I used to do that job and it is always the administration that inhibits and discourages the workers. I hope it succeeds ♥

I was a nurse, and when I started training there were 4 staff to look after 30 elderly pts, most of whom suffered from dementia. They were totally dependant, it was back breaking work, and I saw pressure sores you could put your fist in. The ward was an old fashioned one, straight with beds on either side. We did our best, but I know we couldn't do everything the poor pts needed. It's wonderful to watch this, well done, and may God bless you all, not forgetting the pts!! Love and respect, xxx🌺🌺🌺🌺🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

As an individual who has already struggled with an Aging / terminally ill / Late parent, I recognized that Ontario's LTC system was a "Hot mess" and opted to reject it by keeping my Mother at Home with PSW assistance. It was indeed a long and sometimes harsh struggle with many personal and economic losses that few would want to take on. But I do not regret it because I did not lose my beloved Mother to the INSTITUTIONAL NEGLIENCE that I saw pervading in the LTC 20 yrs ago. And I was proven right many times. I tried for several years to bring my concerns to both Liberal and NDP politicians but was met with patronizing indifference. The Pandemic ripped the covers off LTC to expose all its failings. But I feel we still have Govts that remain Uncommitted to Investing in Real change, failing to recognize that one day they will require the same supports !

I worked for assisted living and it’s sick the way they pay management etc so much for minimal value when ALL the work is done by care staff.

I had 40 patients to change around 2:00am & dress every morning before breakfast. 40! I worked midnights. After 3 years I burned out and moved away to study for my EMT.

You shouldn't be feeding a resident lying down. You need to elevate there head

They are converting to person centred care which works very well in most care provided services. This type of care revolves around the needs and wants of the customer/patient of services provided. All long term care homes should provide their services in this matter for dignity and respect of patients.

Not all long term care homes operate like this one. This is an exception to the rule. LTCF are profit based and the one like this are expensive. My wife is a LTCF PSW and she is stretched thin on every shift where the average cost of a residence is $5,000.00. So as much as this is a feel good story it is far from reality.

I've been in this system visiting my total needs husband for 5 years. I visited EVERYDAY for 5 years from 9am until 11pm and many times slept in a chair for 4 nights because i did not trust the nurse!!!! Terrifying years!!!!😪

This is good news and the staff in long term care need to be better staffed and these staff NEED to be paid better wages...Most top up at $25. and hour which is horrible!! I know this first hand as my mom was in long term care in AB...but I will say the staff were wonderful souls despite not being paid a good wage.

This LTC does an amazing job caring for their residents. Lot of other homes need to learn from this home.

I gave up after a minute and a half. Why are people STILL muzzled?! Everybody knows by now they don't block aerosols. So in addition to being stuck in these hellish homes, these poor people have to be further tormented by not seeing FACES. No smiles, no normal human interaction, nothing. When is hit hell going to STOP?!

The hot/cold cart.... Good invention. It's good to be flexible with patients. I'm sure this will improve things. Health-care workers need to self care because of the burn out rate.

The ratio is not good, 1:8 should be 1: 5 on days and evenings and 1 to 26 on night shift should be 1 to 13. I’ve been working in Long Term Care for 23 years and the care is getting more complex and heavier but the ratio of staff to residents has stayed the same. These homes are institutions and the care is like an assembly line. When there is appropriate number of psw’s like the 4 hours of care then we will see residents living better but in the mean time it is a crisis and our elderly are suffering!

I'm RPN this the way it should be. SOME TIMES 36 PT'S at a time in the evening for aides. I help as much as possible. But I had mine own job. You never ask anyone to do something that you are not willing to do. That's how I worked the PT'S are #1.

Paul Calandra. OMG. There is no way those clients are getting anything close to two hours a day let alone four unless you dramatically increase staffing. Supporting families who are willing and able to care for a family member in their home might cut some costs. In the mean time it's nice to see something happening. I wonder how other countries do this better? Look at Denmark.

Cross immunity for a few weeks, so we would have to be exposed to common cold every month or so to have protection against Covid 19🤦‍♀️ Does Sinovac have any similar known side effects to the MNRA ones?

The minister of long term care said the long term care home is a "funner" place to be?! Come on - he instantly loses credibility with that poor grammar. This government's track record in long term care is appalling.

Plus I've been on cannabis for 8 years and its done wonders for my disease that's killing my body too. I was a hospice nurse so I've worked with a lot of SOULS with terminal and end stages of life I've used the same training in my own life to prolong my independence because I think in life you should always be able to keep your Independence no matter what happens to you physically. I am a real estate investor I am interested in building a barendomian sanctuary a place that you can buy a piece and pain free even if it means you get a Little Help from God. I live in Michigan REC STATE now but seems like out west advocates for eggplant that might give you years on your life just because it's relaxing your body from your disease. My father died in his thirties crippled by his disease multiple sclerosis. I have not lived his life because I use my science degree mixed with my medical degree to communicate with my body. I have CRPS type 2 full body for a decade because the car accident. Took me years but through Rehabilitation I walk on my heels still. However, I watched this disease attack my organs because flareups in the central nervous system that attacks my lymphatic system. The cannabis keep the body home that way my body stays at rest. When your body stays at rest your heart can pump the hardest. This house was keeping the circulation going. Therefore preventing heart attacks if you're heart can stay calm
