was talking to someone on discord. i asked them what gmod is and they said "oh the game about nextbots?". Its sad how gmod is just the nextbot game now.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is tired of the NPC category being flooded by 2D nextbots.

To be fair Nextbots are really easy to code,so that might the reason why it's everywhere. just to be a introduction of making your own first mod.

I completely agree with you, they just feel overrated I guess? people say they are "funny" they are just jpeg's that make loud noises, they have kind of ruined the steam workshop as they are even flooding into different games.

SCP-096 by Shaklin is my favourite nextbot in GMod. That thing is so terrifying when it starts to chase you, plus it has a proper model so its infinitely better then all the png nextbots. I hope this whole craze ends soon so we can get the good nextbots that have proper models back

Nextbots are not only ruining the market place but also Ruining the idea of Chaser games in general. All games in which you run from something and have to do a few tasks to beat the game (sorta like slender fortress) have been buried because of these nextbot yters and thanks to that game makers Aren't trying with making chaser games anymore.

You wanna know what i hate more than regular nextbots? Nextbots that go way too fast. It ruins the only thing that makes nextbots fun, running from them. *cough cough* angri munchi, happy, sad, and all the other ones i missed *cough cough* (Make gargitron and terminus more popular they are actually good.)

I have a love hate relationship with nextbots. On one hand, I love them. A fun pass time and simple concept. I was probably attached to them since the Breezy Era. On the other hand, oh my god. Nextbot spam and Nextbot RU-vidrs are so prevalent. I liked nextbots when they were a small thing. The small popularity spike it got made me really happy, but now its just oversaturated and milked to death.

Ah of course this is necos favorite weapon, because it legit gets rid of the things he hates the most. (Except the actual good ones)

Speaking of actually cool 3D Nextbots, I recommend you to check out relatively recent Ryuko fron Kill La Kill which actually fights you and acts pretty much like the original character. I think it's from the same creator as the Senator Armstrong one, which I think, you have checked before, but yeah, both of them are really neat

Don't worry my dude, it's true that thinking about it, those nextbots are just Sanic clones (as Sanic was the first one ever made), just with a spooky appearance and sound effects. Even though Gargitron does bring more additions that makes him more unique and scary. You're very right to think they're trash, because in my honest opinion as well, they are pretty much. Another trendy process eh!

I hate the 2D Nextbots as well, I feel like they are garbage, dumb, and kind of not scary, if you want scary try the scp-096 nextbot. I checked and NecrosVideos is right that all the good nextbots are buried right now, like scp-096, red mist squidward, and The DrgBase Half-Life Nextbots. I think these garbage 2D nextbots are just a fad on gmod right now though. I'm glad to see someone else agrees that 2D nextbots are garbage, dumb, and highly overrated. And as an addon creator, I can tell you that it easy to have your addons buried, and sometimes it seems that my worst addons do very well while my best do poorly

In my opinion I really like 2d nextbots but it’s sad to see creators work their ass off to make such cool 3d nextbots and get no attention but I guess why people love nextbots so much that it’s made as a joke and now A days people love meme stuff.

NothingButThis made so many low effort nextbots after this game from Roblox called Nico's Nextbots (Which other developers on Roblox copied like Evade) AND HE DOSNT EVEN TRY TO CHANGE A THING, like c'mon if I made one of those I would have given them personality like a skinny PNG nextbot would give up after a period of time, or the obese nextbot would be slower than regular nextbots, it's so sad that this amazing thing had to be spammed so much without any change in years until now someone named Gargitron who I give huge respect to for making a different type of nextbot instead of changing the image and audio. Edit: and yes Necros I feel you Necros most of these videos about this random guy on RU-vid spawning in a map and being chased by nextbots barely have any expression, I watched one today and they are like, "why is this door locked?" "I think I hear something" "I'm scared" "I feel like somethings watching me" barely have any expression or new idea put into them with barely any editing at all, the only thing edited is cuts and clips, cuts and clips, CUTS AND CLIPS.

I think what’s unnerving about them is that they don’t feel like they belong. They feel like they shouldn’t exist in the world. They don’t show emotion.

Sad that gmod is known as the nextbots game Ive been playing since i was 10 and now im 21 next bots have been around for a loooongg time its crazy they blew up though memes tiktoks instagram memes and RU-vid shorts but ig this is good for content creation but still it'll just be a content dump of nextbots

I think its good to start your first garry's mod mod with something simple as a 2d nextbot instead of something as complex as a playermodel or a swep but the thing is most people don't even code it themselves they just change the image and sounds without much effort

I only honestly like nextbots that have a diff ai. Like gargitron and terminus (maybe trauma but havent tried him yet but prob still my least cuz yeah speed) but like i do dislike rlly the ones that are only super duper fast. Without even any change to ai or smt. Only fast. And like obunga. I mean like he also has no real diff ai (only like idk make no sound but cant count that rlly that big in) and yeah idk. I prefer personally the ones that are more original. Not those ones that just have no diff ai or some that just have incredible speed. Abt trauma. Havent tried him yet but apparantly he has some diff ai i heard but idk. Seems still a lil too fast lol. Anyway great video btw 👍

Yeah, I sort of agree with the intro regarding the 2D nextbots, and I just wish that the Steam Workshop would be a lot more improvised to categorize addons like them. Though that would be more something to address the people managing Steam as an application.

