It is not simple at all to get it connected...f.ex. I just tried and it took me 5 hours to get 20% of the knobs working, mostly the left side section, faders dont respond at all.... nor the job wheel,,, peculiar system! 😒

I know it's an entry level, compact device, but I would have at least expected another rotary knob for controlling the amount of signal that is sent to a fx / send effect channel. Only transport options and channel volume is not enough.

It seems to behave really strangely. Every time your press the select button on any track, it doesn’t select that track but instead it just moves to the next track. Also, towards the end you move the pan of the first track, but on logic the pan moves on one of the bottom tracks. That is really really confusing and not dope at all. What’s going on?

can you make the knobs cycle through multiple aux sends? only 1 knob, and might wanna control 3 aux sends per track separately... any way to make that 1 knob switch between the 3?

I think the biggest issue with most of these controllers is that they all do the same thing, but nobody makes a controller that is actually multipurpose. If you want to change volume, pan, arm recording, solo and mute; and transport controls; you have a ton of options; but if you are looking for something that is able to control most of the functionalities in your DAW, including VST parameters; then good luck with that. Tried 10 controllers so far, between surface controllers and midi keyboard controllers and not a single one is able to do most of the operation in the DAW I use (Studio One, but I use Logic too at times). There are always compromises; and I was hoping the nanokontrol studio would be the answer, considering that it offer 5 pages to save custom presets, but it all boil down to which DAW you use.

PreSonus fader 8? Literally can control entire daw with it.. They also have a free remotecontrol app that is really good. Unless you meant for 150 or less.. Nektar P1 is very good at 300.

Of course there are daw controllers who control everything in your daw. But you pay the price. Look at the Presonus Faderport.

Most flexible thing I've seen is the launchpad. Unfortunately it doesnt have knobs and faders but you can use its software to make vietual ones and customize your button layout.

Good comparison! Absolutely, love the form factor of both! Amazed that they are still at the same price, as they where when they first debuted .LOL. Does the cycle button on the nanokontrol 2 "mini" serve as the jog wheel that's on the studio?

Hello John Mike, I'm thinking of going to computer recording and my main thing is guitar and keys. I'm going to be in a different area of my studio to record guitars. Almost all the reviews I've read on this they say "I couldn't get the bluetooth to work, but they really like anyway cause it's good wired. Well that won't work for me. I'm thinking of going with Mixcraft for my daw, because all the rewiews I've read people say they like it better than ProTools for a fraction of the price. So how did you get the bluetooth to work? I can get the USB connection to work with Studio One 5 but not the bluetooth. The blue tooth connection does not show up in Studio One external devices. Has anyone got this working?

I just saw the studiologic mixface. I never really paid attention to these. The mixface looks like an easy upgrade into a midi controller for a portable keyboard.

The Mixface was almost really, really good. However, I canceled my order as soon as I learned that it didn’t have endless encoders. That was a HUGE oversight of theirs. And mine for not noticing before making the purchase. Lol

I got it about a month ago or so and it took me weeks to discover how to properly connect it to Ableton. I really wanted to use that jog wheel, there still are some features I wish it did have. I'm seeing I can't change MIDI channels, which I'd like to control some macro knobs like reverb or compression with a push of a button.

LOOKS SO NICE THAT IT works with Your system, looks too good,.... bought the N-K-Studio but there is no info how to assing the channels and knobs and how to make it work in GB or Studio One. Don´t even say what programme you work on here...or did you mention Logic somewhere. I have severo problems to f.... my n-k-studio to StudioOne4 or GB (to what it does not log in at all). There is no review how to switch the knobs to DAW, but it is not on your responsibility I know.

for some reasons this won't work on Windows 10. Tried to install the drivers 3 times, removed them and installed them again, no luck. Cubase wont see it, Studio one won't see it. Device manager see it , the Korg driver utility see it; but there is no midi going on, in any DAW nor in midi-ox. Going to return this while I still can, maybe works great with OSX or iOS, but on windows it is just a pain.

Can u use the studio to control different apps in your i pad for live performance say; you have your favorite 8 ( or more ) apps ( Piano, EP's organ , strings , synths etc, etc ) and be able to switch between them even layer them on the fly without having to go thru each app ( via midi learn ?? ) out of the box or do u need another app such as audiobus or AUM to be able to do this ???

