I’ve used the Apex since it first came out. It’s a coin killer. It locks on like better than any of the 9 machines that I own. It’s a fantastic machine regardless of what all of the self proclaimed experts say.

Had the apex as my first detector, it did me an awful service for 9 months. Struggles with small silver in the ground. Then moved on to a Vanquish and that did an amazing job for me from day one. Now have a Legend for a year and I havent looked back.

The price on Minelab coils is insane. Being an engineer I know that a coil does not cost that much to manufacture.

Whites was the top company back 15 years ago. Their machines are built like tanks and didn’t break. I still use the MX7 and the MX Sport.

Big reason why it got mixed reviews when it first came out, many of the 2-3 year old reviews were before the software was updated and the bugs were worked out. Set the machine up correctly, use good searching technique, and get to know it well, and it will not disappoint. Great machine, I love it. So light weight and easy to swing, display and menus are very intuitive, and customer service from the company is great too. Many complained about not being waterproof, it will take some rain just fine, the coils can be submerged, and there is a well-designed cover if you prefer searching in the rain, most folks don’t buy this to do complete underwater detecting anyways.

My newly acquired APEX is a Coin-hunting Beast so far. The only issue I have with it is the Micro USB port for charging. I know that the constant use of that port will lead to connection failure down the road. I hope Garrett incorporates a better charging connector for its detectors in the future. I personally like the one used on the Minelabs.

Thank you for using an Apex, I got my first detector, Ace Apex, for Christmas and haven't had much opportunity to try it yet. The Apex by itself is $429, the bundles are different, i got the headset, carrot and Apex for $580

I have an ace apex now for year I love it so easy to learn and all the options it's a great machine to learn the hobby highly recommend it for anyone interested in the hobby

I’m hoping the new Garrett “Storm” is a series of setectors that covers the competition from models like the new MinelabX-Terra Elite & Nokta Triple Score, on up to the Minelab Manticore, XP Deus II, and Nokta Legend. I have paused my purchase decision until we see what this Storm series actually is… I hope the Hype of their ad lives up to reality in both performance and price...

Love the Apex ! I've found so much good stuff with mine ! Silver N gold jewelery, deep silver coins ! Takes some time to get used to it but run it in zero mode ,multi frequency it's a great machine!! I also have a Legend and a Equinox 700 and the Apex is my go too machine the others are my back ups...

My daughter has an Apex and she went with me while I was using my d2 she found a nickel and a copper penny in a hole that I have been over multiple times and she hit it with the Apex. I think metal detecting as a hobby is all about being in the right spot at the right time regardless of what metal detector you have. As a sidenote, I currently swing a Mantacore and she still uses the apex.

I have a Tesoro Vaquero for sale that I never use any more since I bought the Nokta Makro Anfibio. I bought the Anfibio because i thought it was a beach machine but its a beach machine like PI would be good in a trashy park, all but useless!

Nice to get a look at the APEX, never seen it before. What size is the viper coil just wondered. I like the way the screen looks and buttons. But I think your right metal detecting is a lot more than just a great detector.

I think since Garrett had an update for it and if you take the time to learn the ins and oits i believe it would be a good detector. I love my AT Gold and Ace 400.

I had the Ace Apex. Well let me just say I have mixed emotions about that machine. It was my first detector breaking into the hobby. It did do justice but, lacked in certain areas. Did help me find my first silver quarter, Mercury dime and Indian head penny but, those were all found on a private property. Can't say the same in trashy parks. It is a beast on the beach! No question Wet or dry sand. I now run the Simplex ultra and man the recovery speed is bananas! Finding coins for days in trashy parks. Great machine but, I can't wait to upgrade to the legend. Hey I'm heading to South Carolina in February. Any metal detecting shops close to North Myrtle beach? I was thinking about the 440 Vanquish I'd settle for a second hand one in decent shape! Just gonna spend time on the beach as it is in walking distance from where I am!

got mine in today did a ton of learning about it i did buy mine with the raider coil and free garret pro pointer at z-lynk got the machine charged up and ready to go in the weekend ill see how that will go soon and learn on the way

@@Stack_Silver hi there I have the machine now for quite some while now and upgraded the raider coil up to the reaper coil had the machine 2 times died on me even with still 3 bars left next day grab the machine empty Dead after charging no problems at all the machine work's great good dept finds really small stuff I did bought a spare machine for those cases when a battery dies the apex is easy to use not easy to transport on a E fatbike and no backlit buttons and no waterproofing the only down side of that machine but other than that very stable settings are easy it's robust only I wish it was a little lighter swinging it feels natural the apex is my land monster and found my first gold and coins with it it's a machine I'll never part with it is a good daylight hunt detector in my book

@@glennshobbiesenzz Thanks for the comprehensive reply! Seems to be a machine to keep as a backup if you already have one. With all the bargain priced new detectors with increased features and functions, I guess this would only be a buy as a backup detector if one could be found used at dicounted garage sale prices.

@@Stack_Silver with all the new stuff and tech there is indeed better available I do have the double score also and switch between them from time to time it's surprising when I do find a new location and give both machines a go and find things the other detector didn't find it's refreshing and keeps the hobby interesting What do you think about the new nokta triple score 3 ??? that's hitting the market in a few weeks ?

@@glennshobbiesenzz I have to say ALL of these flurry of new offerings are coming in fast and furious. Each one trying to offer more capability and for less $$. I actually held off on buying a Nokta Legend becuase there is just some much out now and coming out in day or weeks yet. XP is on the verge of offering something new, and even Garrett (the brand where I started doing detecting at more profienct level) is coming out with their New "STORM" series. The Triple Score from Nokta and now the X-Terra Elite from Minelab are yet another example of Simulataneous Multi-Frequency detectors at incredibly low (comparatively) prices! Personally I a waiting to see what Garrett and XP does next. If I am not impressed, my next detector could very well be any of these latest offerings depending on the final Performance:Value ratio. I'll say it again, it's a good time to be in this metal detecting hobby right now as all of these companies are stepping up their game. WIN/WIN for all of us !

The 440 is useless on any homesites with nails or small bits of iron.. It hits on it like a high tone.. Apex did much better...

Not really, I've got an apex and my cousin has a 540 and we detect together quite often. There's not much difference because we always go over the same targets to check. The important thing is to know your detector well and it's only by comparing and analysing sounds and figures that you can really work well with it. Personally, there's not much difference for me and I've worked with many different brands and even a static detector.
