How can a basketball team that leads the league in scoring be so bad? This is how.
CHERRY PICKING ALERT
I have to admit some of this data was cherry-picked to fit my narrative. Did I intentionally exclude that their Offensive Rating (points per 100 possessions) was close to the bottom of the league? That the only reason they scored so much was because of their inefficiently high pace? That their field goal % was 44% and dead last in the league? Yea, I did intentionally exclude those details.
This easily could've been turned into a demonstration of how "per game" stats are misleading. And there are several videos breaking down how the 1990 - 1991 Denver Nuggets that do just that.
More than anything it was interesting that a team could score so much, defend so poorly, and ultimately drop an absolute stinker of a season.