I wouldn’t say $100 better ha ha...but they are a little bigger and more spaced out....I think the bigger sale for this is the Bluetooth capability

Do you have ANY videos on the nanokontrol with iPad, or entry GarageBand. I’ve been searching for MONTHS and I can get it connected however it won’t actually cycle or have controls on each scene. Even with windows and ableton. Off of your videos I’ll give it a seven, off of the rest of the videos, the instructions, the customer service with Korg, and my own use, I’ll give it a two. 👀 Please upload the other videos with other software daws

Can you control VST with this? Looks great for DAW controls as mackie general control but would be great if you can switch it to be used as physical controller for VST instruments like synths.

Hi John, is it possible to assign the faders on the Korg NanoKontrol Studio to control VST parameters like expression and vibrato? I wanted to be able to do that with my Nektar LX+ controller but I think the faders are read only.

If you are using it in an app like Mainstage or Ableton then you could do custom mapping...I’m sure you could do it in other DAWs as well it would just be some workarounds you would have to do...

@@Johnmike Thanks for responding. I get a lot out of your videos. I'm looking for something, faders, to control string library parameters in logic. CC 1, 2, 11, and 64 in real time while I am recording the parts. From what I read on the Korg website last night I can assign any CC number to any knob or fader. So it looks like it would work as would the nanoKontrol2.They are having some issues currently with Catalina and the NanoKontrol and I would not be able to use the editor or Bluetooth. So I'll keep my eye out to see if they fix it soon.

I had a wrong order! Once i found the newest driver and got the cotrol software plus some midicontrol app, it sudenkuoppia just surrendered to me and works nice now with Logic!🙄🥱😇😄

Sorry I just re-read this...I read that wrong...it has two modes...a usb mode and a Bluetooth mode...you can’t use both at the same time

John Mike thanks! Same functionality as the korg microkey air. I was surprised i couldnt use both connections at the same time. It would be convenient for certain setups... at least it would allow to power the device externally without the need of a usb connection to the ipad or using batteries...

Well John, I hate to disagree as I really like your videos, but this was a total waste of time for me. It's a nice size and looks good. The bluetooth appealed. I bought it and regretted it immediately. The software is awful. The instructions are awful. The connection is flakey and you need to go through some hoops every time you connect. It's really not for me. To conclude: it's pretty awful.

Actually korg nano kontrol was the worst chose ever done when buying midi controllers. For windows user this is just throwing money into bin. 1. All korg windows drivers are done for windows XP ? xD WTF , you need to reinstall uninstall other midi controllers and hope that korg instal in 1-10 midi slots , cuz if its midi slot 11-20 , oua re fucked and this device is not recognized. Probably IT students was doing the software and it's not updated anymore. I repeat , Any korg device not only this is using outdated drivers done for win XP!!!!!!!!!! 2. Forget about using anything other setup than premade, even after ages of setup if you are lucky enough to enter DAW with custom settings it's gonna fuck up next time.... 3. After you are lucky enough and your device is working USB port is very weak (4 weeks and it's not working anymore). so Bluetooth left. Oh it disconnect's from time to time and if you are doing something live .... you are fucked. I am not gonna sell my device coz I don't wanna other peoples loosing time and money for this. Maybe for Apple users it might work. I am putting that In the trash and going to buy push 2 . Cya

Bad Review. This thing is meant to control Kontakt also not only logic. Of course you can just to next track you just have to Programm the next track button in logic to next track. Are you really using this thing ? Sounds like a paid review.

this thing is crap. only works with a small amount of DAW's. Even then, not all the controls work. Wasted a lot of time trying to configure this, so unless you're making edm on Simpleton I wouldn't bother.

Ok sure...next video I’ll just be absolutely quiet and just show the product and point to stuff...then I’ll probably have someone say...”hey please talk more and do less”...then I’ll do a video where I talk a little more and then folks will say...”stop talking so much...” so 🤷🏾‍♂️...honestly in my many years of doing this I’ve learned it’s impossible to appease everybody...so I just do me...if I talk too much for someone...🤷🏾‍♂️....if i don’t talk enough for someone....🤷🏾‍♂️....either way I enjoy what I do
