The kid still saying "sir" despite him being a dick and yelling at him and his friends, is a huge indicator of how well those parents are doing with their kids. Kudos to them for still being respectful even though they had every right to be pissed.
I grew up in the HIghlands of Scotland where there are no trespass laws. Whenever my friends and I used to fish on other people's land as kids, the old folks would come out with cakes and scones for us and sit with us, talking about fishing and just being really awesome and nice. It's sad the world is changing so much.
yeah it's quite similar here in Ireland, even for private properties especially in the countryside such as farmlands or someone with a lot of acres of land, they are chill with you cutting through it or walking your dogs there as long as you aren't causing problems, a lot of the time they are the best walking spots or near the sea and good fishing spots...I slept on a farmers land once next to his cow field to be there early in the morning for the tide, had a little fire going and all and he didn't come raging at us,you would often catch your fish and have a little disposable bbq and make a day and night of it and head home in the morning...
Had something like this happen to me. Our neighbor who we are very close to often asks us to pick excess lemons from her tree since most of them spoil. The neighbors two houses down calls the cops on me and my friend saying we were breaking and entering, luckily when the cops came we were able to explain the situation and told them if they wanted extra proof we would call the homeowner. That neighbor called a second time saying our 12 pound maltipoo was being aggressive and also called the cops again. Little guy doesn’t even like to get out of the house let alone fight anyone. Joyless people
When my grandfather died we were cleaning out the house. I took cuttings from his beautiful rose garden so I could grow some of his roses as a reminder of him after the house sold. The neighbour watched us like a hawk the whole time and had mf binoculars and a notepad. That neighbour did even go visit him for the months he was in palatine care. She just wanted neighborhood gossip or even better…to call the police. 🤦♀️
I genuinely dont get people like this. Like ok, i get wanting to be safe and all- but to call the cops on ANYONE for taking some lemons off of a lemon tree THAT ISNT YOUR FUCKING TREE is insane.
Far far worse. Some have even managed to put liens on houses because someone didn’t mow their lawn properly. I wish they were like immature hall monitors. Then they wouldn’t cause potentially irreparable damage to someone’s livelihood over the most ridiculous bs their crooked minds can think of.
Don’t move into an hoa if you hate them so much The entire point of an hoa is that it’s far more expensive than a normal home so don’t say you don’t have a choice
HOA's are a joke. Like some Karen is gonna come tell me what I can and can't do to my own house. Get the fuck out of here! If i wanna put a 15 foot statue of a moose making balloon animals for rabbits in my front yard that is my right!

Was it really private property? Plenty of instances where upset people think the entire neighbourhood and five miles around it belongs to them just because they live in it.
Its pretty normal for an HOA to own and maintain water features adjacent to homes. I'm not excusing him being a dick, but it is pretty normal for an HOA to own the lake/water front.
I live in an HOA neighborhood and got the cops called by some grumpy ass man for that exact reason for fishing at least 1000ft from his backyard. I was 9-10 years old too.
I had a discussion at one point in my driveway when I told some teens to go smoke elsewhere, they kept going on how it was a 'public space', which I just so happened to be paying for. My feelings went out to the teachers who had to deal with tiktok debatekids every day. Yeah this guy comes off as an ass, but what happened before the vid, and if it's his waterhole then surely so many kids arent known for not giving a shit, twisting editing content to go one way. This video could go both ways and I'm surprised Charlie doesn't entertain that idea but instead takes the one way bait
I did an Eagle Scout project where I repainted fire hydrants. At one apartment complex, a woman came and got pissed at me for doing it, and then called the fire Marshall to confirm I had permission to do it (I did, he gave me the map to know which ones to paint). People just want to be mad at something.
One of the streets fire hydrants is in front of our house. My brother was purposely annoying my dad. So he sent him out with a small metal brush and had him get all the loose paint off. Clean it with soapy water in a bucket he had to lug down and then dry it and paint it. Our street wasn’t populated much back then. The hydrant at the end of the street used to be used by the fire department to do something with their trucks. They would hook up and spray into the retention pond late at night.

it's part of the decline of the third place. Young people can't go out anywhere without some miserable old fart breathing down their neck for some made up rules.
I've had this happen, found a couple of young lads fishing in a private lake on my property. I had no issue with it, just let them know that in future if they wanted to throw a line in, just let me know so i could make sure that i didn't lock the gate and they could leave when they wanted. They even asked if it would be OK to camp and swim as well. They were good kids and always left the area rubbish free.
That's because you're a decent human being who has no issues with kids having a wholesome time. Kudos to them for always leaving it as pristine as they found it. They obviously don't want to wear out their welcome. Well done mate.

