The Sims 2 this Pleasantview gameplay was supposed to be wholesome (Sims 2 Oldies family). I thought the video with the iconic Caliente sisters was the final episode in the first Pleasantview rotation but it turns out y'all really wanted to see the Oldies and Burbs get their episodes too. Since I'm always down for more fun Sims 2 gameplay, I was happy to continue with the first round for a bit longer :)
In this video, we try to give the Oldies the life they deserve. Our success (or lack thereof) will mainly be based on how many wants we manage to complete for each family member, how well they do at work/school, the completion of various other milestones that we'll attempt throughout the video, as well as the overall level of wholesomeness. As you can probably tell from the title, things didn't go exactly to plan...

Lifelong happiness makes their aspiration level decay slower. Also damn lol another Sims 2 bug discovered after more than a decade. Guess your last sim on the lot isn't supposed to die when the therapist is present, because it causes this.

That part with the therapist reminds me of when I was playing in Strangetown, offing two families in the same lot, when the last sim in the second family was overtaken by the Grim Reaper. The UI and icons still showed the last "living" sim, but I was controlling the Grim Reaper for at least 4 minutes or so until he dissappeared and I got the usual end message.

I think the problem of the therapist it's all about the Angela's breakdown and then the breakdown didn't ended up and the therapist just stood corrupted in the house maybe to just ending the interaction towards Angela.

I am so angry with myself that I rarely played with The Oldies. They are such sweet couple. Please don't stop doing this series! I love it so much - next up the Burb family and then Strangetown. Thank you for having a dedicated episode for the Oldies! I had so much fun watching them. With your creativity and edition, I wonder how it is gonna be for the Burbs family. I can't wait. :) Now about what happened to the Therapist, my theory is while Angela was having her breakdown/aspiration failure, the Therapist just "joined" the household, and the game is considering the therapist "belongs" to the household? Another great video❣ I am so glad that you were able to hold such restraint with Herb. I also find it a bit difficult with Herb's romance wants, because Coral is such a sweetie. When I play them, I normally do have them have a Golden Anniversary party, and normally fulfill Coral's adoption want. I suppose you gave them both secondary aspirations (I always do too), so perhaps the want to adopt did not come up? Left to their own devices, Lilith and Angela always do end up patching things up. The reason why some players never get to that point is because of the "fury," added in after NL, but you helped diminish that by having them both on the same lot, together❣ Kudos❣👏 Looking forward to the Burbs❣

Thank you! It was hard and I did ignore it a couple times but I try to listen to my Sims’ input (wants based gameplay with some creative freedom) so eventually I had to go through with it. Ohh, the anniversary party is such a neat idea, perhaps I focused on the dinners with their grandkids a bit too much haha. And I didn’t give them secondary aspirations, I actually very rarely add those but maybe it’s time I start experimenting with them more. And yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to see Lilith and Angela getting along reasonably well. Was worried they’d constantly fight, but nope. I hope college gives them a chance to get on even better terms

@@crazymarq4390 Just letting you know, that in giving (especially romance and pleasure sims), a secondary will also cut down on wants that you may dislike more, by adding in wants that you like more. I normally give every romance/pleasure sim family or knowledge to balance them out more realistically. It will make your decision making far easier too. However, on the other side, giving family/knowledge sims romance or pleasure secondaries will result in bipolar Sims that can and will become opposite of their personalities, as those secondary aspirations are the most hard-coded for serial romancing and fun (overriding base moral compass). Don't worry about playing in the style that you like most, I am super happy that you did focus on building family ties with the grandkids, because any time spent on the same lot when 2 sims have fury for one another (regardless if they are selectable), will keep decreasing the fury. I think that you likely rid it entirely, and once the fury is gone, Angela and Lilith get along better than any other siblings. So many players love the drama, and will allow the twins to keep the fury going to their deaths. While, that may be fun for some, their fury just is triggering to me. By the way, I agree with another aspect of how other Sims can easily lower aspiration by fulfilling some of the silliest fears. Poor Coral. 😢 On the other hand, it is tougher to get Herb into platinum, so you do deserve 👏 for that❣

I can only imagine a Romance/Family Sim would be super chaotic hahaha It’s super unfortunate because Coral was so close to ending with Platinum aspiration too. She was there or thereabouts for the majority of the video but that townie really wanted to ruin the vibe :(

Wowwwwwwww Sims 2 glitches are truly the best, the creepiest and funniest ones 😂 I once hired a nanny, but for some reason she just stayed forever? She doesn’t leave, and is just part of the family now, she eats my food, uses toilet and sleeps in the bed like real household member would.. her car stays on the road, and doesn’t let other cars go through, so police/firefighters can’t come… that’s hella funny

bro! this reminded me of my lost gameplay! i made a cute house for the oldies, in shades of yellow and wooden furniture... she wanted to work at sea and he wanted to be a comedian. gotta confess that herb's womanizer madness made me nervous lol, so i used that machine (which you can get with wants points, you know?) to change his aspiration! i didn't get that far with them, because as i said, i lost my save ): btw, death's scene in the bathroom?! lmaoooo and the end, with the therapist, was creepy as heck, Lord have mercy! finally, the outcome of mary-sue was exciting! great gameplay as always, mr. marq! keep up the great work.womanizer

