In July, I lost my good friend, hiking and travel buddy to cancer. He battled for 10 years before joining his wife. I look forward to hearing more about your father. I introduced her to your videos, and she greatly enjoyed them, I sent her a link to your video every Saturday morning. From a 67 year old native East Texan born & raised in the flatlands but with mountains in my heart: love your videos. Like you, my dad instilled in me a love of travel, mountains and adventure, beginning with our first trip out west in 1965. One of the last trips he took with us -- the whole family -- was down the Greys River Canyon Rd and we camped along the way. Long before internet and RU-vid, I spotted on the map what looked like a cool dirt road and daddy said, 'Let's go'. Thanks for reviving a wonderful memory for me.

My condolences on the passing of your father. My passion for the outdoors was also inspired by my father. He passed from cancer about 11 years ago. He loved camping and fishing as well as hunting. He loved taking my sons camping and fishing. He got to pass his love of the outdoors to his grandchildren as his father did with me. I found your channel when my youngest son and I decided to try Tenkara this year which also led me to this channel. I was going to buy a new truck this year, but after being inspired by this channel, my wife and I decided to get a new Ford Bronco Sport to replace our aging Chevy Trailblazer. She wants do deck it out with an awning and a tent for the back of it and take our grandson out camping on the free camping sites all over Pennsylvania. It's time for this Pappy to start sharing my love of the outdoors with our first grandson like my father and my grandfather did. Tristan, I loved the way that you talked about the river. It strikes a chord with me as I talk to animals and to trees. It just makes me feel as though I am never truly alone and makes me feel much more connected to my environment.

Yes, sorry for your loss. I camped along the Grey one trip with my son. We joined the river at Alpine just like you and went in several miles. Stayed on night as it was along the way to GT, Jenny Lake and points north. An epic time we will cherish forever and now you've shown us enough to return for more. Thank you.

I've always liked that you start your videos with the red dot on the map of the US to show your approximate location. I thought is was a nice touch in this video to show the detailed route on the Topo map and Atlas. I'd be interested to see you build your own camper for SOME content but hopefully you would still do mostly SUV RVing. My condolences on the passing of your Dad.

Shoot, here in Texas that muddy of a river is almost clear... at least in a lot of places! Oh, and, cinematically speaking, the way you showed the atlas and the phone together was GREAT! Im connected with disaster relief: "It's fine until it wasn't." Yep. Yep. Yep! This area has intrigued my imagination since... well, it was in the 1960s! Have yet to make it back! First, my condolences on the passing of your father, that’s a hard trail to follow. With respect to your DIY towable build, yes cool to see what design you create for your purposes. I also drive a Rav4 and pondered this issue. Towing anything is a hassle, that’s the main disadvantage. Unless you can stand up, that’s another disadvantage. I finally settled on a Gazelle T3 hub tent, 2-3 minute setup and a Gazelle Gazebo. Total cost was about $600.00. I finally decided if I can’t stand up and if I can’t cook inside then a towable isn’t for me.

I’m obsessed with the mountain west, even though I’ve only been to NM and CO. I don’t SUV camp, but have a small trailer. Now that I’m retired, I hope to see more! Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear about your father's passing Tristan. A couple years ago my step father passed and a few months after I lost my mother, which lead me to abruptly stop making videos until I could get my mind right...so I respect the fact you are still able to continue on making high quality videos for us all to enjoy. As for the small camper, I wouldn't mind seeing it featured occasionally on the channel and you should certainly do a video series of the build since a lot of viewers would probably be very interested in that kind of content.

You and I have a great deal in common, except that I am 78 years old and after many solo trips to Southern Utah, etc., I still cannot get enough. Have made trips beginning with tent camping, vehicle camping, popup trailer, tow behind RV, large 5th wheel RV, and this spring, I plan to head back with truck bed camper. Really enjoy your videos. I'm sure it may sound trite but I am sorry for your loss. My brother-in-law is a military veteran. He was lucky enough to return from battles alive. He pointed out these observations to me. 1) None of us get out of this life alive. 2) That if we live beyond 50 or more years, that we've all had a pretty good run at our lives. 3) Lastly, be grateful for that which we do have. I've always admired your treks in this life of yours. Be well

Tristan. I love your channel for the interesting places you find and share with us. To me, it doesn't matter if you are traveling in an SUV, a truck camper or pulling a trailer, it's the places and the photography that count. That being said, I think the perfect rig for you would be an F150 with a 4-Wheei pop-up camper. It will take anywhere an SUV will, but they have a nice queen-size bed, refrigerator, cooktop and running water.

Thank you for covering such a wonderful area of the country that never gets mentioned. I also thoroughly enjoyed the information on the Lander Cutoff and the Oregon Trail. It also saddens me to see the grave sites of people who never made it to the end of their dreams. Maybe some of those people were related to us, maybe not, but maybe there are some of our relatives who are buried along the wagon trails of their dreams. It always helps to remember these people and what they sacrificed for us who are here now. I was really sorry to hear about your loss of your father. The way that you have talked about him he must have really loved you and must have been so proud of you.

Very sorry for your loss. Families can be together forever for which I am thankful for. I love the Greys river. I have camped , hunted, fished this area since I was 16.. I am 72 and from Logan Ut. but I knew the Walton family in Cokeville Wyo. and they shared their love for this area with me. From Alpine to the little sign that shows the start of the Greys is about 55 miles, and you have the Little Greys , Smiths Fork, Hobble Creek etc, down to The beautiful Lake Alice area. Thank you so very much for this video. I fished this area with my dad and sons as well i love it so much and will cherish this posting from you. Thank you. I lost my dad about 11 years ago and i was able to learn from him my love of the outdoors and he taught me to fish all over the west. I’m sorry for your loss Tristan. Your dad left a wonderful legacy in you. We have a small travel trailer so we enjoyed seeing a place we could take it to camp off grid when we have more time in the future.

I like that you went into detail, including a map, about where you were and where you were going. Anytime I watch an adventure video, I have Google maps open to follow the route, you made it even easier. When I'm on an adventure, I always try to imagine the life and thoughts of the people that were there before me. Often, I try to imagine their hopes and dreams as they were on the path to wherever they were headed. Great location and a nice video that allows the viewer to feel part of the place. It's always tough to lose a parent, but it seems like he lives on through your adventures.

Absolutely the best thing that you made spending time with your dad the priority. So sorry to hear that you lost him to cancer. But at least you won't regret that you didn't make time for him in his last days. Alaska will be there next year. We live in Creston, British Columbia, just north of Idaho. The Creston valley is rich in history and the Kootenay and Purcell mountains have many adventures to be found. Come north, young man!
