Oh I concur on the pencil scramble. I have a 12 count of Dixon jumbo finishing pencil and a 20 count of Dixon carpenter pencil sprinkled around the shop...pro PRO tip, buy a couple of packs but sharpen all of them right away. Nothing worse than needing a pencil, finding a pencil, and needing to sharpen it 😒

Hey!! Happy to see you back!! Beautiful work! I have a question. I am a stone sculptor (soapstone and alabaster). I have gone through so many Dremel type drills from stone dust getting into them and seizing the motor. Have you had this problem at all?
@Jonasolsenwoodcraft
@Jonasolsenwoodcraft Год назад
Thank you so much! From my experience the dremels i have worked with live longer than i expect comapred to what they cost. If i work with very coarse bits the motor is not strong enough, But i work with a cheap dermel model

What a wonderful thing to see on a rainy Friday!!! -Ohhhhhh, I have dropped and broken things JUST like that before.....your hearts drops, and if someone was videoing me there would be several BLEEPS as well, -Yes, all woodscraps must be kept! Woodworkers and scraps are like dragons with gold. -I also sharpen my pencils this way lol! It works great! -Clamps and glue fix almost all problems, you can never have too many of either one. -SO EXCITED ABOUT THE PENDANTS! -Do you find that the dremal with a flexshaft gives you plenty of power? Does it bog down easily? -I LOVE the final step, where you get to put finish on. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CARVING!!! I am so excited for the next one, and this makes me want to try something that large myself!!!

@m.maclellan7147
@m.maclellan7147 Год назад
@Jonas Olsen Woodcraft don't get TOO picky. Most folks like seeing the sketches in an unfinished state. Unless you are planning on SELLING them (not a bad idea) as notecards ?! Many folks going to art shows can't afford the real art, so like buying notecards, a sticker or magnet, or a tote bag with your image on it. Obviously, nor all artists feel comfortable with that, but some years (pre-covid) selling blank note cards with my Art on them helped pay for some of the wine & snacks I put out at my Open Studio !

Hi Jonas! A friend recently sent me a link to your videos and they are superb. I really love the black walnut you favor and I really want to try it (I'll have to look up the janka hardness but it doesn't seem like your tools are struggling with it). I am also a new carver (not a very good sketch artist like you - that's definitely a huge advantage you have!) - and I confess that it's fear of imperfection that keeps me from my shop, but your words - and showing your mistakes - really helps. Hey it might be a stupid tip but there's a tool I use that I haven't seen you use. It's simple and I can't tell you how I love it. It's an air duster. The concentrated strong burst of air will blow the sawdust from the grain of the wood quicker and more thoroughly than a brush, and if you're looking for your burrs which I know you probably don't put back in one place as you work - you can pick up your air duster and just blow off the dust and reveal your whole bench. I've had two; first one was cheap but it lasted a year before I broke it. Just pay attention to the customer reviews and you can find a good one. I'll try to post a link if RU-vid will let me but I got mine from the all-powerful Amazon. I think they run about 30 USD now. Anyway very best of luck - your work is so beautiful. www.amazon.com/Replacement-Compressed-Canisters-Keyboard-Computer/dp/B0CXXYQKJN/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?crid=3C6P39R1TKM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.UwUDIN_GXT_YbOVa7cMnZ9ljOu3rXbH3H7FS4Zf6cAk23JVlTTcEVkvQNcF6oEW_disoOo7AP48jnWyBTWZWMWuy0rDowf1Vss8CFHqDa5nRzdnTJ0nqWXl5jN1vpoNlH26SqqLDfzh9s9IBAMAWbJGLhMwMl9wUZrdOGconaDZF_2CxzqN18GuIG8tR25noOJM2H-V6lG-qKlmpE05Q7g.VxTPLSLRShvAO3D7aF6n49fWWWzPQJOHg4VFcD1Uqps&dib_tag=se&keywords=air+duster&qid=1712772170&sprefix=air+duster%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-18
