Entrepreneur Frank Janicek is hoping The Dragons are willing to take a chance on love for his relationship-based board game, 'Take Me To The Cleaners.'
The game exposes the strength and weaknesses of a couple's relationship and Frank believes it is worth a staggering 1.5 million, despite his lack of sales. He is asking for a 150K investment in exchange for 10% of the business. Frank wants the money to manufacture thousands of games but that's not how Robert and Kevin play.

no need to adjust his valuation for the Dragons - they pointed out that they and their investment is not a necessary part of how this business is most easily and most likely to succeed..

There’s lots that goes into companies besides just sales, such as: licences, patents, certifications, etc.

For crying out loud, license it to Parker Brothers or Mattel or somebody. They are the ones with expertise at manufacturing, distribution and sales. Maybe you wouldn't make quite as much but it would save you the time, money, headache and risk of trying to do it all yourself. In fact, since they already have the shelf space, etc. you might make even more rather than trying to elbow your way in when they are already there.

The most useful lesson I learned from the Den was not to ask for what you need, and rather ask for what your business is worth. It is so common for people to make that mistake.

I think it has something to do with Trivial Pursuit. Developed by some Canadians who then made millions off of it, so every Canadian that grew with Trivial Pursuit thinks they can follow that model.

lol do you know how much it costs to develop such a game? Board games are 3 design pieces and some text. Apps are all of that, plus many more zeroes, spent in perpetuity as you keep "fixing" the game. Unless you're a software house, you can't just have a game developed and be done with it.

@Dracula's Traphouse Exactly. The few that are interested, and it makes for a fun night with family or friends, will have their games already. There's nothing new that will sell a board game. Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, any of those that have any interest have already overflooded the market.
