That Betta set up was almost as bad as a cat hoarding situation. When they 'care' but there is mass cruelty in front of them they cant see or live in denial about.

The lobster looks like me trying to take all the shopping in at one time.

My dad is a HUGE Star Wars fan. I made him a shrimp tank a few months back (he loves shrimp) and after seeing The AT-AT scape, I may need to do a redesign lol.

I added some julii Cory's to my 40 gallon solo betta tank and I've noticed him following them, never to attack but seemingly out of curiosity. well today I saw him swimming pretty slow (only for a few moments, then he returned to normal swim speeds) and low to the substrate behind them, almost like he was imitating them. his plan was foiled of course when they saw he was, in fact, a betta, but it was super cute and I was initially worried he would be aggressive towards them but it's the exact opposite- it's almost as if he wants in on their lil gang

Absolutely butterfly loaches are the best bottom feeders, never a dull moment in the tank with them flipping around or trying to get the filter mulm

I got 2 baby bettas yesterday that we're super skinny and we're in really bad living conditions I couldn't hardly see them through the little cup they was in so I brought them home and put them in some medicated water incase they had a skin infection they are absolutely beautiful! My favorite Coridora is probably the white ones I don't know much about them yet but they are cute XD

For real I hope that person with all the betta fish gets help :( Hoarding situations are always terrible and sad 😢

Bronze Corys is where it's at. They're very active and always up to something. They keep my sand so nice and clean no more black spots but kiss the crystal clear water away, there's always gonna be something floating around due to them.

I work at a PetShmo store as the Aquatic Specialist and I’m tired of people coming in for a refund for fish/supplies they bought from the store and was actually helped by someone and given advice. I only trust 2 people with the knowledge to give to someone about fish/animals in general. The amount of research that people do is microscopic, and the amount of people that we have vs how many KNOW HOOOW to care for these creatures is astounding. At least make every employee do one of those annoying required task assessments online for these things. If only they put as much effort into animal care vs the amount of new pals rewards they make or vital cares they “need” so that the upper management could get off their backs. I don’t really like this form of globalized marketing for pets, not in this way. I love the animals that come in and I do my best to take care of them. Please try to get your animals elsewhere, I work here for the animals, barely for the guests that come in, most of them suck anyway s😂😭

Storytime: I once noticed something sitting on the driftwood that pokes out of the water in my 10 gallon. Turns out it was a newly formed damselfly. I never noticed it's nymph form while it was in my tank, and I live in a warm climate, so it probably wasn't in there for more than a couple weeks (they develop faster in tropical temperatures). Luckily no fish were affected as far as I'm aware, but it definitely was a scary realization lol

My absolute favourite Cory is the Pygmy Cory. Love how they shoal and are so cute.

ROFLMAO at the damselfly nymph... I brought in some plants from the garden ponds, and damsels apparently came along for the ride (as eggs or very smol nymphs). Walking past the cherry shrimp tank I see shromp shromp shromp, wait, that doesn't move like a shromp... DAMSEL I netted it out and put it in the pond. And found more. And more. At least a couple reached adult stage (the last shed, similar to what shrimp do, their exoskeleton cracks open and they emerge with a little backpack. They climb up a plant stem or other item to the air, unfurl the wings out of the "backpack", then fly off (shouting, so long and thanks for all the bugs). I found one adult on my sink. The shrimp remained abundant, so the damsels didn't eat much. Damsels are small (abut the size of a near adult cherry shrimp) and lightly built. While predators, they are unlikely to take down a wholeass shrimp. They might eat babies though. Dragonflies are larger, bulkier (they sit like airplanes, while damsels sit with wings demurely folded), and the nymphs are underwater hunter bugs on steroids. Chonky bois. If you had something to feed them, and a way to catch the adults (a mesh area above your tank) and release them, they're fun to watch. Or you can take a net out to your local stream/river/pond/lake and find them and photograph them.

Panda Corys are my overall favorites, but I’m planning to get some little Habrosus or Pygmys when I set up my 20G long this year, and they’ve really grown on me while researching!

I love my brothers peppered cories! They're more active than the albinos, their markings are interesting and they have a subtle teal sheen to their cheeks. So cute!

Panda Corydoras are my favorite because when you have a real gang, it's like having Juggalos on cocaine in your tank.

Legion! I just had a convo with him in yesterdays aquarium co-op livestream. He is heading out for a summer job and was worried about leaving his aquarium and wondering if he should take it down. I suggested that he take the fish to his local fish store and hand them over for in store credit. He said his plants are well developed and he wanted to keep them so he plans on leaving the tank for the summer, hope it works out for him!

