I've had my share of modelers (POD, Kemper, Iridium etc.) over the years and I currently have a Dream and a Ruby along with my amps. Love both!

I love the modelers that go after one sound. I’ve never been real great at dialing in something with a million options. I got the Vox Mystic Edge for a couple of reasons: I can get that AC30 sound at lower volumes, I can have a good sound going direct into the PA or DAW, and I have a “back up amp” if something goes wrong with my amp at a gig. I’ll have to try to track down a UA Dream so that I can have my Fender amp tones the same way I have my AC30 tones with the Mystic Edge. Thank you for the video, Mike! Keep up the great work!

I love the details in your story telling. The other guitarists and I at church use DI solutions. Two use the Humbolt Simplifier, one switches from Helix to a Ruby, and I’m doing a Helix along with pedals in the fx loops. I’m wanting to try the Dream out myself because I mainly use the fender tones and miss having all pedals quite often. But the reason I stick with the LT is whenever I get into a (insert band or genre) phase I can dial in a similar rig and not go buying and trading like I used to.

I have a dream 65 and a Ruby, and use both as my primary “amps”. I also need to keep the noise down and output to headphones. These also take pedals better than anything else I’ve tried.

Hey Mike! Have you tried and compared the dream 65 to the tonemaster deluxe and the strymon iridium? would love your take on that!

I have the UA Ruby and Dream pedals, they are closest digital version of the actual tube amps. Way closer than the Strymon Iridium or the Boss IR 200. The UA Dream sounds and reacts like the Deluxe Reverb, the UA Ruby sounds and reacts like the Vox AC30.

Sorry if I sound like a noob but I prefer the dream and the ruby over the actual amps. I grew up with impulse responses, and hearing these amps off of records (and rarely real amp in room) And therefore I find it far more natural to play IR through frfr than to play amp in room , if that makes sense

I would have bought a Dream - but I’m blessed with a spectacular Mesa Blue Angel 2 x 10. So, I bought a Woodrow which switches into my effects loop. This allows me to Tweed straight into my 6V6 power section (or with a switch El-84 section) and cover both bases. I love my Woodrow! These pedals into high quality effects loops are amazing

I have the D65. I run it through a line 6 power cab and run the pedal without cab sim and use the cab sim from the power cab…. and it’s absolutely incredibly close to my deluxe reverb amp. I’ve A/B tested them while blindfolded, having my wife switch them and I could tell the slightest difference but couldn’t really tell which was the tube amp and which was the pedal

I am a ToneX and HX Stomp guy. I really love the tones I have heard on videos of the Ruby (I am more of a British amp guy - Vox/HiWatt/Marshall - than a Fender amp guy) but have been resisting buying one as I am pretty happy with what I have (although GAS sometimes wins out anyway). Oh, and I prefer Lowes. :)

I've had the Ruby since it was released. After about a year of being totally wow'd by the Ruby I decided to sell my HX Stomp and get the Dream with money to spare. The Dream and the Ruby are an incredible stereo pair. I'm not really close to either store, and I haven't given it any thought until now, but Lowe's really let me down with a dangerously defective and expensive appliance once and I haven't been back since. My closest Home Depot hires a lot of semi-retired trades guys who have been a huge help more than once.

Hey there! I recently switched to a Dream65-based setup. I'm running the dream into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd Gen) which is going into the USB port of my MacBook Pro. UA says you can plug their pedals directly into headphones or speakers, but I've read many mixed reviews about that approach.

