It’s hard to say sometimes whether a horse like this has been abused by humans, or just not handled very much and allowed to get away with the behavior. I’ve owned some horses since birth that were just generally kinda spoilt before they got handled, and acted similarly. It’s not always abuse, horses are big, skittish, social prey animals that use this behavior to communicate and have an innate fear of the unfamiliar.

That’s was my thought. I’ve always felt dogs seem to sense those that are dog lovers and much more approachable. This horse was a little more work.

True but there's more to it than that- an abused animal has so many issues that even good people are distrusted

​@@edward9643 sadly yes, but this teen girl must have such a good aura and heart for this wonderful pony to even begin to open up, glady sometimes all it takes is to just sit there in the field and let the animal do whatever it wants(other than be aggressive of course)

Yep! That a huge part of it. Many can sense who is absolutely pure.

@@edward9643 that’s the downside, too. And there are also those who are so eager to please that they go back to the abuse because they just wanna make mom/dad happy!

Seeing as how they were Newborns (Neonatal), they should have been put with a Foster. If that’s the case… They didn’t have a very good one. I used to Foster Neonatal/ Pregnant Mommas & Kittens…part of my job, was to Socialize them. It absolutely feels Amazing when you’re able to Win their Trust!!!! I am so incredibly sorry for your Immense Loss!!!! I’ve lost my share & it still hurts. ❤

@@thecelticcrone7927 They came from a charity here in the UK called cats protection, they have a trap / spay / return programme for barn / feral cats, they told me in total they usually have around 100-120 cats / kittens a year to re-home. Then they received a call that an elderly gentleman who lived on an inactive farm had passed away, he had feral cats who he fed daily, & of course.. they bred.. & they bred.. you get the idea (I grew up on a farm, my father is a retired farmer & we had our own little brood of feral cats but they were all spayed & taken care of). Unfortunately the entire group reached the amount of around 130, more than they rescue in an entire year, so Millie & Jakey got placed in a rescue centre. They were safe, fed, etc but weren’t handled, there weren’t enough people to foster. That’s when I found out about them as they put a notice in the local paper ‘cats & kittens looking for loving homes’. I’d not long had a MH breakdown, & mum thought it was what I needed (I’d had kitties all my life), I wasn’t quite prepared for the challenge those first 24hrs but I knuckled down & I’d go as far to say our bond was very different to my other furrbabies - I loved them all equally, but it was just different, does that make sense? When they love & trust you.. it’s just amazing. Morbid or not, I have my furrbabies cremated individually, they’ll all come with me when I pass. I can’t just dispose of them as if they meant nothing & I don’t own my own home, so it felt right. You certainly don’t ever get over the losses. Ever. I’ve wanted to foster for a long time but fear they’ll reject me in case the cats need to go outside as I have a road outside my property. Perhaps I’ll ask when I move 💗 xx

I used to live in the countryside I hated that I'm not a country stupid girl I don't like being in the countryside it's too much drama
