This is too much! 💥 First reaction to Procol Harum - A whiter shade of pale live in Denmark ONE OF THE BEST SONGS I HAVE EVER HARD! ORIGINAL SONG • Procol Harum - A White...
This song is a true gem of rock history. When first released in 1967, of course without orchestra, it was a beautiful song from Procol Harum. This was a couple years after I graduated from high school, but I fondly remember it. I listen to it often. I found this on RU-vid several years ago and listen often. One of the most amazing songs ever writen. As mentioned before his voice has hardly changed as all. I can see you are enjoying it also. Thanks for bringing it back one more time. I'm sure the orchestra enjoyed playing it also.
@@natureandwhateversuitsmyli4411 The original version was released on their debut album, the first live version was released with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 1972, this version is with the Danish Symphony Orchestra in 2006
My favorite song of all time. The sound of that Hammond organ with full orchestral backing is just Devine. Thank you Sarah for not talking over it like many others do. Loved your comments and I'm glad it still has a magical effect on young people today as it did on me when I was young.
In my opinion, this is the best live performance of any song EVER. The original studio recording is a masterpiece but this particular live performance elevates it to another stratosphere. No other way to describe it.
If there has ever been a better live performance of a classic rock anthem I am not aware. Heart’s rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven was close. This one still takes it to another level. RIP Garry.
I wasn’t aware that he had passed I really love this song but I only like to hear one person play the organi think his name is Mathew but not sure I should by now the amount of times I v listen to it
@@alfredajacklin8568 Mathew Fisher is the original organ player and he is still considered one of the best Hammond Organ players in our time. Try the first four Procol Harum albums, "Procol Harum" "Shine On Brightly" " A Salty Dog" and "Home" Then you'll probably buying the rest. ❤️
Linda música grande interpreti! Marcou uma época e ficou para sempre quando estourou esse grande sucesso eu tinha 10 anos! Gary era lindo!!👍🏼😘🤩👏👏👏👏👏🙋🏻♀️
In 1967 I was on an all-expenses paid trip to S-E Asia, courtesy of Uncle Sam... this was played on the ship's speakers on the way there. Invoking memories.
I was 13 when this came out, I loved it then and I love it now. If you can fined the original version when it was made as a single you'll get a different feel for it, this was a way I didn't think of it being made, but it's was beautiful. Xx
Thank you for having the grace to 'listen' to this beautiful song before commenting on it. So many people who have made a live reaction video to this song, have consumately butchered it, by their repeated innane interruptions, as if the vacuum of their silence might cause their reality to implode. There is much truth in the expression, "empty vessels make the most noise". It is not an easy song to understand and everyone will have their own personal take on what it has come to mean for them. But at its heart it is a 'girl-leaves-boy' story.that possesses a majestically-rendered sorrow and tragedy, as portrayed in such devastating lines as, "And although my eyes were open, They might just as well have been close." RIP Gary Brooker. As you say, a masterpiece !!
A sad break-up song for sure. She is telling him that she is leaving but he won't listen to her and then... she is gone. Her face turns a whiter shade of pale as she brings to tell him (The Miller ) and her face turns a whiter shade of pale. As the Miller told his tale That her face, at first just ghostly, Turned a whiter shade of pale She said, 'There is no reason And the truth is plain to see.' ...But I wandered through my playing cards (he can't understand asking why) ...And although my eyes were open They might have just as well've been closed (She blindsided him with the news.) Beauty in the sadness brings us back to joy. -Me
Nice reaction. I am 65 years old and this version of this song has become my favorite song of all time. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes. We all read the emotion on your face. That was the power of this masterpiece.
This song is pure beauty, it’s been moving me to tears for 50+ years. This version is even more powerful than the original. Sometimes if and when the stars align it’s possible to create perfection. This performance was such a singular moment. I’m grateful for having been blessed with the experience. TY
this must be the best live performance ever , absolutely Beautiful, everything just falls in to place , the orchestra fits in and the choir both make it feel as though they belong to this masterpiece of a song how lucky are we that this beautiful performance took place before Gary passed away, i think he left us with the best ever version of this wonderful song RIP Gary Brooker , let the Angels enjoy ,
Real music performed by real artists is what this song is. A real performer will take you on a journey and bring you back. I am so glad you enjoyed the song it really is the best version of this song. I saw them live twice in the late 70s and the shows were awesome.
Gary Brooker, the Procol Harum front man who sang one of the 1960s' most enduring hits, “A Whiter Shade of Pale,” has died. He was 76. R.I.P Gary Brooker.
@@SarahDengler over the years we lose those who give us joy through stories, songs and laughter. But their voices, songs and books live on and their gifts to us never leave
Hey, Sarah! This song is still incredibly powerful after all these years. It was released in 1967, the year I graduated from high school. It has been one of my favorites ever since. The most amazing thing to me is how little Gary Brooker's voice has changed. At your leisure, find the original recording and compare it to this performance from 15 years ago. Still eagerly awaiting your reactions! You rock!
This is a fitting epitaph for Gary Brooker who died recently of cancer. I always thought it ironic that this beautiful, emotional music was pretty much the opposite of what was implied in Keith Reids brilliant lyrics! Thats probably why they were such a great band! I love your heartfelt reaction to this song, and have shed tears over it just like you for decades!
Thank you so much for reacting to this Sarah. It truly is a song that can bring out emotions. Although I've heard it many, many times it still gives me tingles and I never tire of both the original and this beautiful version. Cheers from Canada!
This is my favourite rendition of his song. His voice has just gotten better and his songs songs are timeless. Thanks for posting this, Sarah. Cheers from Canada 👍🥶😎🇨🇦🏹
I have loved this song since I was eight years old, and the love just grows stronger every year, your reaction to it moved me to tears, you are a lovely person xxx
I have listened to this iconic song many, many times through the years and since I found this live version some time ago I've listened to it even more. I get goosebumps every time and love watching people hearing it for the first time. Men and women alike usually have a strong reaction and some of the ladies are even brought to tears. I will continue to listen to Procol Harum's music especially this performance, I love it so much! ❤ 🎶
I was around when this song came out and for me, I never really understood the lyrics but the melody was just very soothing and this live version was better than the recording that came out as is most music for me. Live music is never the same and therefore more personal, but especially seeing it live. This is a classic.
A mere youngster at 61 when he gave this performance, his voice doesn't appear to have changed since I first heard this on my old Dansette as a single in 1967.
I clicked on this video and I’m so grateful that you kept quiet throughout this masterful performance. I’m so wary of reviews of this specific live set as half wits constantly chirping and interrupting it completely ruins it.
Big Suggestion here: This was performed with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra - please react to their playing Ennio Moriconi's "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", conducted by Sarah Hicks. I promise it will amaze you. As to Procul Harem, they are an English group and this came out my senior year in high school in London. This was almost an anthem for me and many of our generation there.
Hi Sarah 😌... did I see a tear in your eye... it's a beautiful performance...I know how you feel... from a bygone era...a simpler time then... your name means princess...
Hi Ms. S., A great song & performance 40 years after its original recording.. While U are relaxing, U should listen to The Moody Blues, live version with an orchestra of "Knights In White Satin".. ♠W.G.
