Thanks for your commitment and sharing with the community, i have avidly viewed all of your videos to date and have been trying to square them with some of the other (likely outdated) learning and techniques I have studied. I am curious about your position on "researched keywords" e.g. Publisher Rocket based keywords that are RELEVANT. You have not mentioned or weighed in on the value or appropriate use of such. I have been using PR to find the most relevant keywords, with highest search volume and lowest competition (no stuffing here) as the basis of my keyword inventory, yet, you appear to be 100% focused on relevancy regardless of search volume? Would really like to hear about your view on this topic.

Hey Barry, Your videos are very concise and informative, I believe they are the most valuable I've seen related to KDP. I was wondering how this advice would relate to fiction or children's fiction, where the title is closely related to the storyline? TIA for any insights you might have.
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
Very good question. Usually with children's books the story has an underlying theme or something that the story is meant to teach to kids. That's usually the keyword or search term you want to target in your subtitle. For example 'apology books for kids' or 'how to make friends for kids'. These are search terms you can include in your subtitle to tell amazon where to place you. So your full title can be something like 'Sarah and Jacks Adventures: A fun tale on how to make friends for kids' or something like that. That title is just to showcase my example.
@janeouttridge2662
@janeouttridge2662 8 месяцев назад
@@barrygeorgioukdp Thanks, I feel that it sometimes a bit tougher to 'place' a children's book, especially if there are multiple messages or it's just fun. I guess more effort needs to be made in the description and A+ content.

I pray your course shows us how to find profitable niches for high content books (ie. $12 and up. this way to make $5 profit plus a bit more to pay for ads). idk. im finding it so hard to find a niche.. i don't have the course yet and new to kdp so im practicing going through amazon looking at categories trying to find niches without so much competition and good BSR on page 1, etc. but its soooo hard. its disheartening. activity books, coloring books, etc have 7.99 prices so its hard to make a profit like you say. When doing a book title, does a very direct approach with keywords work for the title? Broad = adult coloring book, subject = flower handbags, target = women. Book title = Flower Handbags Adult Coloring Book For Women.
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
Great question. The priority for your title is to be super clear. If you can fit in some keywords in there then go for it but as long as your title is clear and the shopper understands what the book is about just by reading it you should be good :)

This is what I can't get my head around; the research itself, and also, where I am entering keywords other than title, subtitle, and description, and the 7 while publishing. Are those the only places? How is it possible to rank for, say 25 keywords for example?
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
Great question. Amazon gathers sales data which means it knows which keywords your book gets sales from. After it gathers enough sales data Amazon can start expanding your keyword reach and you can start ranking for 25 keywords or more, if your book is converting very well :)

All my keywords are relevant. I cherry picked them. But strange this is that most of my sales come from "loose match", "substitutes" and "complements". Only a few come from "close match". What do you think of this? Am I waisting my time doing keyword research? I'm running auto ads.
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
That's completely normally. I will need to look at a bunch of different factors to let you know exactly what's going on such as how much sales data amazon has gathered, bidding strategy, how competitive your bids are, your conversion rate for your main keywords, your SEO and a lot of other factors. But if you are running ads and only have an auto campaign set up, that's like having a Ferrari but only going 30mph :)

Thanks for the video. Apart from what the book is related to should some of the boxes be for words that give a physical description of the book like colour eg ‘red, flower, vintage’ etc? And another for things like ‘gift’ ‘Xmas present’ etc? And another for similar words eg for a dog notebook ‘canine, puppy, pooch’ etc? I keep seeing others do this but not sure if correct or not!? Thanks..
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
Really good question. I would say on two things. First thing, how related is that keyword to your book. If it's highly related it might be a good keywords to add. The second thing is to check for search volume. You don't want to put keywords that no one is searching for because if you show your book to no one then no one will buy :)

@@barrygeorgioukdp Thanks man, I have my 2nd book launching today. My first book I had my ads doing well and profitable but it was a seasonal niche so things have slowed down. At least I have those ads dialed in for when that season comes around again. I liked your idea of hammering the ads for the main keywords at and spending the money on those keywords at first to improve organic rank so I'm trying that this time. I'm not sure if my niche this time is the best but I will just have to compare it's performance and go from there.

When doing the title and subtitle, is it ok to put the same words that are for other keywords in it? Like for example, would you put “how to draw horses for kids” and “how to draw horses for children” in the same title? Most people would say you are “wasting” keyword space. Sometimes I find it hard to find different enough keywords that are at the same time relevant for SEO in the title.
@barrygeorgioukdp
@barrygeorgioukdp 8 месяцев назад
In this case, I would have "How to draw horses for kids" in the title but include the word "children" in the subtitle. You don't need to have the full phrase in your subtitle, Amazon will still be able to replace "Kids" with "Children". So the subtitle could be "Learn to draw 101 horse poses for children" or something like that

Any suggestions on how I can come up with subtitle with Keywords and Attention grabbing words? Thanks. Your videos have been helpful.

Love your username. Personally I would look at the competitors and see if any of them have any good subtitles to get ideas from. As long as your subtitle explains exactly what's inside your book and who your target audience is you should be could. '30 adorable spot the difference farm animal puzzles for clever toddlers' or something like that can work well. Don't just copy and paste that subtitle because I've literally put 10 seconds of thought to it. If you spend some time thinking what will appeal to your target audience you can easily come up with a much better subtitle than what I just gave you :)👍
