Journaling: 1)Weeding Identify deep rooted problem and remove them. The objective is getting rid on the roots to deep constant problems. - Define the problem objectively, and think about it objectively (how it is in reality) -Think about it subjectively, think about the problem it’s causing -Summarize it in a single sentence and write it on the top of the page -Write about the problem, just write about it as you feel -Soon or later you will find and rationalize the solution of the problem and you will find it on your very eyes written on that page How to do it: Cue → Routine → Reward -Cue: something that reminds you of doing the event -Routine: doing the event -Reward: something that you benefit from doing the event 2)Reflect Reflect on the past (day, week, month) You need a cue: for example brush your teeth -Reminds you of congratulating yourself for the things you have done well in that period -Pinpoints the things you could do better -Makes you stay on track and understand if you are actually getting closer to your goals 3)Planning Planning ahead for the future, for example every single evening or morning you plan tomorrow or the rest of the day -The next day you wake up knowing exactly what you need to do -Reduces thinking, increases actions -Plan whole year ahead (printing whole year calendar), this way your effectiveness will increase drastically it’s suggested that the cue for this routine is to reflect, but you could just set up a reminder on your phone, it’s up to you. 4)Note taking Use your jurnal to take notes of the thing you are consuming -Improves your attention -Allows you to use that information everytime you need it It’s suggested to make rules to yourself in order to not waste time being inefficient (for example watching instructional youtube videos without taking notes) 5)Questions The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions that you ask yourself -Asking yourself the right questions is fundamental to make the right decisions in the future -By asking yourself questions you get knowledge from yourself instead of the outside (usually when we face a problem we search the solution outside ourselves EG: youtube, google) -There is a huge amount of perfect answers deep down in our brain that need to be pulled out by asking yourself the right questions it’s suggested to ask yourself what your life is gonna look life in 10 years time if you don’t change, if you are not happy with your answer then you need to ask yourself how you are going to change. 50 best questions to implement: andrewkirby.net/journal-prompts P.S I'm very very happy that my notes helped you all.

So true. Don't be afraid to just vomit those words onto the paper. Especially when you first start. Whatever comes to your mind, right it down. The more embarrassing and self conscious you are about something, the more powerful writing it down will be. No one is going to read it(unless you want them to). Heck, if you're afraid of that ever happening, write it down, follow the rest of the steps outlined in the video, and when your finished, tear out that page and destroy it.

Yeah, that never happened for me...except that one day I looked back at all the lessons I learned in my life, and I realized that sometimes that teacher is a stranger, an author, or an event. It/they teach you the lesson you are ready for at that moment. You might not find a mentor as a person, so keep your eyes open for life mentoring you...because it always is.

I have to put in a plug for handwriting journal entries. For me, possibly because I'm older, writing in my journal, on paper, with a good pen that is a joy to write with, makes a huge difference in the benefit I derive from the process. I also type very fast with no shortage of typos; I find that writing thoughts out causes me to slow down and reflect on what I'm writing. But again, it could just be that I'm old and that's how my brain first learned to keep a journal. Great video!

Recently I started a reflective journal but, I was confused on how to reflect and how to organize my reflections on one page I realized it's best done by asking yourself questions as follows:- - what have I done good today? - what have I done bad today? - what can I do better tomorrow? - what have I learned today? That's as simple as it gets it's organized, keeps you aware of events your emotions and actions about those events and gives you a perspective on what qualities in yourself that need improvement.

I have tried these steps numerous times; the questions to ask myself are awesome, I get answers, but I get stuck on what issues I need to work on first. if I start with anger, then pain, fear, jealousy comes up. this is where I get stuck, it's like a Ferris wheel there's no end. I get mad and stop working on myself. I start again with a different emotions, I go back to all the other crap I've been dealing with all my life. These steps are a good start. I will continue to find the answers. Thank you for your time and effort Andrew!!

Ive used journaling for the purpose of inducing lucid dreaming. It works. At the end of the night I simply write out my day on paper. Then I use it as my AA tenth step also. But when I write it out before sleep it comes out in your dreams in interesting ways. You can find answers in your dreams. Then in the morning, (this is the most important part) as soon as you wake up, before you get out of bed start writing down your dreams. Even if you don't remember them just start writing. Eventually you will remember more and more of your dreams. The stream of consciousness gets longer and longer and lucid dreaming becomes more possible. Also through the day ask yourself, am I dreaming? ? You will start doin it when you dream and it will induce lucidity.