I can't believe I've watched almost 200 episodes of FTR, but I can totally believe I've watched almost 200 episodes about reviewing fish tanks considering I watch this weekly next to my own year long planted and scaped 10 gal aquarium. And all it took as a good little kpop boy fish keeper (NCT Taeyong) to get me into the hobby and FTR has been my info dumping source and guide ever since. Thanks Chris! I have panda corys that have decided to breed not sure what I'm going to do with all the babies there are now 4 generations lol

The tanks may be half full because she doesn't trust the glass/silicone to hold up. I have a 33gallon that I can only fill 3/4th of the way because otherwise it starts to buldge. Mine used to have a crossbeam to support but someone (me) decided to remove it in order to install a 3d background. I dont mind the look of a tank with low waterline though, just keep alot of plants growing out of it 👌

My favorite bottom dweller is Cherry Shrimp (Bloody Mary's), although I'm not entirely sure if they count as a bottom feeder since they'll get literally everywhere in the tank that they can possibly reach 🤣

Favorite bottom feeder is easily kuhli loach. Favorite cories are tied between albino and emerald. Currently there are cory fry hiding somewhere in my 50 gallon tank

Bugger this. It's Wednesday here, just saw this. In between being a day ahead, uploads on my Monday (No haven't forgotten.) Tuesday being your Monday. Having metal plates put in my broken leg. A 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 ft that's still empty, a nano wth just an anubis on d/wood, a 2ft with 9 Rainbows 12 white clouds a betta and about 50 pond snails (shoot me), a 1 ft with plants, assorted d/wood and other h/scape and a wheelchair and a gazillion dr's appointments, enough pills to start a pharmacy I have to use that notification bell thingy. Happy New Year from Oz :) Love ya work mate.

Oh you used to work in a store? I currently work in a pet store, mainly caring for around 80 tanks with fish and plants. I started a couple of months ago, and knew absolutely nothing about fish or aquariums at the time! The cutest corydoras wehave are the albinos, but my fave bottom dwellers are the spotted talking catfish! The way they shake their butts when they swim around is adorable:)

It's been 6 months and my hydrocotyle finally died completely. I've kept everything else alive - amazon swords, 3 types of anubias, windelov fern, cryptocoryne, and floaters. I have easy green liquid fert, root tabs, liquid potassium and iron. I want a nice thiccc carpet, what is the easiest plant for that?

Honestly, that lady's mom just seems like she's someone who saw what the store was doing and emulated that. It would be helpful if stores would show what beta environments SHOULD look like in the stores. A picture or, something.

I LOVE Cory's... my favourite is the pretty simple and usual Sterbai. Cheap, fairly easy to keep and breed and still, they are absolutely beautiful. My absolute favourite bottom dweller must go to the pond loach, also known as oriental weather loach. They are generally a bottom dweller, but can move around in the entire aquarium on occasion... especially during feeding. And they are like little puppies, interacting and nibbling on your fingers during feeding if you get them used to it. They need at least a 40 gallon tank, but they are worth the bigger tank, absolutely gorgeous fish!

I adore corydoras, but I haven't had good success with keeping them. I had some pygmy corys in a planted ten gallon, but they suddenly started swimming erratically and dying after only a few weeks. I thought the culprit may have been a summer spike in temperature, but the same thing happened when I tried again a few months later (meanwhile, I had a few guppies in the same tank who remained healthy.) Later, I kept emerald cories in my 55 gallon with diamond tetras. They were doing great for about a year and a half and were my all-time FAVOURITE fish. They are SO beautiful and have such great personality. Suddenly, I started finding them all dead within the space of just a month. No idea what happened... My bristlenose pleco also passed shortly thereafter! Maybe it's an issue of oxygen circulation on the bottom? Not enough gravel vacuuming? Water quality seemed normal, and the other inhabitants of the tank were fine. I still feel devasted about that and I miss those fish. :(

The super low water in the bigger tanks with Bettas is for breeding. Males have to corner the female and later carry eggs she drops up to the nest, then as the eggs and babies fall out they are chasing them down and putting them back. If the tank has 3 inches of water he has to do like 30% of the work he would do in 10 inches of water. After the fry leave the nest you can take him out to rest in his own tank and the first few water changes for the fry are just top ups.

I love how some people don't know the worth of things... the guy selling the $250 tank while you can get all of the stuff there new for barely $50 in the store. I've seen people making pretty similar things... it's absolutely no use even to reply to such a person, they would think they get rip off even if you offer them full retail price for their stuff!

in the first video I saw what looked like a planted tank off tho the side , so maybe all those tanks are in mid water change and all those bettas are in a holding area of some sorts while the water is being drained

I've seen something even worse than selling a 10 gallon for $250. A woman posted to my city's aquarium club selling a crusty 10 gallon tank setup with a giant goldfish, mystery snails, swordtails, and a pleco... for $350. QOTW: I wasn't originally a big cory fan, but I recently got a group of pygmy cories for my 20 gallon and I can't get over how adorable they are with their little whiskers and black eyes! My favourite bottom dwellers are probably kuhli loaches though.

To be fair, that number of betta in one house is the only way to go through a container of betta pellets before it goes bad.

albino corys are the ones i keep. They are very active and funny, but the best looking corys are definitley pygmys in my opinion, so cute.

the buying of fish water makes a little sense if you have super hard water where you live and can’t collect rainwater. but it’s way cheaper to just get a few 5 gallon containers of distilled water and add it to your tap water until the ph is where you want it, or maybe store tap water in a container with some fish safe leaves to make it more acidic if you’re ok with the blackwater look. my tap water is super hard so i just have to use a bunch of aquasoil or driftwood and leaves to keep the ph right, and it makes doing large water changes risky
