@@edsaban572 I’m always happy so you do you. They are not the only brand I buy but they are the most. Hogue, Microtech, and Protech make up the rest. I’m not really a spiderco fan.
@@Fly2kill1 I hear ya, got no problem with that. Butterfly tax is getting out of hand, though. I'd rather spend that $ on Hogue, CRK, Emerson, Kershaw (their US-made stuff is crazy good value), Microtech, etc. Not trying to deter you, if you're happy that's good!
No joke! I can drive to Benchmade HQ in lil over an hour but I don't buy Benchmade anymore. The butterfly tax went from silly to ridiculous over the past several years
If economic history teaches us anything, it’s “what goes around, comes around”. Companies don’t remain profitable or stay in business for long by gouging their customer base. Price gouging is a guaranteed way to kill a business model.
Even the Benchmade fanboys are going to have trouble justifying these new prices. Looking at you Redoubt. I can't even consider getting a Bugout when I can get a Manix for $10 more or a Hogue Deka in Magnacut for $20 less.
That pricing is insane. While I certainly appreciate the design aesthetics involved, these knives deserve a hard nope from buyers given the off-putting price points involved. As always, Wayne, we appreciate your content. Many of us are simply done with the price gouging and diminished knife value some manufacturers are employing these days. I’ve reached the point where I’ve begun to ignore knife offerings from some manufacturers altogether. Benchmade is one of them.
I love how you said interesting pricing when really he means completely inflated pricing. I used to be such a benchmade fan, my first premium knife was a 940. Now I wouldn't buy one if they were offering free tuggies with it
Price is absolutely unacceptable. Other companies are making the same or BETTER quality knives, for much less. Benchmade isn't worth the price anymore.
I love Benchmade. This is yet another awesome knife from them. That being said, the prices from them so far this year for the most part have been absurd.
For sure. The knives really are very nice designs. Same for the Narrows. I don’t like the pocket clip choice, but it really is a cool knife. Just no where remotely close to $520+ in value.
@@WaynesSharpWorld 100% agree. I love the Narrows, I want one really bad, but I wouldn't pay more than $300 for it and that still feels just a tad much lol.
I like the longer one 🥺 but the price is ridiculously too high ! Ya know if people would stop paying such high prices , they would have to drop to sell them !
@@WaynesSharpWorld feel that way too. The only one I’m considering is the sheepsfoot spidey hole mini grip cause it’s a legend but apart from maaaybee that….nah
You could probably reblade a mini bugout for not too much more, and have more handle options to choose from. Or just wait for the $69 knockoff with better blade centering.
Would like to support US made. That price though, plus not sending out Omega springs...SRM sent me 2 free sets of Omega springs, in an upgraded spring steel from the original, when i broke a set. Seems like Benchmade and other brands from America are happy the fill the collections of a few people with lots of cash, rather than make knives people take to work and use.
I like the design, but Benchmade's pricing is way out of line. In my opinion, it should be about one hundred dollars less than what they're asking. I won't even consider it at that price.
Benchmade's overall execution of design is possibly the best amongst their competitors. Having said that, It'll be a while before I buy another. Their new pricing is insulting and disgusting.
I’m happy with my Bugout, and that’s as far as I’m going with Benchmade…I think their prices are like paying for (insert name brand here). Don’t get me wrong, I have dropped money on knives…but I think they are pushing well beyond what they actually spend to make the knife.
I ditched benchmade because of their horrible price for the very questionable quality years ago. This is just insulting at this point. That's ZT and Microtech money.
Just picked up a manual opening blue anodized model today at my local retailer. It is very nice! I got out the door after tax for under $250. The price did not bother me all that much, but I may be singing a different tune if I paid full retail. M4 steel, diamond textured aluminum scales and a good action out of the box. It will be a nice summer carry.
Dude I want the manual so bad, such a sweet blade shape and the colour scheme and scales look sick! But benchmade is crazy! I don’t know how they don’t realise that now they don’t have a monopoly on the axis lock they need to be putting out competitive, innovative products more than ever and they’re just giving us the same at ever increasing prices!
