When I first started watching you I mentioned that I had bought a boat and was rebuilding it. Where you are now is where I was. I rebuilt the carbs and changed all the fluids. I put it on the lake and it would take 10-20 minutes to actually start. (At the house on ear muffs it would start right up) Anyways, found out that it was the fuel. It was the one thing I didn't think about. What he said about the ethanol fuel in an old mercury is very true. Yall listen to the fat guy cause he knows a thing or 2. Much love 👍
Thanks for the shout out! She’s been a great boat since I’ve done the work on her. Sounds like that starter is going out, I had the same issue. I bought my starter off eBay for 60ish, and yes it was a new Chinese one but it’s held up for 4 years so far. The force that you have is a Chrysler block and electronics, merc lower and controls. It was owned by US marine and sold to merc. My 90 and my 120 have been amazing!
@@FatGuyinaLittleBoat and, I’ve been looking into it to restore my dads boat that has a 90HP we’ve had since new. I also did all my own work to my 120, with the exception of syncing the carbs
My force did the exact same thing. Starter wldnt disengage, it ran and started rough, and it was hard on a battery. I bought a Merc to replace it and have never had any major issues with it....yet.
Absolutely not. As soon as the Panga is finished (just a couple more things left to do) that boat is my next priority. Ive been thinking about what to do with it and I’m considering the idea of making it a fish and ski type setup and converting the bow into a fishing deck. What do you think?
The fish and ski idea sounds pretty cool! I recently bought a 1998 regal 1700 LSR with a jet on it. 175hp. I plan to gut the interior on mine in the next year or so.
