I prank call a notorious landlord who’s apartment building has dead cockroaches, needles, knives and razor blades littering the hallway. There are so many violations and renters don’t feel safe. Even worse, if you complain, he runs you out. It’s time for payback - the Ownage way.

Ive actually never had a bad landlord. Actually on the opposite side, i had a landlord that wanted to fix every issue we had no matter how small, even when we offered to fix the problem ourselves, our landlord insisted on fixing it for us

I usually would call and say "hey, just letting you know, this isnt working or this is going on. I can fix it but i just wanted to let you know." He usually responded with "no man, dont worry about it. You're MY tenant, ill fix it". Super nice guy

My worst experience in an apartment was that my ceiling came crashing down. Revealing all kinds of mold. Took them 2 weeks to fix it while i still lived there and paid rent.

Mine had tons of mold in a corner. They painted over it with "moldacide" found out 3 months later it was paint when it came back. They had to get a plumber to tear down the dry wall to fix the inside after we threatened the break the lease (and they stacked tons of "violation" fines) they said it was our fault for not maintaining the unit properly lol

My worst experience was these toilet flies. They were coming through the vents on the floor. I was on the second level, this was during winter and it was freezing outside so they were being bred in the apartment on the first floor. This old lady had like 3 dogs and was a hoarder. So i would have to kill flies in my own bedroom before I could sleep. I had to buy fly traps and I even bombed my apartment and it wasn’t until that point I figured out the source. After the hoarder was evicted, they had to clean everything and kill the source. I total, lived that nightmare for nearly 3 months. I worked a 12 hr shift just to come home to deal with flies that weren’t even my fault.

since i was 8 until just a week ago (im 25) i lived in a house owned by a slumlord. waterbugs, roaches, centepedes, etc EVERYWHERE!!! the kitchen sink quit working and got mold all in it and he never had it fixed. the oven broke and caught fire 4 times and each time it did he "fixed it" himself instead of hiring someone who knew what they were doing and it got to the point the oven was stuck on BROIL and wouldnt turn off no matter what so we had to flip off its switch on the breaker box and then tape it to make sure it stays in the "off" position. one toilet broke the other was fucked up and the entire house had a thick coat of green mold all in it and the sinks and all of the basement/garage/downstairs bedroom were filled with black mold to the point a string of black mold came out of the bathroom sink. not to mention the rancid putrid tap water from the rotted pipes in the house.

My Ex and I were renting a really nice condo, turned out the owner was in prison and the property management company never told us, so literally nothing would get fixed until the last day that it legally had to be fixed, because they couldn't get in contact with the owner to get approval to come fix anything. It was so damn frustrating to never know why the hell nothing was getting done.

Most smaller companies don’t want to put themselves in the position where they can get sued, especially when it comes to things that are real easy to look up. I spent hours reading the landlord tenant act to make sure I understood the timeframe and how it worked.

I think many have horror stories with landlords. Mine was: I was living with my parents and my dad died. Landlord came to us and lured me into signing the contract so that I was the owner now. I wasn't making that much money so I could not afford that rent and the landlord knew it. He was knocking every day on the door to tell us to fuck off. He started to consult lawyers.. We were so desperate because my dad died, and we were in the process of grief. But this asshole was a total nightmare. No compassion, no empathy. Only money in mind. Not that he was dependent of us, he was a rich fuck. I was searching for a new apartment and a new job while preparing a funeral and what not... I eventually found a new job and apartment after 3 months. But until then, my mom and I were living a nightmare on earth. All this was 7 years ago.

I rented a room in a house from a guy who had no business owning property. This was in 2007, so during the housing bubble. He was only a few months older than me, I was 28 at the time. He was horrible about maintaining the place. There were lots of shady things that went on but the worst was when our electricity got cut off in the middle of July because he hadn’t been paying the bill. My bedroom was in the basement, it had no windows (it’s probably illegal to rent out a room like that) and it was 95 degrees outside. We got it turned back on within 24 hours, but then a week later the gas got cut off for the same reason. They don’t just cut off your utilities unless you’re very far behind on payments, and they would give you several warnings. I moved out shortly after that. I learned that the house went into foreclosure. Back then banks used to just toss out tenants when they foreclosed on rental properties. I was glad that I made the decision to move out. It was a hellhole

About last year me and my girl were living in our first house together on a 1 year lease, long story short this is when the housing market was crazy, so she had sold our house with still 4 months on our lease (this was also mid pandemic) but she said the new owners would let us stay since we were always on time with rent, and I kept up on maintenance myself etc. but unbeknownst to me and my fiancé she lied to us about the new owner letting us stay so she could get a couple more months rent out of us during the closing process and with 2 weeks left before the closing date is when she finally let us know that we had to move, so thankfully me and my fiancé saved as much money as possible during the pandemic because finding a house to rent in 2 weeks mid pandemic should’ve been impossible but we made it happen, oh and also she tried to keep our deposit because she said she needed to include it into closing costs or because she promised it to the new owner in their botched contract so I had to get a lawyer and fight with her realtor for our deposit back as well, that was my worst experience with a landlord 😂

Our pipes have been “fixed” 5 times and the last time the owner wanted to charge us $1,025 for the “repair”. I believe those issues are landlord’s duty to fix since we aren’t the owners.
