As a lifelong Minnesotan, I can say with complete confidence that the Vikings could find a way to miss the playoffs. It's not about the players or the coaching or anything, it's just that they're a professional sports team that plays in Minnesota, which means they specialize in letting their fans down.

Any definitive statement involving the Minnesota Vikings is a dumb statement.

This year’s defensive roster with last year’s scheme would have been historically awful. That bad defense last year lost the #7 ranked CB, #17 ranked ED, and the #9 ranked LB off this season’s roster. Even with the better DC this year, they could still be as bad as last year just because the defensive roster isn’t nearly as talented. That team had 0 business winning 13 games last season, and it showed in the playoff loss. They played like a 9 win team, and they benefited a lot from a very weak schedule. They played only 5 playoff teams last season, and 1 was without their QB. Add in the games against GB and Detroit whose combined record was .500, and they were 5-5. They were dominated MUCH more than they were dominant. Look at their second game against teams they played 2x. We’re going to take week 18 against Chicago out because they were actually trying to lose 😂 but the other 3 games…Game 1 against GB +16 then -24 in game 2. Game 1 against Detroit +4 then -11 in game 2. Game 1 against NYG +3 then -7 in game 2. In every one of those games, they scored less AND allowed more points in the 2nd game. They regressed on BOTH sides of the ball every time, and not 1 of those 3 teams won more than 9 games in the season. That is not a good team at all. And now this season, their SOS is harder too. They’ll be fighting an uphill battle to get to 9 wins.

@@nickbauer1571 Just looking at the numbers, the Vikings’ defense didn’t really have a drop off from 2017 to 2018. But from watching the games, one would know that this wasn’t the case. Griffen had attend to his mental health and missed 5 games. He didn’t look like the same dominant pass rusher when he came back. Linval Joseph got banged up as the season wore on and his performance dipped. Neither Jaleel Johnson or Jalyn Holmes made an impact. Kendricks, Barr and Rhodes had lackluster performances. In the playoffs in 2019, the defense struggled against the run and was unable to create bad situations for the 49ers. The offense struggled against an aggressive and effective rush by San Francisco who also shut down the run game.

We still have yet to see Joe behind a competent and healthy o-line. 2021 they were the worst line in football. Then last year, they lost 3 o-line starters 2 weeks before the playoffs started

Personally I'd rank them as follows: 1. Mahomes 2. Rodgers (if he's healthy) 3. Burrow 4. Allen 5. Herbert 6. Hurts 7. Cousins 8. Lawrence 9. Jackson 10. Stafford And the only reason I put Hurts above Cousins is the running aspect. I really feel like a lot of the rankings you see online are from people who buy into the Cowboys and Fields hype, and the Cousins hate, so they put them ahead of Cousins. I've seen very little to convince me that Prescott is better than Cousins, and absolutely nothing to convince me Fields is. It will be interesting to see where Rodgers ends up on the lists this year, now that he's healthy and theoretically in a better mental space. Maybe he's still the same Rodgers who I'm putting at #2 on this list, or maybe he's the Rodgers we saw for much of last season (who belongs much, much further down this list, closer to 20 than to 2).

The Chiefs have been and are far from a complete team. Mahomes defense has kept him from achieving 5 straight Super Bowl appearances. His defense beat him in his 2 AFC Championship game losses. Dee Ford lined up a yard offsides against the Pats and the D-line couldn't tackle Joe Burrow in the first Bengals game. The Chiefs defense has been average at best, near the bottom of the league at worst. Mahomes has never had a 1000 yd rusher. He has never had 2 top quality starting WRs. His O-line was terrible until 2 years ago, it was on full display in the SB loss to the Bucs. The Chiefs are just adequate in a lot of positions. They are excellent at QB, TE, and HC.