Its so funny how most people don't understand that you don't have to lay your hands on someone for it to be assault. Verbal assault exists and actually touching someone in most cases ends up being a battery charge.
Acting sheepish for being caught doing something you're not supposed to do is not "mature". Maturely handling this situation would be to, hmm, idk, NOT commit a crime in the first place.
@@ahall9839 They didn't though, it's legal to fish that lake. The private property is near the lakeside, but the lake and surrounding park is open to the public. Yeah, I did play outside a lot as a kid to the point I'd only come home to eat and sleep. There were quite a few adults however who always for some reason felt like the owned certain things that weren't even on their property and were instead on public property. One lady for example thought she owned the entire cement bike path in a field which literally continued for 20 blocks alongside transmission towers. Unless she literally owned those transmission towers, I doubt she owned any of that massive field which also had government trucks that would drive down the bike path in order to do occasional repairs on the transmission towers. It was clearly not her property and was government property made specifically for having those transmission towers along with the bike path so they could drive down it to make the occasional repairs, and yet she insisted that kids shouldn't be playing there because she owned all of it.
Just about everywhere one goes is 'private' property nowadays lol, especially when your living in a suburb or something. So its kinda tough for kids to play outside anymore unless they live in the countryside or have parents that actively take them to parks or something lol. Rough times, I remember playing in the woods until near dark as a kid nowadays tho most the land is owned by someone.

She would come out with a camera and start taking pictures and telling everyone she was gonna give the photos to the cops to show just how bad we were. She was crazy. We were never doing anything bad. Just playing games on the street or throwing water balloons at each other but she hated it.
Yeah dude. I forgot about random angry old ladies. Every neighborhood use to have one. Just watching through the blinds all day, acting like playing freeze tag is the most degenerate subhuman activity known to man.
yeah but back in those days, you could tell your dad and he's come out and smash the crap out of them. Now all the cameras and crappy laws you're not allowed to have a fight without spending 3 months in jail.
In the 80s? She took actual photos? That she would have to get developed? Or even creepier a polaroid 😂 sounds hard to believe but if that happened thats worse than now with phones.
This situation has polar opposite energy as the elderly people in my neighborhood stealing my homemade lawn decorations, taking food from my garden, and picking all (and I mean all, the bush was completely barren once they left) the roses off the bushes in my front yard WHILE MY MOTHER IS WATCHING AND ASKING THEM TO SAVE THE FLOWERS FOR ME BECAUSE I USE THEM. The same entitlement they claim children have these days is actually their own entitlement and it's shocking how unaware they are of it.
This reminds me of when i was a kid, Old Mr Lee hated us kids playing in the public park area behind his house. My friends and I set up an awesome rope swing in a tall tree that was used by everyone. It was an absolute winner with every kid and their parents. Mr Lee hated it and hated us. He got his son to climb that tall tree and cut the branch down. The tree was not allowed to be damaged as it was a protected area. They didn't care.

Damn that poor kids face when he breaks his rod… that genuinely pretty sad. That rod has gotta be one of that kids most prized possessions. @@Anthracite_coal It wasn't. The police said so when they arrived. That dude will probably be charged with battery of a minor and damage to private property. There was a study published on long term lead exposure linked to cognitive decline for people born before 1980 that I am starting to believe more and more each day.

