Cant go wrong with PSA. I have a 7.5 300blk psa assembled upper on a spikes tactical snowflake lower, sig romeo5 red dot, sba3 brace, and streamlight hlx on a arisaka light mount
Who wants a rifle that has shit for accuracy and tosses slugs about as stable as from a slingshot? No thanks. Drop an Echo trigger group in a real rifle and then you have something.
Me: officer it's not a sbr, it's the reformation. Cops: ...Mr. Smith, at this time we're going to have to ask you to put your hands behind your back. Me: but, .....it's the reformation.
Uhh... Except local police enforcement local, state, & federal law. If you had a non-registered nfa rifle, you'd still get arrested. [Speaking as a former state cop]
Yeah, it won't be inconvenient at all, being arrested, having your "firearm" confiscated and sent to ATF/Tech for a ruling, hiring an attorney to avoid prison time... I'll stick with AR pistols.
If pistol braces weren’t a thing this might have caught on. But why trade accuracy and range for a stock over a “brace”, which doesn’t affect either of those things.
I think their terminal ballistics argument is interesting, those rounds do put a lot of damage out when they hit stuff because they immediately tumble.
@@breadman32398 Sometimes they are tumbling before they hit something...that's everyone's point, I think. Poor accuracy up to 50 yards. Very poor accuracy past 200 yards.
@@breadman32398 If a shooter has poor accuracy at 50 yards with a PCC, then yes, they will have very poor accuracy at longer distances. It's all in the shooter. Practice practice practice.
It'd turn my off from everything except I thought it might be a decent home defense option. Low penetration due to the tumbling and no extra paperwork involved.
100 yards is being extremely generous. I'd say its significantly reduced in effectiveness and accuracy past 25 yards. If it was already tumbling this much at 20 feet (about 7 yards) I can't imagine where it would be a bit further out. This is a neat, but overall useless gimmick.
Yeah, hard pass. A malfunction should not be a feature. Get a pistol brace, whatever. If you need a stock and short barrel send in the scary paperwork asking for permission to make it.
Actually it can ......just do your own reloading with a different ore 😕 Superman is also known as the man of......and presto you have penitrition even better than what's on Walmart's shelf .....just saying , screw the infringement their pushing 😎.
@@InYeshuasHolyName True, but why bother? For the same money I built a 7.5" "pistol" with ALL the bells. For $1300 I have an ar that I can fit in an 8"×8"×5" bag, why spend that much for one I have to make special ammo to get normal performance out of? If I want a pointless bullet hose, I got a tec 9 for that. (It was $100 with 5 32rd mags...dont judge)
MAC had this at the range on a video awhile back. Tim was hitting steel and putting a decent grouping at 100 yards. A FMJ 5.56x45 keyholing will cause massive damage and won't over penetrate. As a PDW this thing has more merit than people are going to give it credit for. It's like a 5.56 AR15 with a 7.5" or 10.5" barrel. People say its pointless because you dont have the velocity of a 16" barrel. Yes you lose velocity and kinetic energy with the short barrels. But even with 7.5" using 62 grain bullets you get the stopping power at 100yards of what a .357 mag? If you ever have to use your gun in defense it will probably be 5ft but definitely not over 100 yards. Am I buying one? No, but o see the value. Most people think in SHTF they are going to be making 500 yard head shots with their 18" AR15. Your not. Besides if they are 500 yards away just let them pass or wait until they get closer. Just some something to think about.
This a basically a shotgun that shoots 223 "slugs". Edit: they should make bullets similar to badminton shuttlecocks or skirted pellets to deal with thumbling
Hmmm, was just reading some of the comments. Lots of negative slamming the weapon. I wonder how many just posted their comments and then entered the contest anyway? If it's so bad, you probably wouldn't want it, so improve the odds for everyone else and don't enter. I'd love to have it myself, and I'd use it on a regular basis at the range.
I had a Henry 22WMG that was keyholing. I looked down the barrel and had two lines that ran straight down both sides of the barrel. I sent it back, got a rifled barrel and now I love the rifle. The thing is when the bullets hit something, they become unpredictable. Changing direction drastically.
