You pretty much nailed the meaning of the song. Paulina said: “Choke is about being so overwhelmed by your feelings that you start to drown on them and choke on them and we really wanted the song to reflect that hopelessness you sometimes feel and just offer it to everyone as a safe place to feel those feelings and just like a place of comfort for them.”

We appreciate reactors who don't breakdown every word of every line of every verse while the video is playing. We all have our own thoughts on the lyrics. Most of us are in sync with TW, and their portrayal of the lyrics. The girl in the water at 3:26, when her eyes open, it is like she has dealt with what ever she is conflicted by, accepts it, and instead of fighting and struggling, she allows herself to sink. Having embraced it, she gracefully begins swimming.

Magnificent! First word in my head when I saw this video. Felt like a deer caught in the headlights as Dany’s fearsome gaze throughout the video looked into my soul! Dany’s vocal superpowers in full display. I learned later that Ale was in some pain making this video as she was recovering from dental surgery. But she was still able to manage the famous ‘Ale smirk’. While Ale is grace personified, Pau is just power unleashed!

This was my first exposure to the "grown up" The Warning and I was literally speechless. THIS?? This is what those little metal chicas became? OMFG!!! It's been a joyous journey of (re)discovery since then. Edit to add: Yes, the trademark smirk makes its appearance!

Thanks, A-Aron. You nailed the lyrics. They've described them in nearly the exact way you did, also pointing out that it's normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes by everything going on, and we can rise above it. Many of their songs initially sound dark but are ultimately empowering, urging us to rise above our circumstances. I swear you will never be disappointed by a single song. 'Think for yourself' is an overriding theme in many of their songs. You are going to enjoy this journey.

Good choice. The music video is gorgeous, and they put a lot of time, money, and effort into making it. With a music video the lyrics are more distinct than a live performance.

Thanks. I know a lot of fans are always live, live, live. And to some extent, I agree...hard to compete with the raw ENERGY from a live performance. But to understand the true ESSENCE of a song, I feel like the music video is the best place to start. Watch the Dimash music video I just reacted to tonight (warning - it's literally the best music video I've ever seen). A lot of fans said, you should have watched the live version. ..I will but there is NO WAY it would have she the same interpretation and understanding as the work that went into that video. They each are important.

The music vid is awesome, but this band does not need pretty stuff to slay you. Real well recorded live performances will blow you away even more... Having said that Que mas Quieros video is fun.

Drummer Pau: Choke is about being so overwhelmed by your feelings that you start to drown on them and choke on them, and we really wanted the song to reflect that hopelessness you sometimes feel and just offer it to everyone as a safe place to feel those feelings and just like a place of comfort for them. Guitarist Dany: We really wanted to embrace what the lyrics say with the music I think that's the challenge that we personally took to like even with the riff and everything show the tension of the struggle of that person, and we are very proud of the song, and we are so happy it's finally out.

Thanks for great analysis and insight! For the next one: music-videos are good, but The Warning is best experienced live - I highly recommend Teatro Metropolitan 2022, audio is perfect and all songs are great, a good start is “DISCIPLE”.

I'm an old man who has trouble understanding your words because of the echo in your room. At the risk of coming off as selfish, I wonder if you could talk more quietly but closer to your mic? Even if you can't talk closer to your mic, I notice a substantial reduction of echo when you talk more quietly. In any case, thank you so much for your thoughtful reactions! I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well Pau sings when she takes lead! Dust to Dust might be a good example, while Revenant (Teatro 2022) is my all time favorite. But I recommend my favorites less often these days, because IMO, it's still just as impactful when you listen to their masterpieces later than sooner. :)

If possible it is almost always better to hear a good live version of a The Warning song. All their performances from Teatro Metropolitan are all great for the Error album.
