hydraulic pipe and taped it in place. Saves oil dripping on you

Shit title mate. Let's see you plug in your scanner in a Triumph, MG, Healey, pre 88 Merc, BMW or Porsche or any other manufacturer. See how you get on fixing a problem boy.
