The dev went onto Reddit 2 days before Pillow launched, and asked people what they'd want to do in an app like this. Someone mentioned fishing and another suggested star gazing. Literally two days later, this app launched. I agree that it's a really relaxing and fun app.
I was late and didn't even know about this app until the night before launch, so I didn't see that Reddit thread, but I definitely wouldn't put it past it Lucas to pull that off if that's the case. He did create "Where Thoughts Go" so at least this wasn't made from scratch!
Very interested in this. I suffer from Spina Bifida and CRPS(it ranks as the highest pain in the world). In studies, VR has been proven to reduce the pain associated and actually create new neural pathways, so an app like this is nice. I appreciate the video, thank you. Now I just need a Quest 3 haha
For Quest 2, you can get an infrared light, and it'll fill the room with enough light for the cameras. Of course, the issue with that is that the mixed-reality view would be lit instead of dim.
the app does dim the environment but, true, lights out would be challenging. I think for the meditation app at least it would still be OK, because that mode doesn't require you to touch anything
@@TojiChiba there are many people using them without the face interface. That makes lights on bad, but more ability to be used in sleep transition phases. Will vr ever be used while people are sleeping?
The quest 3 does pretty good with a nightlight (also me saying that when the nightlight I'm using is a screensaver on a TV) and for me it already dims passthrough to where it seems there is no light at all if it's nighttime and most of the lights are off (I am also using the facial interface so that light can't get in as easily), I'll check later with hand tracking though.
you really play this laying on your back? Im disabled and usually are laying down in bed and cant go out anymore i thought VR would be great for me to let me go places but they all want you to sit upright which tires me out or stand or move around blindly none of which i can do at all. But if i can actually lay down flat on my bed and play this that would totally incredibly AWESOME! I assume i would have to use the original flat cloth back strap and none of the newer updated head strap or battery add ons.
hey Johnny, yup this actually requires you to lie down! In fact if you sit up or stand, the game would stop and tell you to lie back down. If you’d like, I’ll buy a copy of the game and gift it to you! Consider it an early holiday gift
I use a separate battery pack, that's not attached to the headset, like a power bank, when I'm laying down and playing this or watching a movie. Also, there are some options on Amazon that make the stock strap more comfortable. I got something that was called TPU head strap cushion.
Quick thing, the stories are entirely ai generated! Meaning that they’re not 100s, not thousands, not even millions but ENDLESS possibilities and endings!
@@rzival Im thinking about buying the Quest 3, but the only appealing part to me is the Xbox Gamepass feature, do you think something similar will come to the Quest 2? I really don't want to waste money on something that the previous generation will get.
yes yes we do dont forget MR/VR is still a niche and mixed and VR and we currently undergo the 80s of VR with people not knowing what to do with the platform properly ... yes we have some gems like super mario(lets say beat saber or any other beat buster) but we also have HEAVY duds like E.T.(hook me up with what is your biggest dud... mine is angry birds VR... though not as duddy as E.T. maybe) but we still need our 90s/2000s with heavy impacts like street fighter and halo
I had the same concern, before I learned from the devs that they approve each one. I do wonder how much more challenging that will be as the app gains more popularity
