Yes it was great to walk through Mae Kampong. Phrao has little for tourists but I was curious as I heard that it was a military outpost before Chiang Mai existed. Topography suggests why, Just completed my tour. These four northern districts are a must: Fang, Chiang Dao, Mae Taeng and Mae On but not easy to reach. @@BangkokJack858
