I keep saying he’s another Andy Cole, need a load of shots to actually score and when he does it’s some team like Macedonia then he score 3 and then everyone says how great he is. To say it was HIS subs as though that was his tactical plan is completely disingenuous how they came about. He's won 1 game out of 5 in 90 mins as the supposed favourites with our bookies. There's only so much you can do by performing poorly and winning games before being found out. Fans, pundits, current and ex players, home and abroad have all pointed out the obvious tactical errors. And again, he only changed when his hand has been forced. The fact is we have been getting through on moments from individuals, not because of SG's set up, that is evidential. Being a defensive minded coach is fine, but experimenting in a tournament, being indecisive, being reactive not proactive, is the glaring deficiancies of his mamagement that is standing out. We have scraped through to another semi final from indivifual play yet again, despite of SG, not because of. The argument of SG takingvus to us to semis and a final os also disingenuous and lacks all context. We've seen better performing England teams before who weren't favourites, go out earlier playing better football - BUT against World Class oppostion in earlier rounds. SG has never faced a comparitive fixture in the early rounds, never. When we have met them down the line (and no where near as good as by the way like 98 Argies), we've lost.

@@SimonFlynn-un1ur it’s not about Southgate predicting that they were going to score, it’s the fact we weren’t playing well and we needed to change something. We hadn’t had a shot on target until Saka scored. I don’t think it’s wrong to expect him to make a change before 75 minutes when we haven’t shown anything close to a goal. But again, it’s because Southgate thinks we are playing well and so he keeps it the same and then reacts to the goal. That’s wrong and it’s delusional, and it’ll catch up to him like it always does.

Plus you have Kane Foden and Bellingham all dropping deep to get the ball and the only one running in behind is Saka. Southgate has the footballing iq of a frozen dinner.

@@rLxJake - Spot on, it's Bellingham or Foden, you can't play both. Southgate has always done this, overload the team with false 10s in the belief he's filling a midfield berth. In fact at one point I think he was playing Deli Ali plus two Deli Ali clones. Can't remember names, one of them was a Man U lad. May as well tie their laces together and throw a pantomime horse costume over them. Foden is worth a look for his club form but clearly he doesn't outshine Bellingham. I did think he (Foden) looked a little lost without his South American and Spanish club mates around him but on reflection it's Southgate's fault. The current players are good enough, they don't need their heads filling with Southgate's anxieties about tapping the brake pedal whenever an opposition player looks at them.
