This is Wilmslow. Our Village is beautiful, when you take some time to stop and look. Surrounded by greenery, rivers and fields. Take a trip with us as we fly over Wilmslow, Cheshire. SK9.
Situated in the north of England, 11 miles (18 km) from Manchester city centre and 7 miles (11 km) from Macclesfield, Wilmslow village centre is focused upon Bank Square, Grove Street and Water Lane. Although Bank Square has traditionally provided the location for many of the village's banks, the name in fact originates from the bank, or slope, leading down to The Carrs recreational fields and up towards the railway station. The River Bollin flows through The Carrs and once provided the power source for nearby Quarry Bank Mill, now a National Trust site, and enjoyment for the local population.
Before the railway came in 1842, Wilmslow comprised only a few farms and a church.

In 1950s it was an RAF basic training camp. I know, i was there in 1951

Many years ago (about in 1985) I had a penfriend in Wilmslow named Anne Baker. She had lived in Overhill Lane then moved to Carzen Mews (May be I have written the last name incorrectly). She was good friend.

Moved to Wilmslow many years ago, used to be a really nice place. The surroundings still are but the town is a dying death. Constantly new bars opening and closing. Town centre traffic and polution is terrible now. Floodings happen far too often around the town especially the Carrs. Druggies around the park, needles being found etc. The only main positive is my house price has increased vastly since the 90s. I feel the town is being left behind with other towns having much more added investment and much cleaner such as Knutsford, Congleton and Alderley Edge. I still love it here though!
