Blacks are oppressed in this country by other blacks. Self loathing liberal whites are leading blacks down a dangerous path. This clown Karen thinks all blacks owe her something. Soft bigotry of low expectations is her MO. There’s no system of anti blackness. Black supremacy is on the rise it’s not about equality it’s about domination.

Growing up as a white girl in South Minneapolis all I knew was we were poor. Most of my friends were black and brown. I learned Spanish, learned to braid, was fed in many different homes. We had fun and we were all the same to each other. One day at the wading pool we were pretending to drown each other. Lol. A boy grabbed my head pushed it under and I felt him being snatched out of the water, a mom there was screaming at him “do you want to go to JDC for drowning a white girl!!” He didn’t even look at me and to me it felt like rejection, everyone else kept playing but not with me. We still played after that but I did start seeing color in situations...not good or bad just an awareness. Man, I wish I had that innocence back and could give it back to Pierre (the pretend drowner) I wish I knew the answers to end racism or to even understand how it feels but I feel sorry for the people who didn’t get to grow up with a rainbow of experiences. Exposure to differences is the best part of life. We are an intelligent species as humans, full of curiosity and complex emotions, but also with fragility of mind. It sucks that South Mpls. looks scarred but it’s a reminder of what happened there and I have to be proud that people fought back for George Floyd.

@unitedempowermentteamllc6189

One May want to study the sociological truth in such a statement. Cordiality and understanding is not the same as a sociopolitical sisterhood. This is a true or false statement depending on what one defines as a sister/brotherhood under a supreme-ist social construct. The construct must change to make it possible. We all are shaped by the social engineering that few create. That’s why some say, even today, that there’s no racism. I’ve sat with bosses of educators who spew, and operantly condition with, such falsities. Of course they are on the receiving end of constructed social inequities and pervade them willingly, and hopefully unwillingly, to my knowledge. Btw, I have been the first black educator in a region of southeast AZ and was treated better than when I taught in a community in northern AZ where there are more of us blacks and where the highest percentage of Navajo graduates are. Lots of non-racist, racists and supreme-ists around here. The stakes are quite high and the people of earth still suffer from lack of knowledge and understanding.

Isn't it interesting that the white male caller who taught at a predominant black school, had to support his opinion of there not being racism at his school by sharing he used to visit the black kids in the slums. Microaggressions, maybe he isn't aware of how that sounded, because I believe he was sincere. However, I would challenge him to have some honest conversations with past students, they may view it differently.

I've got your book. Thank you for further educating me and my fellow whites. I'm a sociologist who focused heavily on whiteness. But I don't know if education works as well as experience. I, as a white person, am just old enough to have seen the streams of blood running down brown faces in 7th grade. The white boys would climb the trees and throw rock-hard coconuts at the heads of black children trying to cross an open area to get to and from the cafeteria. Terrible wounds, and the victims were crying as well as bleeding. Nothing was done to stop this. Nothing. I didn't have the language of "white privilege" but I knew I had it. I could go eat without fear. They could not. This was McNichol Jr High School in south Florida. Previously, at 10, I had a puppy crush on an Afro-Puerto Rican little boy. My very progressive parents said "if you marry him, your status will go from white to black. And being black is very, very hard. Your children will be black, and they will suffer from racism. They'll be bullied." Etc. And I'm thinking "I'm 10." I wasn't marrying anyone, but they were very afraid of the consequences of blackness in a racist society. They were telling me I'd lose my privilege, even though they didn't have that language yet. So, before my teens, I knew I was privileged. I'm also of Jewish heritage, but didn't experience anti-Semitism. Not yet, anyway. Not as a child. I must also say that there were many times when black kids were the only kids who were nice to me, especially one in 9th grade who wanted to protect me from very vicious bullying. He wanted to enlist his friends to jump them, to beat them up to stop it. "I'll take care of the little bastards for you." Amazing. I didn't actually know him, but everybody saw it happening, and he wanted to put himself on the line FOR ME. His name was either Erving or Irving. I stopped him. "You KNOW who's going to get in trouble. And it's not me." So, while he seemed disappointed, he didn't do anything at my request. He wanted to. My guess is he experienced terrible treatment from whites. And this was something he could DO about them, because he was protecting a white person. He assumed that would protect him. This was in Atlanta, GA, and I didn't think he *would* be protected by me being white. I thought it would be bad, very bad for him and his friends. But that was another foundational experience for me. I don't know if there's any substitute for experience. Most overtly bigoted and racist whites will not even read your book. I truly don't think so. 😢 It's very frustrating. As an adult, I would advise other white people to look, listen and learn, if they so desire - and that's a choice black people don't have, either. And stop saying "we all got along." From a white person, that means less than nothing. And I NEVER assume I fully "understand" because I don't. I never will. I don't know what it's like to not be white. I saw it, I heard it, I was made to understand it, all of that, but it didn't happen to me. Racism didn't happen to me. It was one thing that didn't happen to me. Thank you. All of you in this discussion in the video.