You guys are missing the point. Tumbling bullets that shoot straight at close (home defense under 20 yards) range means a nasty wound channel in a home invader without over penetrating. Sounds like a legit home defense option. Swap out the upper with your full length upper and do whatever you want. No trouble with the law for those of us who live behind enemy lines!
I appreciate what Franklin Armory has done with this gun but as alot of people have already said, I will just stick with my AR pistol and have the accuracy. But I did just purchase Franklin Armory's Binary trigger and installed it on my Colt AR rifle, haven't gotten to try it out yet but I'm really looking forward to seeing what it will do. May have to get one for my AR pistol as well if I like it in my rifle.🤙
I’m still confused on why people are so intent on paying a tax stamp and registering an sbr. It’s none of the governments business what you have. That’s why it’s a right to keep and bare arms doesn’t matter what configuration that comes in.
Because bureaucracy is a bi.tch, and the _AFT_ (in Bidens words) might shoot your dog if you break one _their_ "rules" . It's unconstitutional but nobody wants to risk going to prison over a technicality. And yes I agree that _Freemen don't ask permission_ but those that say that, sometimes don't get to keep that freedom bc of aforementioned -laws- infringements. I guess we should move to the countryside and start a homestead with my own range? If only my funds allowed such freedoms 😔
What's the point of even having those straight lands and grooves? They obviously don't stabilize the bullet. Just make it with a smooth bore. Maybe then it would be classified as a musket?
This is a great home defense option, imo. Is accurate to at least 100 yards, and even though there is the tumbling, there's no over penetration, it's still dangerous in close proximity. Not as dangerous as rifled barrel. Which is cool
But it's not accurate to 100 yards. It's not even that accurate at 7 yards. That group is at least 4 inches at 7 yards. At 100 yards, you might accidentally hit a low-flying airplane. Or someone's house. Or a random passerby 100 feet to the left or right of whatever you're aiming at.
A rifle without rifling? Why not make it a 45 acp or that judge pistol ammo when 3 45 caliber balls shoot out? Why spend money on rifle ammo to have it tumble? C’mon man. If we’re going to a modern day musket, let’s use big ass pellets. 3 forty five caliber balls at 9-15 yards ( hall ways in a house) will do fine. Wait, how about a 12 gauge shotgun. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
One of the dumbest firearms ever conceived. I don’t see how franklin armory has sold one of these. Someone definitely has too much money. I feel the same about an actual sbr now days with the emergence of new pistol braces there’s no reason not to go with a pistol. Hell even the new kak shockwave is adjustable and it’s 60$ and the newer sb adjustable braces are simply awesome at 119$ and 209$. Even at 209$ that beats paying 200$ and having to register your gun and not be able to carry state to state. If the vertical grip is that important build it 26 inches or longer and put one on. Don’t take my word on that though read the law it’s in there.
Could someone show that company an old weapon with an oval twisted bore barrel please ? That is what is on the fastest single barrel machine rifle in the world, the .22 long rifle with the 840 round top magazine. I just can't remember the name, from the UK. An oval bore can be very accurate.
Townsend Whelen- "Only accurate rifles are interesting." Clint- "pffft, what TF do you know. This is very interesting, and I can shoot just over 32 MOA at 10 yards. Gun poser ass bitch" TW- "....."
Soooo I wonder if my M16 that has had 20k+ rounds through it and has zero remnants of any rifling left - could that fall into this category hmmmm , repurposed machine gun barrels? I have a few around for flamethrower contests but now I'm thinking home defense. Oh wait I have a registered receiver. Hey Folks ! this just in I have "firearm" "barrels" for sale at $900.00 way cheaper than Franklin you save 400.00 and guaranteed to key hole at 30 ft , their going fast get yours today.
Supposedly Franklin has or is developing drag stabilized ammo for this thing that makes it useable but not great at 100 yards. I'm sure it's expensive, just like the gun. I'll stick to my 7.5 inch pistol with brace. It's the same size as this "firearm" but has useable accuracy at 100 yards with cheap garbage ammo.
