For the insert song theme it might not seem like the best choice if you do not know what the lyrics mean. I was looking on Japanese Twitter and people loved that scene and thought it was the best part of the episode. I got to listen to the English version of this song because they said that it makes you really well with what was going on.
“Mappa animators making Anime Of the Year episodes back to back and burning out? I don’t want that! I want them to take a break and only come back when they feel like it. For 1 month at least”
I'll be fine not getting the rest of the season if it means Mappa will suffer the consequences of their actions. Overworking your employees to near death needs to have consequences.
sukuna doesn't kill mahoraga with cleave and dismantle, the fire is from his unknown arrow technique he used on jogo, since mahoraga had adapted to slicing already. he one shot it with the arrow which it had not adapted to or seen yet.
Sukuna is what every “boy possessed by evil spirit” anime was afraid to do. There’s no taming Sukuna. There’s no controlling him through empathy. He can nuke a heavily populated city with absolutely no second thought and Yuji has zero control of it. There’s no reasoning with him because unlike a tailed beast or a demon from other shows, empathy is just not a thing Sukuna has ever had. He’s 100% irredeemable and he’s proud of it. What an absolutely brutal episode. So glad the writer wasn’t afraid to go 100% bleak. I’m honestly questioning if very many people are going to escape this rescue operation alive. Poor Yuji.
Strongly disagree on the OP playing over the ruins of Shibuya. the lyrics match the fucked-upness of the situation while also showing Sukuna's, JJK's, and Gege's complete disrespect for Itadori's sanity and everything else, really. playing the OP while Itadori has a mental breakdown in the background has really good "Go Fuck yourself" Energy. As a side note, the animators deserve more.
I was surprised people disliked the opening playing. I thought it fit really well. The way it was juxtaposed with Itadori’s breakdown was really fitting. Guess it’s just a personal taste thing
kinda sad where ppl just listen to OPs melody and not understand wat lyric actually means which is why they think the song doesnt match with the itadoris mental breakdown scene.
@@emmarod8746 Not really, because he doesn't influence Megumi's actions like he does Yuji. Yuji's ideals are to save everyone, indiscriminately. Sukuna used Yuji's body for indiscriminate slaughter.
I know a lot of people aren't fans of Specialz playing at the end of the epsilon, but I absolutely loved it. The lyrics sound like they were written through the perspective of Sukuna, mocking Yuji. Honestly the lyrics match with he destruction shown of Shibuya, especially lyrics like "Along the Tokyo frontlines, it's only chaos Media rushes among the sea of corpses and blood Calmness or detachment are both forbidden"
It showed that the world, the cruel world doesn't give a fuck but your feelings, if itadori feel bad and even if the anime watchers feel bad, jjk universe, it don't care about it
yeah this for me at least is the best jjk ep of the series so far crazy to think even though the episode wasn't polished all the way they what the haku go squad can really do even under a bad schedule
They did an amazing insane job animate this episode but you can clearly see they don't have enough time to animate It didn't feel rush or anything but you can tell if they have been given more time they could make a masterpiece I feel bad for the staff so much Despite their working condition they still push through, with little time they could came up with this, I mean ... props to them MAPPA plz stop being greedy don't rush and overwork your employee
It showed that the world, the cruel world doesn't give a fuck but your feelings, if itadori feel bad and even if the anime watchers feel bad, jjk universe, it don't care about it
Just everything, the story, fights, animation, music, characters, scenes and almost every fucking episode.. Just wow man, its unbelievable how good it is! Its already Nr. 2 in my ALL TIME favs.
Nah he was just tossed in the building across the 109 in Shibuya, which is the TOHO Cinema so I guess they just added that to kind of mention it without doing it
Idk if the translation is different elsewhere, but on Crunchyroll they called Sukuna's domain "Malevolent Kitchen" 💀and they called Mahoraga by the name "Makora" which is apparently his actual name according to Romanji.
