sounds good on paper. how the hell are they going to optimize all this, though? highly detailed lighting, high-poly interiors and car models, damage system, all possible customization combinations, dynamic police AND traffic AI... all in roblox? I hope development won't collapse under its own weight, it'd be a shame to lose all this
Yes, same thing happened with Midnight Racing Tokyo. The game looked like this but they couldn't optimize it well Edited: Now Ik that ROBLOX isn't optimized, but they should do so.

It would be awesome to see this as a mainstream racing game for console and PC. It's got so much potential. I feel that the Roblox platform could potentially hold the project back in so many ways, but it's a start. Can't wait to play!
I think for the first time in a while, I’m super excited for a Roblox racing game. This has the potential to blow MRT out of the water and possibly be an easier way to enjoy street racing without having to get Asseto Corsa. Hopefully this game has a friendly handling system to all players because it would be awesome to just have fun racing, though hope crashed only matter when it comes to walls and AI and not player on player
i got assetto corsa ultimate edition for like 3$ lol, assetto corsa is one of the most accessible sim racing games out there. If it wants to be an accessible street racing shutoko project-style game, i hope they can optimize it.
assetto corsa isnt really that expensive if your only buying the base game and the japanese car pack since I'm pretty sure alot of mods need that dlc anyways the price of ac right now is really low
@@Nlckyy sorta going off above and what you said but I guess it depends on what experience you want. For me personally, I had a really hard time using a controller in Asseto and I didn’t bother with WASD, so I ended up getting a Logitech steering wheel and it makes a difference. I could get into handling and what not while using WASD but I agree that the price for Asseto isn’t the issue, it’s just the handling for the game at times and the learning curve of using different control methods. Sorta why I am excited to see such a large scale Roblox project because if they nail handling down, you won’t need a steering wheel to really push the car. At least that’s how I see it

true I can run fh4 ultra with good fps, but a simple game like greenville gives me 40 fps, sorry but with the current game engine, roblox won't get any far like they expect to
Hello, a previously contracted MRT optimization expert here, from the looks of it you guys are doing everything right! Nicely detailed but still low/mid poly models a balanced amount of transparent textures barely any world space GUI objects (MRT's biggest problem currently) there are more possible issues that i've seem with MRT but i can't name them from memory currently. anyways, great job and i'm very curious about the future of this project! Post scriptum: i've got a few quick questions how will you guys be managing the server memory usage for the large quantity of promised parts? what's the plan if lighting recalculations will take up more than half the rendering time when driving at high speed? (like in MRT) How high is optimized code prioritized over getting stuff done? (eg, will you do re-writes once you have your code completed?) Is there going to be a limit on how many skinned meshes you will allow for the custom decal liveries? I've experimented with optimized vehicle AI myself, are you guys using a form of Hybrid A* or something along the lines of a custom grid?
Honestly roblox really needs to get an engine upgrade. Developers are starting to get real ambitious and the engine is just trying to hold it all together
this is...amazing, this could be revolutionary for the roblox engine as no game has ever went this full on detail before the biggest prayer that i have is that this project does not fall apart and the team behind it keep up the good work and cooperate extremely well!
This is definitely going to be a good addition to car culture on Roblox. To my knowledge, right now we only have Midnight Racing that focuses on JDM culture. There are other games that have JDM vehicles on them but do not focus on it. Game also looks stunning and will add to the appeal. Really looking forward to this game in the future.
There is many others, GV is kinda like one but it is a roleplay game, driving empire, Touge Legends, Either Driver Car racing, and many other more that I can not name lol
Is this even roblox anymore? the detail has been applied so well to the point that it can be mistaken to be a whole different game, with the amount of features and tools and looks this game brings with it. it's perfect. the definition of the maps in this game is outrageously perfect as well as the rain and weather system, i have seen lightning, not in any car games on roblox but the lightning in the others games are not as close as this when in detail wise, i hope this game gets as popular as most other games on roblox as games that have a lot of detail tend to not be very popular and sometimes they may die off. but this game has made it to the next level, good luck. I don't know much about JDM or drifting and such, but this video popped up in my recommended and damn, I'm in awe.😳☠
this is truly the work art i always believed that the engine used for roblox is incapable of making racing games with this lvl of detail, but this proved me that i was completely wrong
On another note it’s amazing how far game making has come, these graphics would’ve been just amazing back during the PS2/Xbox days but now game designing has become so convenient that anybody can use even a game like Roblox to make a good racing game, crazy.