These people are trapped in an ideology. Stay a while and listen. =========================================================== After taking an art history class(bear with me) that really went into depth on racism, ideology, and critiquing how art solves a problem, from my perspective the present issues became a lot clearer. I will say first, I recognize there is racism in America, however I do not agree with the narrative posed by the media or BLM. I will generalize: African Americans, especially BLM, are unknowingly perpetuating the ideology of racism regardless of intent. Intent does not matter, context does. To elaborate, during the revolutionary era, people who favored slavery rationalized the supposed racial incapacity of African Americans as the explanation for enslavement. Today and during the past few years, African Americans have rationalized the cause of their current status and circumstances to present day systemic racism. Their present status is a result of past racism and slavery. An analogy, imagine they have been stuck in jail on the board game "Monopoly" for the first 10 turns while everyone else goes around collecting money and property. Remember, racism persisted legally for quite some time into the 20th century. Clearly they have been economically disadvantaged for a while. This is why there is significant wealth disparity. This is why the argument for reparations came up. Wealth disparity regardless of who it affects typically correlates to significant crimes rates, failing education, feelings of dis-empowerment, and other negative societal issues. It is often cyclical by nature if not fixed. And it was not fixed. This is why sometimes, the government has to step in to fix a problem to benefit the whole. I would have suggested rebuilding the infrastructure in the damaged community and assisting growth, though I am not a expert in solutions for society. The solution to their problem, that is, to explain why they are still in their disadvantaged situation was by rationalizing the cause to present day systemic racism. A rationalization in this context is an attempt to explain one's reality regardless if they understand it or not. This is the same mistake religions and flat-earthers make. This solution predominantly came into existence during the Obama era. (I have nothing ill willed to say against Obama, I think he was a respectable president. I can disagree on policies.) Several instances of african-americans murdered by police were highlighted on national media creating a perceived bias of increased racism in America. Yes, there were unarmed caucasian people murdered by police too, but irrational narrative was never attributed to them. Psychology has studies to show a perceived bias does develop from watching the media causing people to come to irrational conclusions. Quick example is the couple that ingested chloroquine after Trump discussed it on the news. The media bias led viewers to come to irrational beliefs of racism in America. This induced the formation of "Black Lives Matter", an organization and movement which will unknowingly perpetuate the ideology of racism. Black lives matters was quick to build a following because so many african-americans feel oppressed as I described before due to wealth inequality and the lasting effects of legalized racism for approximately 200 years. It was covered on the news and spread on social media. It very quickly amassed a large following and a national influence. Today, it has effectively reached a global audience. Little does it know, it is perpetuating racism. An ideology is perpetuated when it is communicated. Black lives matter, simply by its name is perpetuating racism. Their intent is not the same as their outcome. This is why context matters. In the present context of society, associating subject matter with "black" or "white" has connotations inherent to racism. By repeatedly speaking the phrase, "Black lives matter", racism continues to exist. I know this is a surface level issue, but it is problematic and deeply rooted in our language and ideology. Furthermore, the belief of the movement itself, is perpetuating racism. For african-americans, they develop a disheartening and irrational outlook about their lives and a perception they are victims in society. They think their society is villainous and subversive to their cause. Some have become fearful or avoidant of "white" people. Children grow up hearing BLM chants from family members, friends, the television, their instagram and snapchat. They are indoctrinated quickly. Those who follow the movement believe there is a systemic problem in America regardless of statistics, data, evidence, and consideration that can explain the problems. BLM is perpetuating racism and escaping an ideology is difficult. We now have a very large amount of the population under these irrational beliefs. Considering what I have said, there are so many others that believe a contradicting view. Am I delusional or just grossly uninformed? Remember, the world is mostly logically illiterate. More than half of the world's population follows a religion in order to rationalize their misunderstood existence and reality. People were murdered for an ideology surrounding witchcraft in order to rationalize their misunderstandings of reality. Many people were enslaved and murdered in the ideology of racism in order to rationalize their perception that a classified group of people were inferior. Would it be so inconceivable that another ideology could come into existence to rationalize another misunderstanding? Is the present day accusation of systemic racism accurate? Or is it now a product of another ideology, one of *phantom racism* in America? Think critically about this: Babies and children are not inherently racist. Racism is learned. What happens when african-american children hear on the radio, TV, snapchat, from their family, from friends, the chant "BLACK LIVES MATTER!" ? What do they conclude after hearing it? After asking, "Mommy what does that mean?" How does this affect their mindset and behaviors? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I do not think the prevalent racist narrative portrayed by the media and movements like BLM is legitimate. Yes, there are racists out there, but not as perceived that national alarm is merited. And to put it bluntly, America is not filled with critical thinkers, but spoon fed babies who are fickle and hop from each trending phase in the media. In my own opinion(obviously), I believe the real problems are: 1. There are some corrupt cops out there. 2. Our law enforcement is not transparent enough. 3. Our law enforcement is not adequately trained to understand they serve the community and to behave with this in mind. 4. Our judicial system is stagnant and broken. 5. The war on drugs is problematic and not helping. 6. Our prisons are not rehabilitative and a waste of human life and resources. 7. Large corporations that utilize our infrastructure are evading our taxes. 8. Some populated areas in America have poor infrastructure. Here is some literature I built this comment from; they should be read with a critical perspective: Barbara Jeanne Fields: Slavery, Race and Ideology in the United States of America This is important for understanding racism and ideology. drive.google.com/file/d/1z8_JT2MDzLdb9fEy8sw0UveHoyQ_ync1/view?usp=sharing Michael Baxandall: Patterns of Intention 2. The Forth Bridge This is useful for understanding how something operates as a solution to a problem in a situation. drive.google.com/file/d/1gmdaiiCuIUM88vQ9AihheJmh9BGcbLoA/view?usp=sharing I am completely open to discussion. I am open minded. And I know I am not educated on this topic.