I started studying philosophy a few months back and not only found Stoic Philosophy, but found some of your videos on it. I knew of this one but didn't get around to watching it. I did take a note on it though on paper and in my mind. As far as I can tell you have sort of an uncommon take on Stoic philosophy with your reviewing the day in the morning and evening. To me, it means practices that develop self awareness, a topic I study. I knew that when I finally saw this video that I would be able to extend my take on that. Anyway, I've finally seen the video and got what I expected. I work on how humans can adapt to the changes going on in the world and self-awareness is an important part of it. For various reasons, one of my takes on it relates to breathe control - something essential to sports, music, and many other endeavors. It's more of a physical awareness. If you are bored, glance at zagwap.com to see what I am trying. If you are really bored or curious about human genetics (we have to adapt both genetically and strategically) you might glance at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wjVieFKevMk.html Thank you for your good work, M

Hey Andrew, the “cue, routine, reward” model you discussed reminds me of the “hooked model” by Nir Eyal which he explains why digital products and platforms, such as Instagram have actually been designed to tap into human psychology to play on how habits are formed. It actually explains why they’re so addictive and habitual and he expands on the “reward” to be rewards of the tribe, the self etc. Not exactly 100% relevant but reminded me and it’s interesting stuff you should check out his book if you’re interested!

I'm From Brazil and recently I have been Studying about brain functioning and how to improve my abilities of learning, reading, and writing. After that, I knew the journaling path and it brought me to your channel. This morning have been the first time that I wrote and now I'm excited to apply that technic you have taught us. I'll return here 1 or 2 months later to give you a feedback. Thank you so much for the tips !!

Andrew , you are at a high level for real. You content is amaizing. I was listening to Maxwell audiobooks and I think you are a great example about what he describes about being generous with others, being a good mentor and trying to trascend with the acts. Respect and love from Arg (LATAM)

Andrew you are the shit! Saw the first Video had to abonate, I like every video I watch from you because you really give value, so much value! I am so glad that I found your channel because this is what I needed and I couldn't find help. It so hard to get a place for therapie for example because anxiety and all the other stuff needs to go, but the steps to get help are many and sometimes they don't lead anywhere or give poor results because of poor help. Your channel provides so much... I will use your help and I am super grateful that you do this! there are so many selfimprovement channels but yours is incredible! keep it up!

I dont take notes on videos. I just put on videos in the background of my cooking or chores. But i definitely cannot read any of my books without having my notebook ready for notes. I read books on health, neuro psychology, spirituality, and physics so i always feel like i cant read it without taking notes. Its great seeing your videos basically telling me im doing everything right. I think one thing u forget to mention is that this practice isnt permanent and once you have it down then it comes like second nature and no need to journal anymore :D

Nice Andrew. The perfect nudge for me. This is the perfect "next chapter" for me. In my 22 years in business I always carried a recorder to note my thoughts throughout the day. These thoughts were then listed at the end of the day as "action items". This was a way to not let the thought evaporate and become just another fleeting noise in my mind in the course of a busy work day. It was a powerful "secret' I'd discovered. Your thoughts on journaling are quite timely for me today. Thank you! P.S. I've always loved to write, so the bells are ringing, the birds are singing... :)

I appreciate the deep dive into journaling. I have been journaling for a few years on and off. As you can imagine the benefits and impacts has also been sporadic. Your video has helped me clarify my process. Now I use two journals. One for planning my day and one for weeding. It’s also great to hear your success. Thanks for sharing wonderful content.

So many questions to ask my self, and feels like so little time. Its a mater of breaking it down and taking small steps. For me something like a question a day or span answering over 2 days.

Brother , I started journaling three months ago but it is as random as it gets . I talk to god in it, I try and integrate my ego in it ,analyse social situations and myself in them. Overall it has helped me tremendously and that was before finding out about this video. Thank you for being you and doing what you are doing. I see order coming to the chaos and look forward to that . Much respect and all the best .