As one of the comments I saw earlier, I agree with how optimization will be handled because of custom weather, AI traffic, police and car damage on top of highly detailed models. One thing is for sure though: this game is already a lot better, not only in graphics but in features too, such as performance customizations and an in-game custom livery designer. If and when Project SOKUDO does release to the public either in Alpha, Beta, or full release, it may go toe to toe with Midnight Racing Tokyo, maybe even surpass it. No hate to the developers of MRT, they have a good game don't get me wrong, and I do understand the amount of time it takes trying to dial in performance customization. All in all, looking very good and promising so far for Project SOKUDO.
This seems like an awesome car game, I personally love the idea of AI cars as I hate driving around other roblox car games and seeing nobody on the roads, one thing would be that if this does become an RP game then people would probably just drift around the place a lot which I understand you have police and such but I am not sure if they would be enough to stop some gamers from speeding and causing chaos in game I recommend adding a vehicle damage system so that if they crash into a wall at high speeds then their car could be seriously damaged possibly beyond repair or even able to drive anymore. Overall great showcase and I am excited to play it
You guys should make this game out of roblox (like Forza, Gran Turismo, BeamNg.Drive etc.) with unity or with apps of that kind. It could be wild ! But as the time being, leaving it in Roblox won't be that bad. (And I know you'll have to redo the phisycs and buttons (GUI) etc, it's hard but rewarding.)
I agree, if this was made in a software like Unreal or Unity, they'll have a lot more technical leverage and also don't have to worry if Roblox servers will be down to upload their game.
This looks amazing but like many have said this will take a ton of optimizing. I'm sure we can get a version like this running well but it's a matter of dedication the team has to fixing every last thing and probably rescripting a ton of stuff just to get it to run smoothly.

The problem is roblox it's. It is going to crap itself if to many AI's are in a game especially ones that drive and I assume will have a hitbox, the lag is going to sky rocket in the game and will destroy any chance lower end PC's can play and make it annoying for good PC to play cus of the frame drop. Idk how they will resolve this issue, but honestly in my opinion they should use a different game engine for this game, look at MRT they had to sacrifice a lot of the quality/ details of cars and maps just so lower end PC players can join.
This game's looking hella good. However I'm afraid it might flop and here's why. First of all, graphics are looking very detailed and that brings us to the optimization. Not every computer would handle it. Second, I think that many players would leave it because to have a nice looking car, you'll need to grind these coins to get an average looking and tuned car. Third, i think that people will forget about the game when it'll release. What do you think bout this?
that is true I mean sure this is 1 month ago not every player has a good pc to play like FPS shooter racing games or others so I can see why the game will flop

I'm pretty hyped, it's hard to find many racing games in Roblox that aren't an asset copies and feel good, some rare exceptions are few like Driving Simulator by Nocturne. Can't wait until this is out.
This game looked good but tbh for low end devices it would be hard to play, I also play in low-medium gaming laptap. I hope they add a lag reduction system or similar like that...

I quit playing Roblox like 5 years ago and I did not realize how far this game has come, I was playin like jailbreak and vehicle simulator I think they’re called, I might have to reinstall it and find my old account just to check this out
the only thing that blows my mind is the sense of speed in this like holy shit thats a factor that breaks multiple car games for me including assetto corsa
This is a great car game in my opinion! You guys did a really great job on it. It does sometimes give me some Need for Speed vibes but other than that i think this game can top all of the other roblox games out there! Great job on it!

It would be sick to try and impliment sounds from ATG engine simulator to get the best possible engine sounds out there. Most likely, there are already engines made for every car that the maker has planned
This just should be its own separate game away from roblox, to make sure the community is just people that actually would take the game seriously. I don’t want a 7 year old to ruin my whole gaming experience just because they can’t stack blocks.

its pretty cool ,they could of done the camera a bit better tho, its too shaky and could be more smoothe. But overall the ai ,damage collisions and interiors inpressed me the most :D
i love the lightning especialy the car lights it doesnt look all so weird but like an actual car but im afraid that the performance in this game might be pretty bad so i would suggest free private servers in this game
Well I'm working on a game called "Project Dayride Highways" it's still in progress of being build i am the only one working on it well the map is being built right now soon be published it's same like this game but my laptop can't handle intense work so meanwhile im gonna play this for inspiration
