Marcelito impersonated singers he heard on the radio. His mother left when he was very young and his father was sent to prison after that. Marcelito lived at the prison with his father until a guard took him home to live with his family. This family was neglectful/abusive and Marcelito walked away at seven years old to live on the streets. He sang to himself for comfort, singing songs he'd heard. He was in grade 2 when he became homeless and his education ended there. He didn't discover that he could sing in a deeper male tone until he was 18. He won a singing competition, in his early 20's, which allowed him to return to school, get voice training, buy a house, get married, and now is a father. His life was as startling as his singing when I read about him. He was interviewed on Ellen in the US and that video is on RU-vid. Thank you for your reaction as always.

He is from the Philippine's and does not speak English well, but he is singing in English and also Italian....and he is singing in the not only the language but the dialect of Celine (Canadian English) and Andrea's Italian. And doing it all while he is sitting down...losing 30% to 40% of the abilities in his diaphragm. Beyond unbelievable...one of the most astonishing videos I have ever seen on You Tube.

Unlike other singers he has no professional training. He is the worlds greatest voice impersonator. Rather it be Sarah Brighton, Miley Cyrus, Michael Jackson....He’s trained himself since he was three years old. That probably contributed to his being so talented without ““ classic training “ telling him what to do and how to do it.He alone knows his instrument & what do with it . Even when sitting down which restricts a 30% to 50% of your diaphragm he’s learned how to develop the greatest breath control. There really is no comparison with other singers of today.Dimash Has a terrific voice. Raised in luxury by two famous opera singers. Trained from birth. Pomoy Born to poverty. Abandoned at two. Stayed with his father in jail for a little while and then adopted by a guard .Didn’t go well & ended with up living as street as a child. Check out his imitation of Josh Groban. He also speaks several languages and sings perfect dialect in many languages.Lots of people can sing it to voices they just don’t compare to him. He has the ability to change each voice. It’s not the range that’s impressive.

That was an impressive performance by Marcelito. He switches octaves, goes from head to chest voice, female to male, pop to opera, and English to Italian (neither of which is his native tongue). A great, honest reaction to a one person duet. Two voices, two languages (neither of which is his first language), presented seemingly effortlessly, while sitting down. What a phenomenon. Charlie, I have a suggestion for another artist who I think will amaze you in a different way than Marcelito has. Aurora (Aksnes), a young Norwegian with an incredible voice, enchanting performance style and self penned lyrics (from age 9) dealing with a range of important issues that are filled with astounding wisdom for one so young. A good introduction is from the Nobel Peace Prize concert of 2015, "Runaway" (Aurora was 19 at the time of the concert and she wrote the song when she was 11). If you find her to be talented, her concerts in 2017 at the Nidarosdomen (Trondheim Cathedral) and the 2019 HAIK concert (filmed for Norwegian TV in the forest where Aurora played as a child) are thoroughly enchanting.

Hi Charlie, from Medford, Oregon. I don’t know if you know Marcelito Pomony’s back story but let me tell you a few things. He grew up on the streets of the Philippines. His Dad was in prison & his Mom lost him at a VERY early age in the street markets. He tried his whole young life to find her. He was very scared being by himself on the streets so he sang a lot. You know in that country there are AMAZING singers because more people than not have karaoke machines,even the poor. It has become a culture that sings where ever they go, just walking down the street even. The other thing is that Celine Dion is like a goddess to them. So he started with her songs. His voice changed a little late but he discovered that when it did he still had muscle memory & began to mix them. He saw one of the big world wide phenomena of singing competition shows & thought maybe someone who watched might know his family. That was his main goal. His talent took him all the way to the final & fans found his family & they came including his dad! He won the show in 2011. Apparently he is the sweetest guy too. He just competed in the AGT World Champions show last year. He didn’t win because the Champion’ show did something different by having 1 vote in each state of America. Those 50 voters were called Super Fans. He definitely made it to the finals though & I think he came in 4th place. So many people think he was classically trained but not. On “The Prayer” he is singing in 2 languages English & Italian but Tagalog is his native language.

He has a super sense of humor. He has, of course, a beautiful voice of his own and has a great stage presence.