You'd think that with the gap between the movie and season 2 that it was being produced during that time rather than all being rushed very last minute, Shibuya Incident's been nothing but INCREDIBLE but I genuinely wish every animator the well rounded vacations and breaks they deserve. They've already cooked enough fire meals this year, we can wait.
when sukuna uses his domain expansion which continuously attacks mahoraga as a guaranteed hit, as mahoraga tries to adapt to the domain attack, at the same time sukuna uses another attack that with enough enough intensity that can cause enough damage to kill him. basically attacking him before he can adapt to a previous ability
Shoutout the animators fs, can’t imagine what it’d look like if they had some patience and allowed them to cook in a healthy mindset. The turnaround these animators put out and are forced to comply with is nothing short of criminal.
This is all because the top of the top at Mappa (the ones that do absolutely nothing and just are in ceo and board positions) they take massive pay from animators and give themselves bonus’s that equal pay of a years worth of an animators salary
Did anyone else's subtitles describe Sukana's domain expansion as Malevolent Kitchen? And not shrine?. One of the two moves was called Fillet aswell haha. I was like wtf
The animation was good. I really wish people would stop saying "peak" though... This is why a lot of people think JJK is overhyped.. We can be honest when the animation is not the best. It doesn't mean we are disrespecting the animators or JJK. They did an amazing job and I am proud of each and every person who put time into this episode.. It just needed a lot more time.... A lot more.. But, as always, I am grateful to be here to see JJK getting a second season.
Bro your content is amazing! I know AoT was the end of an era, but I think this is just the beginning for you and your channel! Keep it up! Also, loved you shitting on Mappa! This shit needs to stop
This is more telling us what happened in the episode rather than analysis. Assuming your viewers have watched the episode coming into this video, lots of time is spent retelling what we’ve seen in the episode rather than giving new insights. Well done video regardless.
I thought it was the same as well…which I did not mind at all…but I guess they are going right up till the end of the incident. I also had no idea JJK 0 was on 4 month schedule. Thats crazy….I mean it was well done but….thats alot to cover in 4 months. I really hope they do better really soon.
I think I rewatched this episode around 3 times, there were a couple of people on reddit complaining that the animation frames were too rough and they were genuinely disappointed... but for me, my jaw was hanging on the floor for the entire 20min, and it makes me think that some of the fandom is either really toxic, or has some unheard of standards for animation xd. (I'm not a reader of the manga, maybe it's better like that I dunno.) Anyways for the time they had available, ez 10/10
strongly disagree that the animation was world class... Idk, i felt like it was a bit of an unpolished mess. I think we should definitely be grateful it's not even worst than how it turned out given the circumstance, but I feel like we're just trying to be too polite by saying the animation was world class. I really had no idea what was going on most of the fight, all I knew was that sukuna was whooping ass. At one point mahoraga was bigger than a train, and I have no idea if the skikigami has resizing ability or if it was just bad animation or what. Sukuna's abilities were a bit of a mess too animation wise. I felt like most of the episode wasn't really fighting either, just lines showing up randomly, with objects and the two combattants flying around. Am I crazy/alone here, or did anybody else feel like the episode was kinda disappointing? Definitely not knocking the animators though, this is a failure in leadership as they wanted to delay production to get things right. I just wish this episode didn't come out so that if they did get more time we can see how this episode was intended.
Yeah I really don’t understand everyone’s hype, some scenes look like middle school notebook monster sketches with no depth or detail. You can tell they were just trying to hit the deadline with the minimum amount of animation needed. Sad, but not the animators fault.
Though it is wrong these CEOs dont care about the anime. They care about money. Fans can't seem to understand that they only care about algorithms and logistics. If they could they would scrap the whole team and reset tk get things done when they wanted. They arent sentimental because this isn't their art. Their art is building companies that generate money and keep building.
10:30 true... The thing with any character that's a true warrior is that it doesn't matter wether they're perceived good or bad. It's thier strength that generates respect overall.
You can see the drop off in animation in this episode. They have done such a good job so far making the fights large scale without being overwhelming. This was overwhelming. It was spam of colors and stills and It just didnt hit for me.
