In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

I really love your videos. Having worn hair systems since around early 20s (I am in my late 40s now), I have gone from the worst kind (I do not even know what the base material is called) to the latest technology (thin skin or natural skin). I do exercise and living in a tropical city in the Asian region means I perspire even without working out. A breathable system is therefore necessary. My latest piece is a French Lace with a PVC outer perimeter. I am still getting used to it but as with all french laces, they are more durable and they breathe better. And I do prefer a semi-permanent system where I can take it out to wash the hair and put it back again. Call me archaic but I still use clips in my system. They are really traditional but that saves me a lot in terms of adhesives. I have never used glue in my whole life and like in one of your videos, I hesitate to use them. For the adhesives, I am also very cautious since I can't have one which sticks so well and if I were to remove it daily, it might result in a less stickiness in a shorter period of time. Therefore I use clips. However clips can also damage your existing hair but when you are doing yoga and are on your downward dog, you feel secure that the clip is tight to your existing hair. I guess I will continue to use a combination of clips and less sticky tape (the ultrahold kind is not very suitable). Anyway, just want to assure you to keep your videos coming as you really make comments that are very real and sound for a hairloss sufferer. Not everyone can take a bald head as perhaps genetically our head shapes may not be that suitable. I continue to go back to hairloss systems as it gives me the confidence to live my daily lives. l have watched MHE Curtis which you have mentioned and today there are a few entreprenuers who are disrupting the hair system industry by offering many an alternatives and DIY to the thousand dollar systems which you once have to go through the hair system chains. Continue to post your experience on hair systems! Kudos.

I've used a French Lace system from Day one. Living in a warm and humid environment definitely requires some ventilation. I was advised by the hair system company I purchased from to start with a poly perimeter, due to the delicate lace structure. I then graduated to poly on just the back and sides. Now, being comfortable handling it, I've gone with a full lace. It comes down to your comfort zone. Your system looks fantastic!
@Chin715
@Chin715 Год назад
What are your thoughts on how realistic the poly perimeter looked vs poly in the back and sides? I thought poly was more delicate than lace - is that inaccurate?

The problem with this units is the the front part is thinskin or super thinskin in the best case. For an exposed hairline I only rely on Ultra thin skin, but for some reason they don't a do a swiss-center with UTS perimeter combo or at least only the front part, which would be the perfect combination. Ventilation and a perfect front, and a good hold. That would be the perfect system but nobody comes up with it.

Also if it is that then skin how do not tear it when using tape in the front? Thanks it looks amazing. So happy to hear this new system is working out for you Jake. I think it looks wonderful. It’s great to hear about the different options available as well. I’ve been wearing my Swiss lace (from Curtis) for two weeks now and I have to say it’s going pretty well. Just did a complete cleaning and reinstall this morning. The only thing is I still need to get it cut and blended but that can’t happen until the hairdressers are allowed to cut hair again. I decided to install it regardless though just to get used to the way it would feel and I’m slowly getting used to it. The hardest part for me is trying to line it up but thankfully, my roommate has helped we with that. So far, so good!

@Addy Sykes glad to answer any questions you might have. Firstly, I get all my supplies from Curtis. His Starter kit is absolutely perfect! I use tape at the back and sides and also use one piece of tape verically across the forehead along with glue on the front. I actually find doing the front part really easy. It holds very well if you don't overstretch it and let it lay more naturally and let it go where it wants to go. Also, I would recommend a satin pillowcase for sleeping at night. Cotton pillowcases can cause some movement necause the hair kinda catches and sticks to it but no issues with that with a satin pillowcase at all! The hair doesnt stick to it at all! I honestly think it may last 3 to 4 months. If you install it yourself, take your time! Don't rush through any part of it. Trust me, rushing will lead to issues. It. does get easier the more you do it. Lining it up is what I find most difficult but I have found putting that vertical piece of tape on the forehead to hold it in place and then slowly rolling the rest on your head very, very, very gently works best for me. Ever so gently pulling the sides outward as you're rolling it towards the back of your head nice and flat. If you have anyone to assist you that you trust for the first few installs, that would be highly recommended unless you have your hairstylist do the attachment. I am happy to send you pics to let you see what it looks like if you want. Curtis's units are great quality but hair systems are delicate in general so you have to be gentle with them. The front hairline on his Swiss lace units look very natural it you just let the system lay naturally on your forehead without overstretching it. One other item that I find very handy it one of those plastic dental floss things with the plastic pick on the one end. Using that end dipped on rubbing alcohol is a very useful tool to get those random hairs that get stuck in the glue along the front hairline unstuck. All these tips are from Curtis's videos so he deserves the credit, not me. One last thing, Curtis is AMAZING and answering questions and responding quickly. His customer service is impeccable! Oh one last thing, if you order from HairbyMHE, send in a hair sample if you can! Curtis did an incredible job with the hair colour match. The system will look a bit darker at first but it lightens a bit after you wash it. Mine is an absolute perfect colour match with 10% grey. The grey added makes it look extremely natural.

