THIS OLD NISSAN MICRA SURPRISED ME (UK AUCTION) 

My wife had a Nissan Micra K12 like that one from brand new for 13 years. It never missed a beat. Fantastic car. I persuaded her to trade it in for something newer and she had nothing but trouble with the new car (Fiat 500L). Every time we see a little K12 on the road she hits my arm and tells me she should have never listened to me!!

We have 2 of these K12 Micra's in the family that I look after and they are incredibly reliable and still really clean underneath even at nearly 20 years old and 100k miles. When they do need something, bits are dirt cheap and nice and simple to work on. For cheap, reliable transport they are hard to beat

Don't get me wrong, it was a great looking little car with great low mileage, but I still, couldn't have paid £2k for a 17/18 yr old Micra and felt good about it.

I bought a 56 plate with 24k for 1500£ nearly 3 years ago which had full main dealer history garaged all its life and wax oiled everywhere underneath. It now on 44k and still drives superb 👌 and it looks brandnew underneath 😀

I run around in a 2003 Micra auto on 40k. Owned it for 7 years, and can honestly say that I'll probably never sell it. Love it to bits.

Nissan Micra is a great choice for people who need a car but don't care about cars

A good clean car, but expensive for a dealer but not for a private buyer.

These Cars were particularly great for older people with great visibility I think they're one of the best designs from the mid 00s .

It was really strong money for a dealer to pay but it did have full service history as well. If all you had to do was stick a ticket on and get it out the door there is a decent profit. But it might have been a private buyer coming straight in at 1800 when the ask was 1700.

I'd of paid £1,800 and passed it on to my teenage daughter or son - what else could you get them with that kind of money, miles, running costs and reliability? nothing.

Unfortunately at auction atm there's not much under a grand, I got the cheapest micra available last week, 575 bid, that's 750 with fees and that has front bumper damage and gaffa tape on the fuel filler, I knew it would make a car tho, especially with 60 k on, that's the cheapest these days, a lot of people prefer old low miles as it'll probably be trouble free motoring, you can easily spend 1000s on something later with nasty problems, micra was a wise, if boring buy.

Had a few k11's, one 1.0l had 172k miles on the clock and started on the button every time. It went to scrap in the end because the chassis was predominantly rust.

What else can you buy for £2k these days. It's either something 10 years old with 100k on the clock or the Micra. Take your pick.

I’ve just sold a 2010 with a 120 thousand miles for £1000 with full service and got a 09 in part ex for free 👌

I think people pay way too much attention to what's the mileage. My mate bought a 15 year old Metro that had 26k miles on it back in 2002. Despite the low miles, it was a rust bucket and constantly going wrong. OK, the Micra is a better car but it's still 18 years old. Things will go wrong with it. It probably has some rust underneath. It's probably not been serviced every year...which is a necessity no matter the mileage. Miles isn't necessarily indicative of condition. Look at the garage queen Ferrari's, Aston's, Lambo's that have fewer than 10k miles but have constant little niggles. It's all age related. Regular servicing is way more important.

Nissan has good reputation for reliability. Sounds like that one has been a “two-elderly driver” car with such low mileage for its age.

Clean low mileage cars that need little prep will always make good money in auction even in the 2008 crash that was the case, it was only ever the lumpy high end cars that suffered....

Before I even watch the video or see the comments I bet it sold well. Iv been seeing these Japanese small litre cars just on the up and up ⬆️ over the last 12 months

There’s always someone when the miles are that low happy to pay mega retail We recently saw £5000 back on a 2006 fiesta auto with 15k miles

I’d have that for myself. In the light of day now this will be a fab car for someone maybe not a dealer

I've got a 62k one up atm bud, not many calls at 1095, full history, full advisory free test, 1800 quid is OK tbh, I'd be 2895 it at that miles. Never had many probs with micras, one or 2 clutches and a bad fuel pump, oh fault on ing switch, put a separate starter push button on (!) tbh your better paying high for older megga low miles that late high milers, I had a 19 plate c3 with 104k on, couldn't sell it, took 4k,seems daft that an 06 micra is not far off it, ones a neighbour impressor, others seen as a scrapper, if that micra had been a low miles auto it'd been 4k.

It should last for 5 years no prob great little car

Looked nice, and hopefully, decent profit in it if not a lot of work is needed. If it was me and I was selling cars, I would have probably had a bid on it

Honestly we purchase a well looked after a micra 160sr for our kids first car . Ifor 1150 . And it has been so reliable he's still has it 4 years later

Ideal stock, no prep to do, sell itself, no comebacks, happy punters, they soon forget the price on a cheap car when things go wrong, I bet its up at 2995 on a pitch now, car of the week!

Still money to spend on it the cam belt will need doing (if it hasnt been done) due to age. Probably the clutch if it is manual. little old ladys tend to leave there foot on the peddle.