Franklin... you’re not you when your hungry. 😂 Binary trigger = Big money maker and a great idea Reformation “pistol/rifle” = BIG waste of time, money, and energy. You will probably sell what remaining reformation firearms you have made to Franklin fanboys, but the average shooter knows shit when they see it and this is not in the interest of anyone, civilian, private, or military.
its a carbine with a maximum effective range under 50m... no thanks lol for $1,300 i can get a good AR15 and SBR it and still have money left over for ammo. or i just just buy a pistol braced AR pistol.
Sorry man, but you didn't answer any of the important questions. Questions like what's the purpose, who would use it, under what conditions is this firearm to be selected? And you totally just glossed over the fact that accuracy is zero. So..... Franklin Armory add? Probably, since that firearm is useless as an actual firearm. Sorry, thumbs down.
That's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure that I'd have a need for it. I guess the tumbling bullets would have good stopping power at short range, but with that good stopping power, I wouldn't need to fill the air with that many bullets. I guess that would also prevent overpenetration.
I see this as really stupid. 20' & the bullets are already slapping the paper sideways. Why even put sights on it? Why even shoulder the damn thing? Now here's the best thing about it..... Exactly how many cops are going to understand the difference between straight lands & rifling by definition of law? Do you really think that they're just going to give it back on the spot & let you go? More than likely they're going to play it safe & take you & the rifle in & let the judge work that out
Don't get your hopes up, articles say that the ATF has reclassified it as an SBS and is working on new paperwork to process this specific type of "sbs" and as of right now have haulted all sales.
i wonder how long those guns will sit in storage? this is a bad product to stock imo. nobody wants to buy a $1,300 AR with a max range of 50 ft when they can just spend $1,300 on a pistol AR and be able to accurately hit out to several hundred meters. i may be wrong though, i mean there was a ton of hype about the gun so clearly some fools will be parted from their money.
I’d much rather throw a binary trigger into an AR Pistol with a brace and have an actually useful weapon over something that keyholes every shot even at 20 feet... that’s just dumb... better yet, lay onto all of our representatives and senators and get the highly unconstitutional NFA repealed.
Yeah 20 ft. and keyholes. At 75 ft. bullets spiraling all different directions hitting anything but the target, What great waste of ammo, at least you won't have to change the paper target much. Spray and Pray it doesn't hit an unintended target.
does having a vertical grip make a rifle/pistol any better to shoot? this just seems like a huge waste of money to me over a regular ar pistol when the sb tactical sba3 brace is so good. and plus you can put a vertical grip on a pistol if the overall length from muzzle threads to buffer tube is 26" which i believe can be done with a 12-13" barrel. sure it wont have a 7.5" barrel but it will shoot a lot better
Is that the key holeing gun? I think it'd be a neat home defense option due to not having to file paperwork and it probably penetrates less that a rifle.
Have they not learned from the Bump Stock crap. Loop holes get closed, and we loose even more because of it. Bump stocks were for people to lazy to develop the skill to shoot fast. This thing is crap.....
Worthless as a weapon if it's key-holing at 20'. Better to just get a pistol w/SB brace although the binary trigger is nice but 1st mass shooting with one it will be history like the bump stock.
Dude! If your firearm, built from a stripped lower has an overall length of 26” or more....it does not qualify as an AOW. So throw a vertical grip on there all you want.
To me, it would be nice to overturn the dumb crap that has been deemed NFA regulated. This firearm is too sketchy and will most likely cause you to enter into a legal battle over keeping your rights. Im not willing to take that chance. The future of this firearm looks dim to me.
Freaking awesome pie....I want one for my birthday next week! Well it's not next week 😔, but that's when I want one 😉 so I'm going to make it my birthday next week 💣💥I love all firearm's #gunjunkey
Well that doesnt make sense if that is all the loophole is then why not just make normal barrels for the ar type rifles and pistols that have the straight lines and grooves and just sell those..that alone would make vank why a whole nother gun...that seems like a waste of time? Of is that firearm one solid piece or something?
Very bad choice if you purchase this because the bullet will not twist when it's out of the barrel which means it'll be useless within 25 feet. Tumble in with 55 grain brass is worse than missing the target.
It's cool but you cant reach out to a hundred yards and hit something so why bother, you can buy all those components as long as you dont assemble them ( as it would be a crime to do so.) (Not that the atf needs to know)