I got the Ruby mainly because I didn‘t have a VOX style Amp and I wanzend something to take on a vacation. Since I actually like to move some air, I recently started to switch off the Cab Sim and go into the FX Return of my Roland JC40, which is a fun way to use the Ruby. I‘m even thinking of getting something like the Supro Keeley, which is a Tube Amp AND has a FX Loop. And maybe a Dream😅

i feel like i've become a single-issue voter on your channel so sorry about always commenting the same thing but i'd love to hear you compare the quilter superblock us to the UA dream; i'm really happy with my quilter for that purpose, but have always been intrigued by the dream and am curious if it's better. some other modelers i used didn't sound very good with gain or delay in front of them. the superblock can actually power a speaker off of pedalboard power alone so that's a cool feature. mild preference for home depot

I play a pair of Princetons live, but occasionally I need to go silent - and the Dream is my answer. It actually breaks up faster than my Princetons (just like a real Deluxe, btw), but wowzers does it sound good. My only complaint is that the tremolo speeds can't run independently in stereo. That is the sound of PURE MAGIC on my Princetons, and it just annoys me that I can't replicate the same thing with the Dream.

I actually bought Woodrow, Ruby and the Dream... Then I got the Orange Terror... LOL😬Instead of spending any extra money for months. Instantly obsessed with the IT of it all. BLOWN AWAY by the sound. I absolutely love them. Im a child of the 70s & 80s, and not the best guitarist... LOL BUT! I know sound/tone and these even feel like a damned amp. I nuse a Powercab with them... I have a Marshall tube amp and cant part with it (nostalgia?🤔). I personally love these and have a small space to play at home so... nuf said. I havent gigged with one yet but about to. Wanted alot of practice with them first. Dream is my fav... Love your show, MIke. Thanks for all ya do buddy.

All I can ever suggest to any Music Equipment shopper is "Try before You Buy" Deal of a lifetime or Deal of the Week or Whatever the pitch is to get you to spend money ( This sale is nearly over and we won't do this again, etc) Music Equipment is often a "subjective" thing, unique to the shopper. I have been pumped about certain guitars seen in advertisements or on RU-vid, go to a local Music Store that has it, Try it and find it didn't match the Hype ( disapointment followed often and now I often wait until I'm emotionally ready for all that before I shop these days. May all your music equipment dreams come true!

Owner of a Dream 65 here! I bought it roughly 6 months ago. Since, I've been using it every single time when practicing at home, and very often during band practices in the studio and during live shows. I also use it for recording. It would be pointless to repeat all the positive things mentioned about the unit in the video, so I am only going to say that I agree with everything. To me, the unit feels and sounds like a Fender Deluxe Reverb. I currently don't have an amp at home and was considering buying one at some point. However, in all the comparisons I did of tube amps with the Dream 65, every time either I liked the sound of the Dream 65 better, or I liked the amp and the Dream 65 equally. I decided to stick with the Dream 65 and a good pair of studio monitors for the following reasons: - it takes no space - I play at low volume and using headphones - More reliable than an actual amp - No maintenance cost (time and money) - No mics to buy for recording - All the mic-ing is done by pros at Universal Audio (mic-ing is hard!) Adding to all that, I find it extremely useful to have the Dream 65 part of your pedalboard. Showing up to a gig and the amp is in bad conditions? Just disable the speaker simulation of the dream and plug it straight into the power amp (return of the send/return effect loop). You can even go silent and straight into the front of the house if necessary, and still have an amazing sound 🙂 Finally, I like trying new things so I don't mind turning the Dream 65 off and plug straight into whatever amp I have in the studio or on stage, but for those looking for consistency in their sound, it's a great solution in my solution in my opinion. You can just always plug it into a power amp of whatever amp is provided.

After I spent about 20k on better & better vintage-emulation gear to avoid buying an expensive noisy vintage amp, I realized it would have been cheaper & easier to have just bought the amp in the first place. …but, I found that stacking up premium & valve pedals in di configs produced so many interesting new tones, I no longer care for vintage emulation at all. Those old tones are fine & refined for what they were used for, but with a nearly infinite array of tonal & compositional possibilities splaying out in front of us, the guitar worlds obsession with traditionalism seems so restrictive it’s almost oppressive. I think I understand why Leo Fender just went bonkers and designed completely crazy crap for a few years after starting G&L.
