Even though I hate Limited Editions of which Omega excells in releasing several per year, even though I have some serious reservations about the aesthetics of this watch - it nevertheless showcases Omega's ingenuity and imaginations when it comes to packing myriad of details on a piece of precious metal not big enough to cover your wrist properly ! Lovely video !

a real piece of moon, that is what has sold it for me. but i will never be able to afford it. nor would i be comfortable spending that much money on a watch. but put that all aside, it is a really cool watch.

I've seen this watch in the Omega Boutique and it glows like a real piece of gold. It looks luxurious. I think it would be a viable alternative to a Rolex Day Date in yellow gold with the champagne dial & despite being a limited edition, would likely be easier to buy. The only downside I can see is it's 42mm case which is a bit big for my 6 1/4" wrist. The Rolex at 40mm would be a better fit. But that doesn't stop it being a very cool thing.

The 1969 Speedmaster (145.022-69 with the 861 cal.) you referenced is my all-time favourite Omega. Given that they auction at around £70,000, I’d say that this is a comparative bargain.

You are absolutely right. This Speedy £24,000 and you'll get back £12,000 if you sell it. The Daytona £11,000 and you'll get back £20,000 if you sell it. Damn it - such a difficult decision. On the other hand, you'll soon see this Speedy discounted by 20% at least, so the loss will be less.

@@3000waterman Being able to actually buy a Daytona at retail would be helpful! I still prefer the Speedie, regardless of resale value; in my opinion once money is spent on any luxury item it's written off, if sold in future it's regarded as a bonus. It's all academic though as I won't be buying either until the kids have buggered off!

@@DrinkWater713 Except we're all subject to ambition to update or upgrade. It's called 'watch itch'. At that stage many would want or need to use the residual value of their existing watch to help pay for the new acquisition. And not everyone wants more than one watch - I don't. My watch has been with me for a very long time, but it still pleases me to think that if I (or my descendants) sell it on, it's worth four times what I paid for it. Mind you, I think that super value inflation bubble is burst.