3D nextbots are better

There's actually another way aside from this addon to kill nexbots, i forgot what it's called but it's from the terminator swep pack.

Another admin gun? This is one of the reasons why I usually carry around long devplat revolver and/or QTG's Admin Rifle. but mostly the latter due to the fact that it can spray bullets in a wide range and can remove an object using it's Universal Kill function (usually on dead ones that still persist).. Usually it's enough to kill off a nextbot or two, but sometimes if I wanna do a cleanup of them, I usually spawn in some of the QTG Hacker NPCs, who can run around and kill mostly anything in their path. It's nice that they don't kill you unless you provoke them. Very useful for killing them. Especially the ones with Sanic AI. I don't know why but I find it more fun just to kill these low quality 2D nextbots. This may be another weapon I can add to my nextbot killers... Mingegod is also great for wiping out a heavy amount of nextbots/enemies in a short timespan. for if I dont' wanna wait that long.

Everyone gets weapons so you can steal it from the one who got it Have a number of next bots on the map not necessarily 2D ones Most nextbot kills wins 🏆 For sure can make it more interesting with a less op anti nextbot weapon but this video gave me that idea non the less

Well I'm not sure why the 2D nextbots got so popular because of the scary essence to them, I can say it's probably the most made because it's not that hard at all to create one, I've created 2 myself but I couldn't figure out how to upload it to the workshop so their just in my gmod forever I guess. It's just easy for people starting to create mods to be like "YAYY I CREATED MY FIRST ADDON" (Which is genuinely the thought I had when I created one.) So they do just make them because it's easier to make than all the others. Why they're popular because scary is beyond my brain.

I dont have an issue with them Hell i even think Nextbits can be icnredibmy useful to test gimmicks and such specially for someone who wants to make an NPC but either isn't good at or doesn't want to 3D model so making (or taking from Google) a 2D image is much simpler because then all you have to do is code and sounds kf you eanna add that too Nextbots are interesting to me only for the novelty of how complex you can make it I never got into Nextbots until Nextbots like Gargitron, Father and Stalkbot began to pop up which are Nextbots who do somethjng MORE than just chase you dosn sometimes at super fast speeds I like playing around with Nextbots in maps like mazes and stuff because this us basically like eunning an AI test to see hwo it eprform and how the gimmicks work and that's whats fun to md and fascinating Specially if the Nextbot isn't omniscient and patrols aorund rather than always knowing where you are and chasing after you Father is a fun example that is the opposite of a Nextbot it hides from you isntead and waits for you to come find hin so it can kill you That's onteresting to me the concept of an entityy "getting crafty" dokng things liek ambushes hiding away on spots to attack you from behind or rush at you etc This is specially cool if combining them So imagine you're in a map with say a simple Sanic Clone Nextbot, Father, Stalkbot, and Gargitron you wjll have 3 different mechanics to be aware of A perpetual chaser gojng ehind you menajng you have to be on the move constantly a Nextbot who requires you look at him or it'll attack you, which means you can run into other nextbots or obstacles that stop or slow you down Gargitorn will be around and coudl pop up at any moment to cone chase you down so you potentially have 2 chasers and by the time you are getitng comfortable you forgot Father is on the map and cojld be hising literally anywhere in the map, and because you're o nthe move constantly or looking at Stalkbot you wont be able to check if Father's inside or not, you'll only have a split second of rraction time or it'll kil lyou Thats whats fun avout them to me How unqiue and complex you can make one and how you can make them work tkgether as a lethal assassination team

I won't be surprised if there's an explosion of 2D Nextbots, honestly most of the people that are giving this kind of Nextbots attention are likely to be a bunch of cringey memelords and are only doing it because they saw their favorite RU-vidr do a video not only with their friends but also with a Nextbot in question with some clickbait title such as "Nextbot name breaches Bunker" or "Nextbot name ambushes in Parking garage" and I'm more inclined to believe that they are nothing but memelords because EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME a popular meme gets made some of these pathetic 2D Nextbots get made to capitalize on the meme's popularity such as the stupid meme related to Metal Gear Vengence, which also just reinforces my own believe that these same memelords are starting to realize that they are becoming obsolete if they are grasping at older games to try and make something out of nothing!