5:35 YES! It's taken me years to understand as much as I do, and I still don't have it all pegged. It's ok to admit you don't understand. It's not ok to actively refuse to understand. Have those conversations. It's not a competition, it's a learning experience. It's for the greater good, the big picture. Something bigger than ourselves as a whole.

Well put. I agree. I’m so tired of the hatred and the willfully ignorant people in this world, it’s painful to watch da in and day out. When will people wake up? When will they try and be decent to others? It’s so heartbreaking! Wtf is it going to take? Why do these hateful people not see? ENOUGH!

I think it is important to recognize people have different skin colors, but to not stereotype their personalities by their color. Some people though find it offensive to be classified by color as a group. For example, some people do not like being referred to as 'a brown person' but would rather be identified by their nationality. When they are referred to by color, their individuality gets overlooked and are not perceived as a person.

After 400 years of cohabitating, a Close Bond just will not form between the 48 million Black Americans (BA) and the 240 million European Immigrants (EI) and American Descendant Of European Immigrants (ADOEI) that are divided into approximate 33% or 80 million democrat, 33% or 80 million republican and 33% or 80 million independent voters. BA can and do work with the 66% or 160 million Democrat and Independent EI/ADOEI, however we can not and do not work with the 33% or 80 million Republican EI/ADOEI in the country. The Republican EI/ADOEI made peace with Japan after Pearl Harbor, England after the Revolutionary War and the Republican Party after the Civil War that ended slavery, however the Republican EI/ADOEI insist on maintaining a Cold War with BA .