Is is all happening because everyone snaps up every $200-$400 Chinese made knife that hits the market. Benchmade financial officers just price their knives above the imports regardless of production costs.
i stopped giving benchmade my business after they got caught doing anti gun stuff like 7 years ago, their prices over the past couple years are ridiculous
@@nickallen8333 they destroyed guns for the Oregon police. Idk why, but they didn’t have a problem with it until it was exposed and people got mad about it
Benchmade has their crap backwards as of 2020. The pricing is ridiculous. I was a diehard Benchmade fan but these prices… $500 for a titanium knife… no thanks. Spyderco is doing pretty decent when it comes to keeping the prices low and somewhat reasonable. What I’m trying to say here is … BENCHMADE LOWER YOUR PRICES. 🤙🏼
I could see $200 but more than that seems crazy. Hopefully Benchmade is paying attention to their customers before it’s too late. Same with Microtech. Spyderco isn’t there yet but well on the way.
I was stoked for benchmade but the pricing makes me want to ditch them altogether. I had planned to get the complete orange and blackcarbonfiber collection, like the meatcrafter 2 and raghorn, but the meatcrafter was about $450 and the s45vn blade is wayyy too brittle, I did one deer, CAREFULLY and already have micro chips out of their 'select edge'. It's infuriating
I own 6 or 7 Benchmades I bought in the 90s and early 2000s. Their prices today are just stupid and I'll never buy a new one. Own twice as many Spydercos and about done with them as well. There are too many great knives out there with better materials and build qualities for way less.
I could never justify it in todays knife market. There are just to many manufacturers putting out amazing knives for 50-100. My biggest regret in my knife collecting was buying a benchmade.
I’ve so many Benchmades. The price has gone up so much over the years that I was able to sell most of them for the original price years later. Love the longer version and colour, but the price is prohibitive.
The smaller auto echos the Runt from protech. Like the look and materials but that price tag is STEEP, especially considering the alternatives in that range.
I think the price is way too high for sub 3 blade. M4 is a decent steel but damn. I also think that American manufacturers are pricing their knives higher than overseas manufacturers because they’re trying to prove a point. Yes the price is insane but that’s right around the ballpark for premium materials. I feel the price should be right around $240-$260. I would be all over it at $250
Yeah Benchmade is getting carried away with their pricing. I love my bugouts especially the 535bk-4 but even the basic grivory models are approaching $200 😅 I like that they are still made in the USA atleast
This is a rare non crappy plastic Benchmade out there and I really like it but $270 seems high for this… I am a big critic of Benchmade pricing but I really like this. For just $30 more you can get an aluminum handle Microtech Stitch Ram-Lok and the Stitch is absolutely twice the knife for almost the same price…
I love the look of that little thing and I would love to carry one, but that price is just ridiculous. I’ll just keep buying Hinderer if these mass produced knives keep pushing their prices up to within a hundred bucks or so might as well get the small batch fit and finish for that money.
As a benchmade fan I wouldn't pay 270 and I didn't. That being said this little beast is some of the best blade geometry benchmade has ever put out. Mine is a mere 13 thousandths behind the edge. I would say check out gp knives for the best price 👍. I really hope benchmade finds a way to not price themselves out of most buyers pockets because this really is a great knife. The price is just really high. For the price I paid I am very happy overall.
Knock $100 off the price and more people would buy it. Same with the bailout, it’s now $270. I want one, but I can get the medium sized microtech otf for that price
I prefer 3 and under inch blades, so this is right up my alley. In no universe can I justify Benchmades current prices. Looks like this one will be staying out of the collection.
The price is above of a freakin spyderco shaman wtf benchmade is going crazy. Hell you can get some rare sprint run spydercos with high end steels for that price 😵💫
Interesting price? Idk I’m growing tired of Benchmades pricing as of late. If you got to do away with your warranty do that then but 300 for a 2.5 inch knife is unreasonable
Man, I’m a huge Benchmade fan and I think this knife looks pretty neat -but how much now??? That is a bit ridiculous. I may need to find another favorite knife company.
The rent is too damn high. Benchmade is just going to keep hiking these prices. Those TV commercials during football games aren't going to pay themselves.
Beautiful knives. WAY too much money. I have 50 Benchmades, but I’m kinda done with the price increases. Should be priced no more than the larger M4 Bailout, which is no more than $220.
My thoughts are this is like $300 for 2 inches of m4 and the skinny one they came out with is $500…meanwhile Spyderco just let out a s90v para 3 lightweight for $140…benchmade is turning out to be a sham.
I’ve handled this at a sportsman’s and it’s so underwhelming. They lost me at the narrows. Don’t get the hype with the adamas, bailout etc. the crooked River is alright but damn they’ve fallen off
Dude I been waiting on the manual version to match my m4 bailout . But no way they lost their minds . And that new titanium "thin knife" over $500 what ... Id rather get a CRK or Hinderer or a ... anything else .
