As a Puerto Rican BF franchise fan, i find it sad that our beloved telescope collapsed this morning, yet comically ironic that for years prior i was reliving the same moment match after match.
Yeah I posted it as soon as it collapsed at 7 am because my friends called me crying because they lost their jobs Thankfully my contract ended a year ago
I worked at the Arecibo Observatory for a year in 2019 and my coworkers wondered how it would look if it collapsed so I showed them the BF4 levolution and now it happened for real and everyone is really sad for the loss of it
Oh shit...Maybe we should start considering all the other important stuff we break in video games and double check em real quick...You know...just in case. There is still a month left in 2020
The much younger crowd will never have Goldeneye popping up in their heads. It was thanks to that film and the N64 game I got to see it for the first time as well, and then finding out around 2001 that it was an actual location. A loss for humanity indeed.
I am a Puertorican and a BF fan. As a kid I visted the observatory and as a pilot I actually watched it from the sky on my way from Aguadilla to San Juan. This morning, this horrible year took another part of our island away. Is sad to see this icon go. I just whish that like the map they will make a new one to honor the orginal.
Wow, BF4 predicted this would happen in 2020, the same year the game took place and the same year the levolution and the destruction of the observatory in real life would collapse. We feel for you Puerto Rican’s out there, stay safe and hope you feel better soon!
I'm certain that it will be rebuilt. Hopefully better. Stronger. And able to see even further into space. It will be like a phoenix, rising from the ashes of it's former body. Do not be despaired.
After having looked at the live drone footage of the cables snapping + the footage of the actual telescope falling + the aftermath, it is crazy how accurate this demolition is.
I live here in Puerto Rico and its so heartbreaking as a space enthusiasts, as a video game nerd, and as a puerto rican. I felt really but really really proud of our RT Observatory because it meant so much for this little island with big dreams. It served as an inspiration in my life to strive for anything I wanted regardless of where I'd come from. Again, it is really hard to see many people saying their goodbyes!
Iconic map man,BF4 had #Levolution, hopefully BF6 will return with the Levolution feature. I almost got crushed by one of the pillars on one round. It was falling and I said to myself,"i'm so dead",but I lived only because I ended up in the middle gap of the pillar=D i'll NEVER forget that. Also, the easter egg on here was cool, especially the T-Rex. R.I.P. #RogueTransmissions, you will be missed:')
Well has a puerto rican is very sad it been consider in Puerto Rico a symbol of science and most of all a historical monument, many of us sind a petition to preserve it, for us Puertorriqueño is a great disappointment.🇵🇷
If you ever had Seti@home installed on your device, you almost certainly ran data collected at Arecibo with it. Arecibo was the largest and most accessible radio telescope on earth for decades. The fact that it's lost means a huge hit to astronomy. This is like losing the Hubble telescope. Only worse... because the Hubble is getting a replacement that is even more capable and better. Arecibo... there's not really anything to replace it. I heard China is building a giant radio telescope, but... it's not like they'll let in any university or organization in to use it like Arecibo did. Truly a sad day....
Don't wanna be a buzzkill but it's actually based on the FAST "Tianyan" in Southwest China. Though in fairness it's towers and ball are basically carbon copies of Aricebo
Its depressing but Puerto rico is just a big mess with shootings and violence every night, dont forget the corrupt goverment! Right now the only good thing about Puerto rico is for tourism, nothing else I'm sad to say😔 It needs the Hawaii treatment and become a state
Hi i am a Puerto Rican local and i live in arecibo and it really hurt me when i heard the news and i am proud that so many people care about it. I love you all 💕 💜 ♥
Rogue Transmission gave me some fun memories. The most notable being me using the .50 on an MRAP to shoot down jets and helicopters to notable success.
Battlefield 4 released in 2013, but the game took place in 2020. 7 years later after launch. The same year it fictionally takes place, is now a reality. *If only they were to add a virus game mode. It would've been the most accurate foreshadowing in gaming history*
Rogue transmission is actually based on a satellite dish in China. China was in the process of building one during the game's life cycle. It was completed in 2016. So of course it was completed in bf4 because the game took place in 2020
We need a dish of this size for the scientific community. Soon new ones will be made. But the past caint be changed the present can be choosing. But the future can be made. Made into what we all want. A better tomorrow a brighter day. Or just a better light. As long as one still dreams projects and structures like this are possible. So keep dreaming. But keep biulding.
Destruction physics in Battlefield 4 was way better than any other game of it's time..And better than most games nowadays including the dumb Battlefield 5 that it's developers can't make it straight
A sign of the times and education when one of biggest engineering and science projects in the world is described as a real life BF map. Youth of today ha ha