When I was 18 around 8 years ago i literally got escorted out of a mall because my friends and I were tired from being out all day on our feet and the only bench we could find was in the play area (which was empty because it was around 9pm). We even made sure to read and follow all the rules of the play area despite nobody else being there and we were escorted out and banned from the mall for "disrespecting the property." 4:37 No, he doesn't think the police showing up will be on his side, which is why he's desperately trying to intimidate the kids into leaving and constantly threatening to throw their phones in the lake to destroy the evidence of his assault. I'd bet hard cash that he knows that the second the police arrive and the kids show them their recording, their criminal trespass will be DWARFED by his assault of a minor, and he'll more than likely be arrested. Which is why he's flailing his arms, getting in their faces, and acting all big and bad in an attempt to scare them off BEFORE the police arrive. You know - like an inept coward who likes to seem bigger and badder than he actually is.
Yes this! The same reason he is about to cry. He is scared because his threats didn't work and the police are actually coming now and he took it way too far. I bet this is the 1000th time he's done this and the 1st time someone stood their ground. Seems like he gets his "gang" to come watch him be a big man and was embarrassed when he saw them slowly start to leave one by one because they too realized they didn't want to be around when the cops showed up.
Gosh if I’m ever a homeowner a) with the privilege of a creek on my property and b) have the delight of seeing some well meaning kids making awesome outdoor memories in my creek, I’d be honored. Hell I’d probably offer them some lemonade
Had a similar thing happen when I was a kid. There was a pond at the end of a field near my parent's house with no fence surrounding the property. Where the pond was located you could only see the top of a couple houses. I fished there quite a bit before meeting the owner one day. He asked if I caught anything which I hadn't when he showed up. He said I don't mind you fishing, but just be careful when I'm there.
I absolutely agree with the sentiment, and I grew up in an area that to those day no one would care if someone was fishing. Having said that, I understand people not wanting minors fishing on their property in modern litigious society. All it takes is crappy parents getting upset their kid drowned or was injured on property they weren’t supposed to be on to ruin someone else’s life. It’s a two way street. Plenty of people getting their life wrecked because they were nice
People pull into driveways all the time in order to turn around when they go the wrong way or miss the house they meant to go to, so that is terrifying to know you could die over a simple mistake
America is so weird. You go into a poor neighborhood in a city and you could get robbed. You drive into some guys driveway on accident and you could get your car riddled with bullets. Like there was a story last year of a guy shooting a 13 year old in the head because the 13 year old thought that was one of his new friend's house. No wonder everybody is so paranoid man, you arent safe anywhere.
There's a large amount of people that look for any excuse to use a gun to shoot people. They want to kill someone but they don't outright say it. Some cops, gang members and just people with a bit of a manhood issue are all up there. I'm not even against owning guns but they shouldn't be owned by everyone. There's a lot of shootings over complete misunderstandings that should have never even gotten a gun drawn, let alone fired. They can be good for hunting and sport and there are definitely situations like people actively breaking down your door, car door etc that can warrant a gun. I almost got shot myself from an old redneck tweaker that thought I was "scoping" out his tweaker house to rob. I was actually walking on the street while very drunk at night and walking home. I stopped when he was backing as there's a 0% chance he saw me while reversing. He did when he pulled out fully and that's when he initiated the confrontation looking for every excuse to shoot me. Dude even pulled that I was faking being drunk. Even when I walked away after he was still threatening me, he proceeded to follow me home at about 5 mph with his high beams on. He called the cops and they just told me to go to bed as I was clearly extremely drunk. I couldn't press charges for being followed home after being threatened as I was "too drunk" at the time.

I was scared of it escalating so I drove away immediately. I understand his worry, but it definitely made me realize that not everyone would be nice enough to warn me first.
This just reinforces the sense of alienation of growing up in american suburbs. Everywhere seems hostile, you're not welcome anywhere but on your own lawn, everyone's a stranger, and you can't just "go out and play" without driving out to some place in the city where socializing is socially acceptable.
People, especially people of that age nowadays are deliberately looking for drama if not violence. Hope the old dude gets punished accordingly. And their HOA gets investigated. If he's this unhinged, I suspect he's probably a typical HOA crook
Sadly, HOA's are usually not regulated by anyone or anything. John Oliver did a piece about them years ago but it mostly boiled down to them being little fiedoms that are damn near above the law. I would never want to live in one, because they're unforgiving of being human. Like a grandmother who lived in a home with an HOA that didn't allow children. Her teenaged grandson needed to come live with her as either his parents had died or were unable to care for him anymore. They threatened to kick the woman out of the neighborhood (yes, she would've had to sell her home!) just because her grandson lived with her. Shit can happen outside of anyone's control. Now this child that's already been upended has to either be put with different family, if he has any, or have the guilt on his shoulders of being the reason his grandmother lost her home. Absolutely heartless.

