This Robot Is Made Of Living Cells

This is a robot made out of LIVING CELLS. It is an “animal robot” or “xenobot” that’s only 1 millimeter in size, but it can walk across a petri dish on its own. And the way researchers made it is wild...
Robots made out of living cells are controversial, particularly when they can self-replicate. The reason many scientists want to do this research is that if we can build these robots with specific abilities, maybe one day we could build them for example to hunt down cancer cells or repair damaged tissue. It’s complicated, and truly "huge if true."
If you like optimistic tech stories like this, follow for more! You'll love our show Huge If True.

@w0tch
@w0tch Месяц назад
@@zaphodbond no grey goo apocalypse, there are already plenty of very very fit creatures in the wild and none of them has taken over the world. Simple explanation : thermodynamics. Any self replicating micro organism or micro robot needs a LOT of energy to replicate, and that’s not easy to find in the environment. Also, if you replicate, you get numerous, and when you are numerous, you become an easy prey, and then, you are not numerous anymore …
