This MVP race has gone too far... 

Lip and Someone are kinda the only correct choices for MVP. Lip's existence creates a fucking quantum mechanics paradox that gives every DPS player an existential crisis due to not knowing if Sombra would be this influential without him (but we'll never know) and has hands down made the rest of the league follow a strict set of rules. 1. Choose Sombra. 2. Lose because you're not Lip. That alone makes him fucking great and the most influential player in OWL history. Someone, however, has so much flexibility it feels like he has played more characters than the Season 2 Hunters did. At some points I think he could genuinely swap onto the DPS and we would all think it's still Mer1t. He's basically just Mirror if he took a metric ton of steroids and made a hyperbolic time chamber just to study every character perfectly. If any player is this flexible, delivers as good as he is and outplays Fearless on every tank except Monkey, then that deserves recognition. He's also a slightly better tank than Checkmate, but Checkmate was GOATed so it's still a win.

I think Viol2t is a more valid choice than fearless. Viol2t existing on the roster single handedly makes houston insanely flexible and not needing to sub in a 3rd support no matter the meta, nobody else is doing the main + flex role like he is except maybe Ch0…

Someone plays everything at the highest level and is mayhems identity. He fits both criteria for mvp.

Imagine how screwed the league would be if shu had a few years of coaching under rush like fielder has had. Like imagine the perfected version of shu's playstyle we'd see

Great video! I would say while lip has been infuencual this season with the Sombra, Someone is the perfect OW2 tank. While teams have multiple tanks for different roles dividing playtime, Someone can keep the momentum he has with his team. While Lip made Sombra meta, Someone made playing other comps meta and valuable to the point to counter Sombra. And while Lip is amazing player, i dont think the Reign would be that differ without him, where Someone defines the Mayhem. Someone is my MVP

Someone ticks all the boxes for what I think should be required for an MVP, which I don't think can be said for every other candidate; He's the best player on his team. He's easily one of the top in his role in the league (you could argue he's the best). He is the most important factor in his teams success (Mayhem slip out of the top 3 powerhouse without him). His team has also had great success this season. When I look at other candidates I just don't think they meet all this criteria. Considering the 'best player on the team'; since 3 Atlanta Reign players are nominated, and people arguing it should have been 4, I don't really see how you can decide who the best is on the team (and people will have different opinions). Same goes for Outlaws with their 3 nominations. Someone is the best player, pound-for-pound respective to his role, in his team. Unquestionable. You're off the goop arguing that. I note Merit is on the list but that's been pretty controversial, so it doesn't weigh in so heavily when arguing 'how can two players on the same team be nominated i.e. best in their team/the league'. Also considering "most important factor in his teams success" you can use the same argument. 3 (argued 4) Atlanta Reign nominations and 3 Outlaw nominations. With so many nominations you could argue any one of those players could be traded from their team, and their team would still find similar success. You trade Someone out of Mayhem, they're not a top NA team. Call it spicy, but in an alternate universe Someone left Mayhem and they got Marve1 instead - and while I don't think they would be Sadiators levels of misery, they're certainly running middle of the pack instead of our universe's top 3 (top 1 currently if you ask me). I'm not even going to humor Zest or Skewed. Sorry boys, but being hot shit in APAC doesn't mean jack when you had such a horrible performance against the NA boys in the Midseason. I honestly don't think, if you were to power rank both regions, you should consider any APAC team a 'top team'. Boston joins the conversation and the best I'm giving Infernal is 5th. Decay and Twilight could have made this list over Zest and Skewed - and we're not giving MVP to a Boston boy due to team success imo, they just fell slightly too short. Makes me consider the "team has also had great success" point and whether Infernal actually tick that. So give it to Someone already and let's not waste our time.

Also holy shit how is mer1t on this list yet Ch0r0ng, arguably the only other main supp to do what Chiyo and Viol2t are right now (Chiyo in terms of just being a nasty ass ms, but also with Viol2t levels of flexability) not on the mvp ballot

"No-one is more valuable to their team than he is" Yet you still pick Lip...curious! All jokes aside, Someone is my pick, but the Lip argument is just as strong. I'd just like to see a tank (that's actually a tank player and playing a tank role and not a beefy DPS) win MVP finally.

I’m a biased Floridian but I been for Someone all season long. I think it’s tough to truly have an MVP on a team with multiple candidates. I think what Fielder provides for his role is still bigger than what Lip provides on one hero. To me Fielder without a doubt is the best flex support in the league. Lip is the best Sombra but when we look at other DPS that’s ballin rn he doesn’t clearly stand over him. Now I admit he is the best hitscan imo but it’s not by much all heroes considered. If Mayhem didn’t have Someone I don’t think we would be as good. Sure the rest of the team is still good but they’re so flexible thanks to Someone literally playing every tank at a high clip.

As a big time Atlanta Reign fan, I actually voted Someone for MVP. It wasn’t an easy choice but I think he is flat out more irreplaceable on the Mayhem vs Lip on the Reign. If Lip wins MVP I’ll love it. I just couldn’t pick him over Someone based on my MVP beliefs.

Don’t get me wrong, Someone is probably the best tank in OWL right now, but everyone’s argument for him being mvp is kind of weird to me. “Oh, he’s so flexible! He can play like 8 different heroes!” Idk man, I’m not a pro or a coach or anything, but 8 heroes doesn’t seem like that much to me, just sayin 🤷‍♂️

Shu definitely has a valid argument for MVP, hes a top 3 pick with Lip and Someone. You massively overrate the importance of stats in the Overwatch League if you think Shu is worse than Fielder.

Shu deserves mvp more than stalk3r, i think stalk3r is easily top 5 tracer in the league but i think a part of his nomination was because he was in the best team, like if proper was in atlanta he would be nominated aswell

Imagine playing all hard hitscan to a runner up MVP level, being the best sojoun the next year, and then defining a meta on Sombra while vacationing on tracer when stalker plays echo. The only other hitscan this flexible is Happy. No one dogs Fearless for locking winston in monkey metas. Someone already makes the choice hard and would be a great deserving mvp. If either gets it, its the right outcome.

Voting for an Atlanta Player just feels kinda wrong considering they basically one tricked the whole year and looked shaky on everything else. That's what gives someone the edge to me. He's played everything he's been needed for well, and mayhem like to play a huge variety of comps so he's had plenty of opportunity to show that off
