I've owned 3 Vulcan nomad's.....the 1500 and 1600 are awesome bikes. They came with hard saddlebags, large windshield, floor boards and heel toe shifter. I've also owned 2 Electra glides. The nomad is a really good highway Cruise and easy around town. If anyone is looking for a good cruiser bike that won't breakdown and break the bank, look at the Kawasaki Vulcan nomad's. Water cooled, shaft drive, rear air adjustment shocks. Add a set of Vance and Hines exhaust and you got a sweet ride for a third of the price as a Harley. Cheap to maintain and service.

You should know that a 240 rear tire fits on the VN2000. I owned a 2005 Ltd for 5 years and wore out two 240’s. Surprisingly, the larger rear improved the handling, which was great to begin with.

I had an 06 vulcan 2000 it was awesome put over 30k miles on it but I wanted a full bagger so I got a vulcan vaquero 1700 with the 6 speed. On the highway it cruises better keeps the revs down and with me and my wife on it, it still pulls plenty hard. The only thing I miss is saying it's 2000 cc's. But I still loved the vulcan 2000 so glad I owned it for about 7 years.

I was working at the Kawasaki shop when those came out. As a mechanic they were very cool to work on. Very reliable motorcycle. We sold a bunch of those bikes. The 900cc version was very popular too. You know me, more of a sport bike rider. This was one bike I could see in my fleet! Excellent cruiser of the time! You could spend a long time in the saddle and never be bored!!

As the owner stated regarding the highway pegs, "It's nice to have the air going up your pant legs", That may be true until a bee flies up there. I've had my share of issues with bees going where they shouldn't go and its difficult to slow down and get off the road fast enough before they sting ya. Nice bike. Probably the only thing bigger and more comfortable would be the Triumph Rocket.
@parkert5829
@parkert5829 2 года назад
Only 2 bikes are bigger than the V2k that are mass produced. The Triumph, which is a 3 cil, and the Boss Hoss which is a V8 engine. The V2K is the largest mass produced bike ever made. Some might argue that the 131ci HD's are larger but that's a stage 4 mod you have to purchase, so I don't really count that as mass produced.

I currently own a 2006 Vulcan 2000cc put a huge intake, power commander, car tire for the rear and straight pipes it has beat every 600cc rocket I’ve ever raced until about 140 mph. I also converted it to a bobber to get rid of some of the weight. I’ve put 70 thousand hard miles on it and it still rides like new. Cool video!

As a proud owner of a V2K and a V2K classic LT. This is my favorite bike I've ever been on. It's so smooth. I only have one dislike on the bike and that is only able to ride 150 miles before needing to refuel, even with a 5.5 gallon tank. I put a chip commander on it to help with the MPG but it didn't help as much as I thought. And, yeah, it's a 2 liter bike so I understand why the MPG is bad. Other than that, it's a perfect bike for advanced riders.

Maybe it's operator error or that I live in Miami with a ton of stop and go traffic.

The louder bikes warn the animals I think. I don't want a quiet bike. People and animals wouldn't see me aside from my lights. I love my Nomad 1700. I must admit, it is a lot bigger than my Vulcan 500. A big adjustment that scared me because of its power and weight. I'm used to it now and glad I made the choice. It definitely loves the speed and rides better the faster it goes. You need the weight when it's windy. My Vulcan Nomad is loud. It's a monster. If you are a new rider, get a smaller bike. Get the feel of it and if you drop it, it won't be an expensive mistake. Always get a cheap bike to practice on. Work your way up from there. Just a couple things more. No flip flops, shorts, or tennis shoes. I see riders outfitted that way and it makes me cringe. Imagine dumping your bike wearing that stuff doing 55 and dumping your bike on the road. It ain't pretty and riding your riding days are over. Maybe even your life. Wear a helmet and be safe. Trying to look Kool will get you killed.

The Japanese bikes are built to last. They tend to be more reliable and dependable than that of a Harley. The Japanese bikes are cheaper to maintain and the maintenance is far less than a Harley. I got my VN2000 just after Thanksgiving (2021) and have put over 5K miles on her so far. It had less than 9K miles on it when i got it and at $5K I could'nt see getting a comparable Harley and spending over twice to three times as much $. She holds 5.5 qts of oil and has three drain plugs ! Tires for it are not cheap I'm finding out. I'm just waiting for the weather to cool off a bit. Over 85 degrees and I do feel the heat! 1-3 gears are governed, I suppose to keep front wheel on the ground, but if you hitting it hard you'll notice A jump in acceleration when shifting to 4th That's not a LT windshield. If you accelerate to cruising speed in 4th then shift to 5th you'll never feel the need for a 6th gear......that goes for all bikes I might would have another VN2000, but I'd rather have the 1500 or 1600 Nomad(I believe that's a Nomad windshield) When they went to 1700 they shortened the tank and made me feel cramped, got rid of the voyager pretty fast.

As an old guy I rider a bottom of the range 2010 Vn 900 custom as I wanted a lighter bike having shot hips. But all the models have understressed power plants and are trouble free. Liquid cooled simple electrics and belt drive gives you a long life expectancy

Years ago when they first came out I bought a Vulcan and found it extremely dangerous to ride, ended up selling it I think 2 weeks later. The problem? It had the most vicious clutch engagement I'd ever encountered. No problem on dry pavement, other than the drivetrain shock, or when you were shifting up or down while rolling, BUT, starting off in a gravel parking lot, or wet pavement? It could jerk the rear right out from under you in the blink of an eye. I trust Kawa changed that clutch, as the dealer assured me, he could not soften the engagement.

I ride an M109, the power is sensational and it also handles great. It’s not “armchair” comfortable like the Vulcan (I haven’t ridden the VN2000 but have tried the VN900 Classic) because it’s a performance cruiser so the upper body and arms are slightly more forward and “engaged” with the bike, but I find the M109’s deep sculpted seat and cruciform riding position suits me just great, it’s certainly comfortable enough, more so than my Z1000SX which is marketed as a Sports Tourer. The only limitation for long distance is the lack of luggage but I have semi rigid leather panniers which are enough for a trip if you only need to carry the essentials.

I would be adding an ATV lounge to the back and probably a trailer hitch. A small matching Glamper would be a great combination. Plus the M109 ergos are better for a 36" inseam. All it would need is+3" forward controls and +3" tall seat.

Before I brought my CTX700N I was looking to this this bike same color as well. This kawasaki vulcan is a great bike and sounds very lovely Reason why I didn't get it was because someone brought it before I could
