Great tutorial. I use all of these things, however, I've mapped some of the Keyboard Shortcuts to some different keys for more efficiency. I like having as many of the shortcuts I use a lot mapped to the left side of the Keyboard. Try them out to see if you like them. Zooming on Timeline 1 (on main keyboard) - Zoom out 2 - Zoom in 3 - Zoom whole timeline 4 - Zoom to Frame E - I map the Add Edit function to this key. I put it next to Q and W because when I'm doing an Assembly edit or Selects edit, I'll sometimes need to chop a clip up into multiple smaller selected clips, and it's just super easy to have it mapped to E so you can hit it and keep right on Q-ing and W-ing without having to take your hands off the keys. Nesting Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-C If you're an After Effects user, then you'll want to map the Nest command to Ctrl-Shift-C, which is the same general function as making a SubComp in After Effects. Or use whatever shortcut you want, just map both of these to the same command and it'll become second nature. Ease-in/Ease Out F1 - Ease Out F2 - Ease In If you use the ease in/out a lot, it's super handy to stick them on these two Function keys. I put them in this order because if you're ever using both of them in the same effect you're more than likely starting from stationary, moving, then slowing down, so that order makes it easy to just go in order. G - Audio Gain If you use Audio Gain a lot, mapping it to G makes it really convenient. Playback Speed Ctrl-Spacebar - Speed up I found that hunting for the jkl keys to be annoying. The only one I ever really use is speed up, so I mapped it to Ctrl-Spacebar since I already use Spacebar to play normal. Set to Frame Size F9 - Set to Frame Size I use this one ALL the time. If you use different-sized footage, you will too. F9 is the perfect spot for it because that key is usually the left-most one on that section of F-keys, so you can find it without looking for it generally. Additionally, if you use the Excalibur extension (and if you're not, why not? It's THE most useful Premiere doo-dad that's ever been created), you can map the Fill Frame function to F9 instead, as it fills it both vertically and horizontally, unlike regular Set to Frame size which gives you black bars on the short side. A couple of extras that aren't super-savers like the other ones, but that I find really useful: Enable Mercury Transit F4 - Enable Transmit If you have an external monitor that you use to send your video to, mapping it to F4 allows you to easily turn it on and off if you need to use that monitor for something else for whatever reason. Export Frame F10 - Export Frame I have this mapped to the same key on multiple programs, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop. This is my basic, bang-out-a-framegrab export that I have default to PNG. Reveal in Project . (period key on the right-side keypad) I found it super-easy to map it to this key so I can easily go to a clip in my project bin without having to think much about where my hand should go. Everyone uses different keyboard shortcuts. These are compiled from more than a decade of coming up with my own and trying out other people's suggested layouts to see what worked best for my workflow. See if any of these work for you!
@StefanDieWaldfee
@StefanDieWaldfee 3 года назад
As a professional software developer, using keyboard shortcuts is not only important because it's faster, but it also reduces physical stress on my hands/wrists and distributes the stress between left/right more evenly. I don't know if that's important for anyone here, but for me, it is :)

Ok I didn't know how useful ripple delete was lol. I will DEFINITELY start using brackets for volume LMAO and the shift select option for tracks... absolute lifesaver. Thank you so much. My only complaint is.. Why have you not done a tutorial on every possible search in the world? I come searching for them all the time!! Love your tutorials lol. Thanks a million. I also watched the video you linked in the description and I'm completely amazed. Keep up the amazing work and content. Already waiting for the next upload and wish I found your channel long before a year ago.

DUDE! that brackets-for-volume-adjustment hack alone is going to save me hours! I knew there had to be a better way. I had discovered that holding alt while dragging would go .1 db at a time. But eff dragging at all. This is a game-changer!
