Only choice stranger than putting this quote on the box was to only print half of the quote. Full quote is "WRC is for boys, Group B was for men" by Juha Kankkunen

That box quote is ridiculous for this release because Michèle Mouton drove for Audi in Group B!

I think Michelle Mouton might have a few things to say about the statement on the box.

Phil is correct if you use a regular Phillips screwdriver you will strip the screws. They are not Phillips's head. They are JIS Japanese Industrial standard. If you don't have one for your RCs you can buy them on Amain Hobbies for cheap. Maybe Phil can post a link. With the correct driver, you won't strip them as easily.

The 80's brought out the PEAK design for rally cars and the like. Ive always wanted an old Audi Quattro from 1986 with the big bulbs on the front and massive rear end bumper. Love the vids Phil.

3 WEEK OWNERSHIP UPDATE.! I got the Impreza version of this about 3 weeks ago (I'd pre-ordered the Audi but it got set back so I got the Impreza instead).. I put a better more powerful brushless system in it out the box. (3800Kv/3660 Surpass motor, Hobbywing 120Amp ESC running on 3S) On the 1st run the front lost drive because the drive cup grub screw came loose, I took it out to find it had been cross threaded. I replaced it with a higher quality one & threadlocked it, I did the same with the rear... All good now. The tyres lasted 4 runs on dry tarmac before they wore down to the point of being useless... they're made from really crap rubber, they started peeling & chunking immediately. After only the first run it was apparent they weren't going to last long.. Carisma want £30 for a set btw 😂.!! I've replaced them with Ebay "1/10 rc buggy tyres" that cost around £12, they look the same as the Fastrax "cuboid" ones & most likely are the same, but half the price.! They've already lasted about 6 times as long & are only partly worn.!! When I opened the centre diff it was absolutely bone dry, it wasn't even greased.. I put 500,000 oil in the centre diff.. It's all gone now, so the centre diff won't hold oil worth a F*.... Which is nice. 😉 The front & rear diffs had a touch of grease in them, I put 50K in the front & 80K in the rear, they seem to be holding it in. Unfortunately though, the front diff now has an alarming amount of play in it, when moving the wheels back & forth there's a clicking sensation... I think the differential case has worn where the spider gears sit.! The differential cups front, rear & centre are already starting to wear where the dogbone driveshafts sit.! I've had issues with the ridiculously soft phillips/cross head screws, they strip extremely easily.!! I needed to use my dremell to remove a screw holding in the steering post & the rest are borderline stripped.!! This car is not an easy car to work on..!!! It's awkward to work on & not well thought out.! It doesn't exactly scream high quality... It doesn't even whisper it to be fair.. ... It does however look awesome, the bodyshell is very thick & has good detail... Though the windows aren't clear.! 😡! It drives very nicely though the turning circle is laughably bad, like it's literally bloody ridiculous.!! With it being narrow for a traditional 1/8th scale (that's not based an a wider buggy chassis) it does tend to traction roll on high grip surfaces, but if you drive accordingly it's decent.! With the brushless system it's pretty quick.. I'd say high 40 mph ish. I'm very concerned about it's long term durability though... It's certainly nowhere near as well made as something like a Hobao.! For £289 there are better RCs out there..! Overall I'm a little disappointed... Though, I do still like it... A bit.! 😉 😉 But I certainly can't recommend it.! I hope this helps you (it's certainly helped me to get it off my chest).! @tomleyrc man that would deserve another video on gravel tyres with scale rims driven somewhere which looks more like a realistic rally path

That loose surface action looked absolutely brilliant, great driving/filming! Perfect lack of grip! Its a difficult car to model, even the real thing looks completely wrong...... A great effort & top marks for a classic rally car subject. More please Carisma! I never even knew they did a Porsche 959, discontinued now I think? Another superb subject.

I don't think many people worry about the radio these things come with. Wish they wouldn't come with any. People buying these always end up using their own radios. I love my rally cars. I'm going to add a few of these to my collection. Thanks for the excellent review, Phil.

At £290 over at Modelsport, it's not a terrible price. But the Maverick Quantum RX Flux 4S 1/8 4WD Rally Car at £224 is a much better deal. Both come with crap radio gear but a DumboRC can be installed to significantly improve range and response for £30. I don't think the Carisma offers enough to consider purchasing one.

I like the way it jumps and the rear suspension tucks under acceleration, it looks so good!

Just ordered it. Hopefully it's the same scale as the Radio Shack Audi I bought when I was 14. That one has the white 5 spoke wheels! 🤔 I may swap as the Ur Quattro has spoked wheels from factory!

Oh wow, is that Alvaston BMX track next to the R Derwent? Used to race that track, was my local, before this it was at the old Derby Greyhound track (County Gaol) Some summer events we would ride and jump the bikes into the river.

Also I'm buying my dad one of these he's loves Audi we put a motor in an Audi 200 from our little shed when I was a kid the turbo 5 cylinder, and it did 150 mph wouldn't have passed EU tests though..

I have seen some Rc-Rallying Videos, and the Drivers usually run beside their car, while racing the Stage… maybe thats the Reason for the low Speed.

When you first squeezed the throttle in the garage and I saw it squat, I was nearly punching the air going "Yes!!" because that's of course how they actually were. The body roll looks so good on camera even.

Hi Phil, nice bit of kit that Audi rally. Do you remember the Colin McMae rally game, they had group B rally cars, the Peugeot T16, the metro, and Renault 5 2 turbo. But the most bonkers was the audi. Great video always 😊

The ctx8000 transmitter has pretty bad range. I have one and it also cuts out once you get about 75 feet away. It probably needs to go tbh cuz anything faster than that and that little transmitter bubble is too small. Sucks cuz I honestly quite like the oversized wheel.

It’s a shame that they supplied a copy of a standard UR quattro’s road car wheel rather than the Gravel Speedlines that Audi sport actually used back in the day.

Group B in a nutshell; as close as you can get to death and (sometimes) walk away on four wheels.

The cars ran 5 spoke (Dymag?) alloys in period, in tarmac spec. Deep dished, wider on the rear than the front. They ran different wheels in gravel spec.

It's a great looking car and showed decent speed. The soft setup seem to work well. With all the jumps you did I expected more damage. I enjoyed the different on board camera shots.
