Yes, David Phelps is a professional singer and graduated at the top of his class from Baylor University with a major in opera. they wanted him to sing opera but he wanted to do gospel. he has been singing professional now for over 30 years. Most of his songs he incorporates his signature resonate high tones. David does not do any song halfway!! He is awesome… anything he sings!

David rarely uses his head voice. He's still in his chest voice when you were thinking he was switching so effortlessly back and forth. He belts and sustains in his chest voice. He's phenomenal. I've seen him hit an F5 like its nothing. The high note he sustained here was D5. He regularly hits C5 and he's mid 50's now. His voice gets better with age. He's classically trained and writes alot of his own songs and lyrics. He's known for rewriting old songs where you can still recognize them but puts his own little nuances to it. His fans say he "Phelpsed" it. We're a very devoted PHAN base. You'll find us showing up when you do a reaction to him. Thank you for appreciating our David Phelps.

However, instead of reacting to them separately, this time could you please combine the two performances together in one video and compare and contrast the different techniques used and styles of singing between these two singers explaining the similarities and differences in their singing styles and note choices. I think this should be really fun. Please try it out?

Just a suggestion...stop less and combine your all your great comments into less breaks so the video is not as broken up.

I commented on a video that was basically saying no one should even try to sing Whitney songs because no one can hold a candle to her. I commented that the closest I’ve heard is David Phelps with this song & posted the video. I was verbally ATTACKED by a black woman scolding me for saying anyone could hold a candle to Whitney and a WHITE MAN at that. I doubt she listened to his cover.
