Perception is everything! Hardship can level a person or it can teach them invaluable lessons. Whenever I hit a hard bump in the road I give myself time to gather myself back together & then I get up & think, "What can I take from this? What lessons can I learn from this?" I will admit that sometimes I would wallow in self-pity. When I felt myself doing that I would go visit my Mom & tell her, "I'm stuck & need help." Her reply was always, "Why are you coming to me? You know what you need to do, so stop wasting time." That's all it would take for me to go forward, her saying, "You know what you need to do." I would always say, "Thanks, Mom" & smile. She would say, "But I didn't do anything." And I would reply, "Oh yes you did. You reminded me that anything that comes before me, I can deal with, so thanks." Perception, it makes a world of difference.

My BMF & I graduated from HS the same year. Our HS were no more than 15 miles apart in location. Imagine my surprise when I found out he couldn't spell the word 'one'. Mind you, my friend is brilliant. He went to a technical school for career training, & by the time we were 24 he ranked the #1 technician in his company, & was making more money than both of my Parents put together. And, he couldn't spell the word 'one'. I wrote down all the numbers from 1- one to 1,000- one thousand, & then I wrote one hundred thousand, one million, one billion, & one trillion. I gave him the paper & said, "There is no reason in the world why a person as smart as you, can't spell the word 'one'." He just smiled.

Not only is it worth listening to, the value that comes with listening, also confirms that said content will serve those that were privy to experience his value........longterm. Most don't even understand that even though their parents or whatever guardian will fail them, life has already place and positioned the right person/s to serve them in ways that they may or may not readily understand. As the gift of profoundly giving and gifting goes on and on and on and on and on and on! Most kids may not be aware or even conscious of the likes, but the reality of someone constructively playing a position is real. I like the fact that he understands that losing in the way that he did (when concerning his job), came with *real purpose. Which is why, hearing things like no or coming across individuals that are unfair, oppressive and just a thorn, should really never break or depress you. As Life is pretty much showing and telling you an array of things..........if you choose to *listen.

My white father wasn't either. WW2 veteran, raised by poverty stricken WW1 Eastern European uneducated ignorant parents- I might have been the only one of my dad's kids to forgive him long before he asked me at 93 before he died to forgive him. I'm sorry you don't have a father like this wonderful young father. Millions haven't, didn't. Try not to hate him, forgive him, ask God to help you, pray for your father that God will change him, heal him to be the father he should be, and ask God to place a Godly man as a big brother in your life to help you what you need, especially love and caring. @uscgmom9796 Ltd wasn't bad in my younger years. I just learned to deal with; giving my parents money, which they appreciated. But in my late middle-aged years, it's been a tough battle, as l wonder where my life is going. I realized that all people of *all* races have these issues. Being a man of faith and prayer, l've decided to make the most of my life as l see many my age and younger succumbing to disease. Like any human being, "l am sick for love" (Song of Solomon 5:8). I want to be accepted and loved. So l always strive to give love. That's the best thing in life.

@uscgmom9796 l know l replied to your text this morning, but somehow it didn't post. I always thought as a child that was the way it was supposed to be. As l got older, on on to my age now (64), l've seen better, and much better. My parents were not at all deadbeats. They provided for my present needs as a child, but neglected to prepare me for my future; aside from the fact that l never felt affirmed or loved. But my faith and prayers sustained me. I've face serious obstacles and nightmares but learned from them and persevered. Most of my adult life l gave my parents money, which they appreciated. But l think l did it more to "buy their love". A wise king once said, "I am sick for love". For "love is as strong as death". (Song of Solomon 5:8/ch. 8:6).
