Shuto uke nobody does in real life. Mawashi geri traditional is predictable and 99% out of balance as well as impossible with everyday trousers. Low kicks + strikes at vulnerable targets (throat, nose, eyes, neck, lowest abdomen, knee. thigh) are applied in real life. Straight linear attacks or defenses are show only. U must get out of the line of attack, I can't understand why people persist on that samurai/katana way when it's not applicable in real fights. Sport karate is catastrophe, up to sandan people are not ready to face an average boxer or muay thai practitioner. That low hand stance, without any possibility for defense of Upper body is not viable. Hands down at obi height equals a sure death in real fight, as there's no time to predict, realize and defend the attack. Hence there's not a single defense during sport karate contests. Nobody applies kata! Wrestlers/Judoka kill them easily not to forget. Okinawans still practice a realistic approach, an ugly karate, ie original.