I have a similar setup, only that the front is Swiss lace in my case. To be honest, that front gives me the most issues as well. I use no shine tape at the front since I don’t want to use the liquid stuff and optically it is fine I guess. But I am having the hardest time to place the tapes just right on the edge of the lace. For the next system I would also consider poly on the front. How thick is the poly part you have there? And any chance that you will show us a close up of the hairline in a future video? Cheers!

Hey Jake. I'm coming up to two years wearing systems from MHE. I'm very happy with Curtis' systems and his customer service. Have you ever tried tape directly on the Swiss Lace hairline? I'm wondering if it might be a good idea during the hotter summer months. I also ride a motorcycle in the summer, so the sweat really builds up and can become a problem when taking the helmet off (I wear a dew rag under my helmet, but it does pull off sometimes). I tend to have awesome adhesion, even though I do sweat a bit, but it would definitely take the worry away from wondering if your lace is lifting when you're running around in the summer public and pulling your helmet on and off. I have a partially exposed hairline, although I am thinking on getting a bit braver with hairline exposure.
@toddk4115
@toddk4115 4 года назад
I tried mixed bases before and the 'joins' always drove me nuts. The least detectable is all super fine swiss lace. There is no perfect base because it's not real growing hair. There will always be pros and cons. Where i live in the summer or now it starts getting super humid when we do have a nice day. All glue attachments don't work for me that well and the glue breaks down super fast. White glues turn white and clear glues melt. So maybe I"ll start trying tape but my bio hair is so light and fine that I have to wear my sides shaven to a #1 or #2 but I still have my temple points, etc. I think I'm going to try some sort of system like this to see if I can make my life easier or just live bald. Also since my bio hair is so fine and light doing the tape thing on the sides with a light or extra light density you can see the tape line so that's whay I always use all glue. Kind of a touch situation to be in for a hair wearer. lol

Phil has some of the best work I’ve seen. He’s also been the only hair system stylist to properly leverage social media

Jake Kent Jake seriously you do need hair, BUT NOT THAT HAIR. Poly look fabulous on you. Go back to poly and just work out less. That system looks fake.

Jacob Thomas Thinking of William Shatner, Jake went from Star Trek GOOD HAIR SYSTEM to TJ HOOKER bad hair system with this new lace unit. So 70's. Get with 2020 Jake. Poly or skin systems

Even with a lace system (what I've always used) I still feel "dirty" with exercise. Oh well at least you're happy.

Do you think Hair Systems will get so good that you can leave it on your head for months?

Great question! Maybe if we can find the right technology!

I have no clue what's in the works but I feel like there should be something out there that bonds so well and is so breathable that it's actually safe to permanently attach individual hairs to the first layer of the skin which would last for the entire growth cycle of the first layer of skin.

I still think you are training way too much. Watch the videos and interviews of the renowned ex-Soviet strength coach Pavel Tsatsouline. There is no Russian word for "workout" - meaning to work yourself out. You should be training regularly, but only be maxing out twice a year, or once a month at most. The Russians train more intelligently and are stronger for it. Some of their strength records from the 80s still stand. Watch his interviews. All that being said, I used to train like you maxing out all the time. I fixed the sweat issue by training at home, doing a heavy sweaty set then putting an ice pack from the freezer on top of the poly system between sets to cool down and stop the sweating. It worked great. Plus unlike the gym, I could play my own music and there were no idiots in the way.