I think the GOP cannot and will not work with Black Americans for fear of losing their strong hold states and voter base that's deeply uneducated and easily fooled by the "other". If they concede to black america. Than there will be a division in the country. I doubt any of them will vote for Blue Democrats, so Republicans will just lose power. It's all about making sure they have power to appoint their judges and governors and local attorneys etc. Getting things from Democrats is possible but you have to have a powerful political Union in Washington with the backing of the Trillion dollar buying power of Black america. Even if we dont all agree, we can agree brutality is a problem, incarceration, lengthy sentences, redlining, state contracts bias, 13th amendment, lack of political seats, and seeking a position in the bedrock of community - hospital, subsidized charter schools with our curriculum, grocery stores ,farming and food&water supply control, buisness Grant's, mental and rehabilitation programs specific to black Americas needs etc. I belive that is what is needed.

I have to challenge her credentials. I don't think she grew up around black people or even associated with black people till later in life. I think she did something extremely racist when she was younger, and the guilt she has has projected into it being "Not her Fault, I'm just reflection of white society". Being unable to deal with her own past racist behavior, she projects it something every white person does. Does Anyone know her from her Middle School and High School days, precollege? There seems to be a flaw in her reasoning and world view distorted by her own past behavior she cannot accept as a individual, so she blames all white people for what she did. She gets attention and $$ from White Liberals who have limited experiences with black people in youth, adolescence, (under 20) and never went to majority minority school, or even a school with a large black attendance. Can anyone vouch for her credibility past? There seems to be a big gap in her history that she is ashamed of and wants redemption by projecting blame. Any thoughts?

Thank you for this wonderful dialogue. As a white male I would like to think I have the strength of character as well as the courage to be a true ally to people of color no matter what the cost. That is what I feel in my heart. To see this chance for real change happening now after so many years of the same old oppression coupled with the same old deafness by almost all white people is really very moving and up-lifting. But much struggle remains and like after the Obama years, there's going to be "white-lash." Let's be ready.

Great conversation thank you for having it. I think that we really have to change this language of black and white for starters. Its important to stop using this language to identify others or ourselves. What we speak we create more of. We are not black or white we are human our colors have nothing to do with anything. This lie of colorism is abuse. I am choosing to be honest with myself and others.Call me by name that's it and if that's a problem for anyone. I am prepared to walk away. I have 0 tolerance policy for abuse of any form and if this means walking alone. Then so be it. I have plenty of love in myself and nature. To those who choose to rise to challenge of creating this change my arms and heart are open wide.

I personally have never met a "white" person, or "black" person for that matter. I'm caucasion, but know people from african decent that are a lighter shade of color than me so I'm not sure who your message is aimed at. All people are people of color. Some people are lighter/darker than others. The reason racism still exists today is because people keep trying to classify themselves as a group (black, white, aisian, etc...). You're people, that's it! Stop classifying people.

I really don't know how relevant my opinion is but here goes. I'm Irish and I'm white. Ireland isn't a historically diverse place and growing up I would look at places like London or America and think " wow it must be awesome to be surrounded by different cultures and everything that comes with it " Then I started watching pbs history from Emmett Till up to the first elected black mayor. I thought nope nope nope those white people are getting too much sun or something they are scary. I live miles away and you need to read to have basic human empathy with your neighbours? And maybe it's because I love art I hated the " i don't see colour " and the notion that the ideal was a universal shade of beige I find horrific. I think it's white entitlement. That's why we're all karens. America's still the last place on earth I'd visit. Sorry.

@arronnov my challenge to you is to watch James Baldwin’s speech of 1979. Ignorance is not bliss. Bottom line is we are all one race. The human race, we have our weaknesses and strengths; pilgrims on earth and if we don’t get our act together it won’t matter because we will all disappear like the Mayans and others did before us.
