This was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever watched because it’s so realistic. I’ve seen movies and tv shows with sexual abuse, but nothing comes to close to the raw honesty from this episode. Especially how he said he wished he’d left, stormed out and never came back, but he stayed for 2 more days. My heart just broke for Richard Gadd after this episode.
@laram702

I think the fact that it was based on his life makes it so raw and real :(

I think y’all may have missed that this is all five years earlier. Darrien did introduce him to hard drugs. I’m also afraid you missed the trigger warning at the start. When it hits that Richard Gadd was reenacting his own experience, it hurts on a deeper level. That man is brave as hell.

bryce was spot on in the outro discussion honestly. as a survivor myself, for *years* i would question myself, whether i wanted it, whether i brought it on, why i didn't handle it better, why i didn't try harder to stop it, questioned my sexuality, etc. and it got to me for so long, so yeah it's very common for victims to feel that way about their abuse unfortunately. anyways, i'm proud of you guys for getting through this episode, definitely the hardest one🫂

when I first watched this, I don't think I've watched something so saddening, raw, and real. Again, the creator had so much courage showing us this. This made me definitely understand why Donny was entertaining Martha because yes nice people can offer her a drink and move on or set the boundaries right away but people pleasers or egotistical people have this sense of what if i keep doing this? And maybe it’ll be fine. He’s so self aware about it but he’s STILL a victim and sometimes those things lead to very reckless decisions. I can’t be mad at him, I never will be

@@schuylermorgan9627 politely disagreeing with that one, zuff has several times been the first to pick up on implicit emotional aspects of a show and he’s just as empathetic and thoughtful as the other two. i think that especially comes across in romance reactions because he seems to connect with the story a lot. as for the laughing i think it’s often out of nervousness or excitement and it doesn’t always have to be seen as immaturity just because it’s laughter. i find him to be just as integral a part of the channel as the others :)

This and I May Destroy You have been two of the most triggering but healing shows I've watched that deal with this subject matter. Both Richard Gadd and Michaela Coel (who also based her show around her own experiences) were both so raw and vulnerable with their depictions. They're both incredibly brave to put this out for audiences to view and judge even. I couldn't praise them or even be able to express the kind of gratitude I felt for being able to watch them both and feel less shame or blame towards my own experiences. It's so real and relatable in so many ways. I'll only ever watch both of those shows once but the impact will last forever, I still remember all of it.

Richard Gadd hasn't said who he really is. I'm hoping his reasoning is because the guy is dead and coming forward about it now wouldn't make a difference. Because if he is indeed still out there, how many other lives has/will he ruin?

i jst want everyone to know, in such an extreme situation all the thoughts tht cross ur mind, the reasonings and all, ur mind is in a survival mode so for anyone whos gone thru something like this it was all valid, it didnt need to make sense , u r not at fault, u dont have to be a pretty pic of perfect victim to be accepted and understood and for other people we mst remember to allow them grace and acceptance.

This is the extent the sexual assault can affect a person , so many queer people who didn't even realised that they were queer all their life for various reasons when encounter such harsh conditions might think that such incident is the reason why they feel what they feel now but the truth is they could've find out in a much healthier way ,but these kind of assault take that power away from them .They remain questioning if the incident is their fault if the incident changed them , also it is a fact that despite all of the progress ,the world is still queer-phobic they still face discrimination (direct indirect consciously subconsciously ) which is why some people struggle to realise who they are and in these difficult situation when such thing happens to u the internal queer-phobia takes over their mind. And even when they ve felt that way all their life and they suppressed that, internal homophobia(caused by the world ) forces them to think that the assault is the reason why they are now queer when the reality is they've allways been .

Also I never saw him, but apparently in real life Richard Gadd was actually a good comedian and nothing like what he does in this show. Though he was maybe not everyone's cup of tea. He won the Edinburgh comedy award, a comedian's comedian award, and for his one man play won an Olivier. Plus a bunch of smaller awards. I see his comedy described as "daring and raw" a lot.

This is such a hard episode to watch. Especially as someone who has experienced SA. It's hard to believe Richard could get through it, but I think telling his story in this way is part of the healing process. He's very courageous to put himself in that headspace again to make this show. I couldn't do it. What happened to me happened over thirty years ago, but when it comes up in my mind, it could have been yesterday. I'm not sure it's something you ever get completely over, you just have to have ways of coping with it.

This episode was tough and way too close to home. I’ve been in the meth world for 3 yrs. Like Donny I’ve passed out on G. My “friend” let a stranger come in basically rape me while I was uncocious. I’ve been drugged dumped on a rural train station in the middle of the night by an ex bikie. That was the first time I thought I was gonna die. I literally had to call the police to rescue me because a guy wouldn’t let me leave his room cos I didn’t want sex. It was all during second lockdown 21 here in Sydney. I basically could write a book about my entire life during lockdown. I ended up hating men as well. Oh there also was the time I got chased out of a dudes apt with him flailing a knife cos I dare have sex with his bf during our 3way. Though I got red flags from this guy early in the evening when he convince me not to leave. And most of these guys weren’t even on meth. But us crack heads are the crazy 1s 😂 Basically I stopped hooking up with men. My life became boring. But drama free. I just puff alone.