I am loving this series! Thank you for this episode, it had the balance between realistic and weird (stalker townie and therapist, like whatttt) Can't forgive Herb for cheating on Coral like that tho Pleasant and Oldies households are my absolute favorite in Pleasantview. Then i played it first, I moved Lilith with Oldies and they bonded fast and had the coziest time together. Coral and Herb were literally immortal and also in my game Herb didn't roll any cheating wants, like he just wanted to spend time with Lilith and Coral and go on dates/develop skills. too bad I put the game on the road to corruption so I had to reset neighborhood. I want an episode about Daniel chilling in his cabin even though he is a sleazebag hahah Also how did Mary Sue end up in jail? Like, it's her house, she didn't do it for insurance fraud or anything, how did the police prove it was arson?? Who sued her/ratted her out?? Was it Kaylynn? Was it Daniel? So many questions

Thank you! Yeah, Herb disappointed me a bit too. Sims 2 drama though 😮‍💨 The Oldies can be surprisingly fun to play, there’s a good mix of wholesome and dramatic gameplay moments to be had. I really like your gameplay, it sounds really sweet. Shame about the corruption spoiling the party :( Funnily, originally I planned on doing a longer check up on Daniel, as part of the Pleasant episode but went against it as I felt the video would’ve been too long and his story was wrapped up (for that episode anyway). And unfortunately, I feel like the cabin gameplay in a future video is no longer possible, no spoilers though 🤭 The way I see it, her motive was letting out the frustration, leaving the bad memories behind, and getting some insurance money. She was charged with insurance fraud and arson, a bit unrealistic ik, but it’s in line with the Sims logic 🤭😭 Some of the questions might be answered in the future, if I can find an appropriate moment to fit the scenes in

The video was 80% of wholesomeness. Herb has balls to keep flirting (drunk) with some lady nearly in front of his wife - Coral deserves better, she's that sweet older neighbour who everyone adore. That glitch with Therapist was... creepy, I never had such a thing. Maybe something really is wrong with game 🤣 The ending was unexpected, maybe there's still a chance for them :)

I got herb to get Dina pregnant and then he died. So Dina and Mortimer raised the boy passing him as Mortimer’s. Coral was unaware until she ran into the lovechild as an adult and noticed how much he looked like herb! She went on to adopt two more children and raise them before passing away.

I had to subscribe! Your videos are so entertaining and fun to watch. I binged watch every video you have on the sims 2. I play the sims 4 and grew up playing the sims 3. I just found your channel recently and it's really nice to see that I'm not the only one who plays Sims 2 in modern times. Everybody focus on Sims 4 but me... no, I stay at Sims 2 although I was born in the timeline of it. So much lore, so much detail, so much fun. Everything 😃 That's why I want to reset my complete game to have the old families because I spent as a young dude not much time in the real feature: The Lore. But I have at the moment a big problem because I can't get it on a Windows 10 computer (I'm such a noob in it, maybe here are a few nerds. To your information I have every single CD and Code like the Original yk 😬) Love your videos so much because it's like a new TV Program. The camera ride, music and atmosphere hits so different. I'm so curious on the families in Strangetown and Veronaville, especially the rivalry between the two will be interesting how it will continue on your hand 😇 How I would play the Oldies, I noted a little text to EACH household in Sims 2 if I can play it on a better computer: They'll live in a house nearby the Pleasants like you and after the breakup of Mary-Sue and Daniel, she has a residence where she isn't alone after Angela and Lilith go to college with their crushes. Then they die of old age but Mary-Sue will then enjoy her own life till' she has reached her end. "A few years" when the two rival teens Angela and Lilith get married and have on her own kids, which will hate the others kids (Little Monty and Capp vibes I wanna make in Pleasantview), they saw the house and wanna find out what their grandparents did because Daniel and Mary-Sue aren't any longer with us. The gravestones will take a place in the Pleasants' house of course but the family's ancestry will maybe the only one thing to end the rivalry, that hate just will have consequences and the "good and evil aunts of Pleasantview" can reconcile each other and save the city. The other lots form an alliance and if just one is one of the sides, uh oh... But I can't say much in detail, so this is my rough plan for the Oldies and Pleasants in case ✍️🫠 PS: Thank you for reading, yes you I mean, hope it's all clear what I wrote. Thank you! Sims 4 is alright imo but I just prefer Sims 2, I think it’s aged really well and, like you said, the details and lore are amazing. Your ideas for Pleasantview are fun too, I love how you want to create the Monty-Capp vibes, that’s a neat idea! Your English is good, don’t worry! I understood you :)

I believe the lifelong happiness skill gives your sim a permanent platinum aspiration bar. If not, it makes the lifetime happiness bar fill up way faster.

Good idea! The Oldies can make for quite a wholesome but also chaotic gameplay with Herb’s tendency to cheat, so they’re fun. And the Burbs can be played in a whole lot of different ways, which is cool

I feel like if I unpaused the game, he would’ve despawned shortly after. I’ve spawned all sorts of NPCs in my experiments and the likes of Grim Reaper, Santa etc. all seem to despawn quickly. Regardless, I’d like to think it’ll be fine but corruption usually takes a while to show up so we’re not in the clear yet haha

I moved the oldies to a house. While i was playing them, my game crashed but it literally glitched my screen i got scared and closed the game. The glitch kept going amd i restarted my pc. Now its ok but im still afraid to play them.

I moved them into the house on the 225 Main Street and redesigned it a bit. I’m pretty sure the lot is corrupted after everything that’s happened there so I don’t want anyone to risk their game 😭

Poor Oldies didn't get any Elixir of Life, you could use one or two so they don't die to fast. Whats the mod you use for those animations, like the one at the end? I can see a "yellow box thing" action!

For the animations I use “Paul’s Reaction Tester”, it’s actually a vanilla feature, so no mods, you just need to use the testingcheats and then shift-click on a Sim to spawn it :)