Great and smooth animation???? WTF NO! I can clearly see that low frame rate and theese rough lines on the characters. The episode is VERY raw and needs much more time in the oven. I just wanna to Mappa to understand that humans arent machines. Animators have to get to vacation and they need a lot more time to animate theese episodes. JJK is supposed to be one of the greatest anime but with mappa's managment I'm afraid thats not going to happen.
It’s bonkers to me that megumi would summon such a powerful being to fight such a weak character, Only reason it worked out was because sukuna swooped in
The last 3 episodes have seen a dramatic decline in quality. Since Megumi vs Toji you can see the wear that the release schedule has taken on MAPPA animators. Compared to the animation quality of Toji vs Gojo or Choso vs Yuji its noticeable. Still a great job but hopefully MAPPA can work out an agreement before they get to Hinami vs Yuji or the Culling Games.
My thought on the whole popcorn suspended in air scene was basically mahoraga grabing sukuna so fast and smashing him against the building that we the viewer couldnt see it cuz it was so fast. Then the popcorn flows with the wind created by mahoraga which was delayed because of how fast he swooped in. My thoughts, i could be wrong. Edit:grammer
I'm disagree. The animation was smooth, but looking at the drawing, I can't help but thinking that they actually didn't have enough time to fully finished the ep.
Can we ask why the translations are so bad. “Makora” is definitely “Mahoraga”. I think the kitchen aspects of the translation are supposed to play into the theme that sukuna is either a food critic or a chef himself. I’ve always had this theory but now I think it makes more sense. Sukuna is a master Chef in the art of jujutsu. Cleave and dismantle represent how he cuts and dissects a technique. I think the brain thing said something about how “a cursed technique is a person world view”. Maybe this means the way you see yourself in the world is directly related to your technique itself. Sukuna sees himself as a master of jujutsu like a chef.
@@Dianxiashualian kitchen is a very literal translation, shrine is also correct, just that since sukuna summons a shrine and not a kitchen the proper translation would be shrine. Kinda cool how a language can be so loose and provide foreshadowing
Nah bro the animation on episode 17 can’t compare to the one from last episode you can take frame by frame that they were really running out of time half of the time you couldn’t even tell what was going on the Jogo vs Sukuna had much better flow
If i won the lottery id donate/gift the animators to the point where they can hire MAPPAs owners children & work em til theyre ass gets as flat as Sukunas Malevolent Shrine aftermath on this ep
If this is the last episode of jujutsu Kaiden we get because of the animators quitting and the awful production schedule, im happy we got such an amazing episode. Thank you animators for animating a masterpiece even if you were dying on your desks. Screw Mappa top brass
Seriously they ruined from the entry of sukuna to the end of three episodes of Shibuya.... It's totally unexpected from a company like mappa like they were only busy in attack of Titan... But they ruined the class and that imagination iam not saying everything was the bad choreography of fight sequence were awesome... And also story were something were different from manga but those were awesome like the fight of toji and Megumi... But seriously why don't we make a pension to make those three episodes from sukuna entry to ending of this arc.... They Ruined Sukuna
look i cant wait for 2 - 3 YEARS of my life for the jkk 0 movie and 4 months is acceptable only if there was a new employe staff for that movie and tbh why the cant make a rotation of employes edit btw the animation for the new ep looks nice only if it was from the start and more effort into it or is was fan made
That doesn’t make sense when JJK is one of their top properties they’re working on. What it is is bad management from Mappa, and the animators and everyone else actually working on the show are paying the price for that
i mean attack on titan looked amazing but comparing the animation and overall finish of the animation to jjk, theres a huge difference and i find it so hard to tell whats going on in jjk even though ive read the manga
I assumed it was bc of the j the sheer amount of effort they needed to put into the actual fight scenes to properly display the mass destruction that occurred during the battles
I think the anime needs to go on break. The animators are wayyyyy overworked and you can see it in the last few episodes lackluster animation. This fight looked alright when it could have easily been top tier. The end of the fight looked like shit and it was just a huge blast of color the whole time. The domain expansion looked like shit as well. I hope the animators get a well deserved and long break
