@@MatthewBurnbruh I have some shitty old Ibanez Gio that I have the Floyd Rose blocked on so that it stays in G#. I don't even think it's 25" or higher LMAO
Just a couple of notes from a QC user. Big thing you have clearly missed which will make things so much easier for you! You were bypassing the blocks per scene, but you can do this with ANY parameter by pressing and holding until the symbol appears. Now this parameter is assignable per scene. This being said; 1. You do not need a splitter for the time based effects. Bypass time based effects per scene. The way you did it in the video means you have dry signal mixed in when time-based effects are engaged, which I'm assuming is not what you want.... 2. Regarding changing the pitch shift setting. Change the pitch parameter per scene, press and hold -> four squares, assign per scene! 3. There is a noise gate built into the input block of each line of the grid. This saves a block on the grid :) This is also assignable by pressing and holding so you can switch it off for cleans etc.
I would say you would benefit from reducing your gain on the amp a little but. You have a very mushy tone and in these low tunings you need string seperation
I didn’t know you had to put a cab on it. I thought you could just use your own normal guitar cab. I don’t have a PC setup, so i put it through my orange crush on clean and hope for the best. Lesson learned, that’s why i have so much gain
This is a sick piece of hardware and software, I'm curious, why use the Noise Gate instead of the Compressor? I've always really liked the heavily compressed scooped mids sound with a compressor where it sounds like the guitar is getting sucked through a tube lmfao
I'm a beginner at this tone creating stuff, but I've been wondering: if you hear something you don't like, how do you know if it is the amplifier/the cab/a certain setting within either of those?

It’s all about the amp you favor like this example he knows he likes the peavey range and which cabs are best suited for his type of playing. When you are familiar with that you can eq things a lot faster and avoid having to deal with things you don’t like in your tone.
The cabinet is the one aspect that effects tone the most, it basically defines the character of your tone and does a bunch of shaping in advance, so does the power amp but not as much. So that's usually where you'd start and just go by taste. Everything else is just experience. Too muddy? Usually too much gain or the low end is not tight enough, an overdrive helps. Too fizzy? Usually too much high end. To better cut through a mix and more punch in your tone you need mid frequencies. Too much mids is going to sound boxy though. With these kinds of tone you'll always have to get rid of a lot of bass because the guitar is already tuned super duper low and needs clear separation from the actual bass guitar.
Thanks for the video man. You actually have a noise gate at the very start of the chain. If you click on your input you can activate it and save yourself an extra slot.
Multiscale feels better for sure on 8 strings, but this one has an evertune so that is why I prefer playing it live. Now that multiscale evertune guitars are a thing though, I would happily go with that if they work as intended. Hopefully I will get to try one soon
@@Sierra-xi2ty At the moment only Aristides offers a multiscale Evertune, because Aristides custom made a housing for the multiscale Evertune using Evertune's modules. That being said, Evertune have authorized Aristides to do so.
Yooo which IR are you using? In your "old" preset you are using an IR Loader. I think an IR is a huge part of the tone you are getting. Which ones do you like?
dope video i enterd the giveaway too i never win shit so if i win itd be nuts but i prolly wont lmaooo. also we have the same taste in tone man i was thinking the same shit when you were dialing it in lol
i got a killer 8-string tone with my helix LT by splitting the signal, and routing the lower end to a bass amp/cab and then the traditional guitar frequencies to a guitar amp/cab, and then merging them back together. Sounds fuckin siiiiiick.
FYI the Cortex has an input gate. So if you click where it says In 1, there is a gate already there so you don’t need to add one, you just have to turn it on
Why did you drop the Line 6 Helix and Seymour Duncan power stage? I know you been moved on from that but I’m curious. Been a fan for years, keep it up brotha
Helix is a great platform too don't get me wrong! I just wanted to try the QC since I worked with Neural for a number of years now with their plugins and I didn't need both after I got the QC.
@@BaenaCarcosa ahhh that makes QC sounds fire. Currently running the helix with the power stage because of one of your videos a while back. Never been so happy with tones and effects I have at my disposal. My metal tone is candy for my ears. This channel definitely helped a lot towards my sounds thanks!
Not fortunate enough to have a Quad Cortex, but even just using Neural DSP on my PC…any tuning below Drop A just sounds awful. If anyone has any other tips or videos they could pass along to help I would greatly appreciate it
I use the neural plug ins for everything, covers, recording, producing etc My biggest takeaway when it comes to drop tunings is, if you’re going under Drop A, I’ve gotten the best results with an active guitar, and by actually being in that tuning. The pitch shifter is good, but nowhere near great. Lower the gain on the amp for some clarity and don’t try to overcompensate bass in the EQ, if you’re adding bass to your project/cover That’s the magic of plug ins, you don’t gotta commit to an amp recording So experiment with the EQ and trust your ears Also Gojira,Nolly and Fortín are great for drop tunings
With the neural DSP plugins specifically, I've found the tone gets really abrasive and hissy if you crank the tone knob on the overdrives. I usually keep it somewhere around 9 or 10 o'clock to avoid this
Try on a desktop or different browser on your phone. It seems to be working for most people but some people are having issues on mobile. Looks like there are already about 150 entries so far so it definitely works!
@@BaenaCarcosa I tried on multiple browsers on desktop and on mobile and when I submit the email it just refreshes the same page. 😕 oh well. I'll keep trying.
@@riverryan6216 Yeah it wasn't showing up on my browser so i tried a new browser and made sure to tick that checkbox but it still wasn't working. I tried again a few hours later and it finally worked.
There's maybe one or two 8 string players out of every single one that I have ever heard that I can tolerate listening to from a musical standpoint. It all sounds absolutely horrible to my ears, which was really strange to me when the 8 string started becoming popular a few years ago because I love heavy music. I have arrived at the conclusion that very few people actually use the 8 string properly. I don't know if it's technique or what but hardly anyone can manage to make the instrument sound any different than some clumsy little kid at guitar center randomly strumming the open low strings.
Try Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), not related to NeuralDSP, its free open source amp capturing that is more true to life than Kemper/Axefx/QC, its incredible, anyone can capture any amp or pedal full rig with the cab baked in or direct. The Yerasov Meshuggah capture is incredible
Thats awesome!! Any reason you didnt use the Input 1 Noise gate instead of adding a block? Maybe is a feature you haven't seen since is a bit non intuitive? I didnt like their update where it changed how scene assignments work and also took me forever to figure out how to change values of knobs to scenes, before was press and hold, and just tap the switch you wanted it on and done... now there is a new setting somewhere. But it's awesome. I only gig with QC now as well, 1 preset with 8 scenes and thats it for about 3 years! lol For carcosa's recordings, do you and cooper double track each rythm to sound this awesome?? or is it 1 rythm each and done?