Edit: As elaborated upon by Francisco Perez, it's harmful to the local ecosystem. It's also theft, particularly if the owner was leaving those fish to spawn for their own fishing purposes.
"A pretty big issue when people steal fish from the pond"....? Is Bubba Gump Shrimp coming to your campus pond on a 50 ft fishing boat and taking all your fish to the market...? You keep saving this fish buddy...
@@IIIlIIIllIl Some people pay money to stock their pond with fish so that they can go fish and have fun. Even if a pond in question has not been stocked, and does naturally have fish, it is theft to fish from a pond on private property. On top of that, if someone (such as a child) drowns in a pond on your land YOU can be held liable for it. That kids parents CAN sue you for the death of their child. Stay away from bodies of water that do not belong to you and are not on public land. That said, NEVER fucking act like the disgraceful idiot of a "man" in this video. You politely ask the trespasser to leave, and if they refuse, keep an eye on them and call the police.
and then your father wqould probably end up in prison because that's still assault, and you should just let the police handle things instead of resorting to violence
I think young adults underestimated how childish elders can be. What goes comes back around, above 50 and the properties of a toddler came back to them. The only problem is that elders have "experience", so dealing with them becomes ten times more difficult than handling toddlers.
I mean, we certainly reach that "pissing in your pants" thing again. Maybe wifey can go change his diaper and they can both leave the kids alone. He was really about to go ham on these kids. Dude, stop. We're at that age where we hurt ourselves sleeping.
I work for AAA. I pulled into a wrong driveway once. The homeowner flipped out and I showed him that I had his address and that it was an honest mistake. He cooled off pretty quick but it’s sad how easily people flip their lid nowadays
One time my mom was driving with me I was 7 and we made a wrong turn and pulled into someone’s driveway to turn around (the house was on the main road and no car in drive way) and this lady came out of the house screaming and starting to shoot at the car. It was horrifying. I never in my life would have thought that would have happened for the dumbest thing. Luckily nothing happened but I still remember the street and never turn around in someone’s driveway when they don’t seem to be home even if it’s super inconvenient. Another time I was at a store and I put a pillow on my head. Idky I was like 5 but an employee started screaming at me because I was “going to break it” ??? A pillow??? I’ve never understood how people can be so miserable
I was hoping Charlie wouldn’t mention that story but shit, it’s another albeit tragic example of how the older generation can be as unhinged as the newer ones, I’m sorry that happened to you and your mom but at least you’re still here, wish that girl had your luck.
Not nearly as bad, but one time when I was like 10 I picked a stray tulip (in summer so not like I was destroying a new sprout) in my neighbor's yard and he screamed at me to put it back??? Literally don't know what he expected but I just set it down on the ground, I was with my mom too so not like some lone kid💀
@@Bfkcjscbsnjc I’ll say this, he’s had some shit takes, honestly i guess most of what he says is very milktoast, just like the most generic what you expect to hear about a situation or game or whatever from him.
@@dollinterrupted Usually people in the US don't mind seeing a car pull in if it looks like they're just making a turn. It's only if the strange vehicle stays in the driveway that we start to get anxious.
We got rid of the bots! Yippee! Edit: we didn't actually get rid of the bots... I thought we did but we didn't... They just disappeared temporarily when I reported them
My brother got a ticket once for playing on a playground in a neighborhood where they “didn’t recognize him” and he “wasn’t allowed”. He was maybe 13-14 playing with his friends who live in the neighborhood. He’s the only one who got in trouble to that extent and he was the only one who wasn’t white.
@@alexbrinzan9061 In what way is that relevant here? I'm not saying you're wrong but this is one of those "who asked?" moments. The only *non-white* person getting in trouble demonstrates that you can be racist to white people....how exactly? Did you misread their comment as "He’s the only one who got in trouble to that extent and he was the only one who *was* white" by mistake?
I’m definitely not on the old man’s side here, but he’s clearly bothered by smth. And then seeing someone in your yard doing stuff you’d want to be doing with your loved ones, just makes smth pop in your head. Again not justifying, but the way he literally started crying over them just unbothered minding their business is tough man. I wish him well to be honest. He’s not self-reflective enough to see he’s clearly bothered by an event that’s stinging his consiousness
