All those old machines came from England when its old pre- and post-war manufacturing shops closed down. 60 -100 years old. Still doing what they were built for. 👏👍

If he has always worked with worn out machinery he absolutly does not know about tolerances.And you can see what type of work he is doing.The other machinist is just using an out side caliper.😮

I suspect the engineers who made the lathe would cry and turn in their graves to see the butchery it now performs and the condition of it now. Why no cover over the gearbox,all the s&#t in creation will get in there, let alone clothing and fingers. It never ceases to amaze me how tight chucks and steadies are tightened up, only necessary if the items are worn out or the person doing the tightening has no mechanical understanding or sympathy. Other than that, gets the job done, but not an engineer or machinist.

I worked as a beginner welder and machinist thru college but I knew I wasn’t an engineer until I got the diploma. A lotta smart people never make it thru college.

Is a cnc machine really that hard to come by? Its all about making the tools that make the tools is were true machining really lays. This old machinist likely gets padded pennies to do this job and that's why he's still there and not asking for a raise. Old machinist doesn't always mean best machinist he's just a good worker. Also he doesn't need to use his foot if he had a proper feed rate on the feed screw.

The whole tailstock column has been moved back to accommodate larger gears, but when doing the pinion gears they've mounted that stupid extension to make up for amount it's moved back. The cutting oil looks old engine oil and they are doing these gears in one cut. These people are first class clowns.

@stevo184. What gives you the right to call these people “first class clowns” you no doubt live in a Ist. world country and really have no idea or care for how the rest of the world lives and provides for their children. Why don’t you do some volunteer work in a poorer country.