People commenting on here that it’s a 2006? Where I live it’s really common to see 2000 yr + cars and 54 seems very common. I have an 18 yr old berlingo and there’s not a spec of rust on top and still excellent underneath. Done 130k - petrol same clutch . Wondering about torsion bar as I will have to pay to get that done but I would get in and drive anywhere in it. The trouble is to change the leap is ooo’s if not 10000’s. £

My Nizzan Essenza convertible sold part exchange to BMW for £500. Had baby blue suede and leather seats-immaculate. Was not a reliable car and felt like I was Driving half a car. Boot was great and the upholstery luxurious. Would not buy at that price knowing it is not reliable.

Its worth whatever people are prepared to pay. Seems more than a little high to me though.

Shopping Trolley cars especially autos now are a wise mans choice for an A to B motor, Honda Jazz 1.3 auto around 2004-2008 are like Gold these days. 😎

I suppose someone elderly who has had theirs written off for a minor scrape looking for a decent like for like replacement, it probably is a very decent buy for them. Same goes for someone looking for their first car.

I have the same car 57 plate Micra limited edition Spirita.Same colour 75K miles paid £1,000 for it 2 and half years ago.

In 2009 we bought a 2006 Mondeo Zetec 130tdci Estate with 102000 miles on the clock for £3100 from Mannhiem Leeds , we got a further 120000 out of it ........if that Micra is booking at £3k 15 years later that is nuts .

Too much, a big risk as well, renowned airflow sensor failure weakness and its a £400 part to replace as its integrated in the throttle body, you get that home and it starts wobbling, its a big bill time.

This is the kind of car you eventually drive to the scrap yard. Bomb proof. Probably worth £300 scrap, so really not much of a gamble.

I would be concerned about lots of short urban journeys where the mechanicals do not get warmed up apart from a fried clutch. But I guess if there are few bodywork marks, the MoT history is good then the running costs would justify a reasonable price.

They go mad for low milers, I got a good price the other day for a 50k really old fiesta, 51 plate, full ford history, one owner.

Interesting. Looked at one of these locally but having no knowledge did some online research and found they can throw expensive electrical and other problems at you. Not common allegedly but not rare. Anyone any experience or have I just read the wrong things as usual?

Someone obviously likes the micra. £2k for a 32000 mile car is cheap. Not cheap for the age, but mileage wise with full history.

Depends if it was a private buyer online, could have been? but as a dealer of nearly 40yrs I wouldn't have given that for it, its an 06 car basic spec car regardless of mileage, at £2,995 you might have £900 in it before tax and VAT, not looking value and at that age it could still be a potential for the dreaded electric power steering faults, so for me, No not worth it ...... but each to their own.

Ideal car for uber eats or deliveroo etc easy to park in terraced streets etc or on shor driveway etc

well Lee, I wouldn't have bought it but the clue why is in my name lol. is it worth the money? gosh, thats a big ask. it must be a Euro 4 petrol so ULEZ etc etc compliant, its kinda cute, very economical, maybe borderline collectable now, well packaged car, spares everywhere, a way better buy than a secondhand EV - probably a really good purchase if the buyer was general public and for a trader in the right market it might make a fair profit selling retail. but what about the MOT and the rust underneath?

If the bidder bought it for themselves then fine but I doubt you'd get a good enough retail value on that to make a profit.

With these cars it's all about what you can't see without putting on a ramp,could be rotten as a peach,so mileage would be useless.

i think worth every penny not much to go wrong compared to modern rubbish! ive got afiesta 1.3 r reg 39k absolutely mint 1 owner and bought it few months ago for son for £560 on ebay with 34k on clock! ive stuck it in barn and got him another car as was clocking up the miles lol. old low milers for me anyday lee

Sold an 09 that had 20 odd K to webuy they gave 4k for it. To be honest it was rather rusty underneath (coastal car) was very surprised. But that was a year or so ago when the prices went mad.

Prices are mad on small cars.... I recently traded an 8yr old Jazz (mint, FSH, 45k) in for 7k... Sold a fortnight later at 9k 😮

Cheap... as it can still be fixed ( i am in the trade ) and nothing there to bite you, will do another 100k hopefully, with a few oil changes and the odd coil pencil. park it anywhere, cheap insurance and good on fuel.... whats not to like.

The guy may have bought it for a friend or family member. With fees probably not worth it for you trade unless you have a buyer who you trust

No way was that worth £1800 plus costs. 2006 is as you say almost 20 years old, to me should be around £1200! Appreciate retails saying £3700 because of mileage but thats way to high, to be honest I would say £2495 retail, but there is no margin for error. At £2495 less £2000 costs gives a profit of £495 take off your VAT £100 and you are down to £395 and this does not include your time at the auction and cost of bringing car from auction to your sales pitch. Margins seem to tight. People still asking crazy prices. I own a puegeot 107,61 plate. Bought it in 2016, september with 28200 miles, one owner and paid just £3200. Never had any fault, now got 79000 miles and still on original clutch! Find it absolutely ridiculous that since covid, prices have just sky rocketed. Just before covid, I wanted to buy a new car 2014 puegeot 107, 4000 miles on the clock and was advertised for £3900 in inverness. Didn't get to see it as the otherhalf complained saying manchester to inverness is too far, well guess what after covid these cars jumped up £2K to £6K, coming down again but crikey its absolutely crazy.
